Just booked our June vacation... This will be our 4th stay at Polynesian. We can't wait! Thinking of booking a Cabana for the day. I would love some opinions on this. Which one has a better view? Thanks in advance. :)

I'm really not feeling the IPO love this year. Every email I get back from them seem like I'm bothering them, and I haven't even asked them for any special requests or to make ADRs. :sad2:

38 days until the Polynesian. So exciting. This trip we are staying Lagoon View so I am curious as to which longhouse we will get and what kind of view it will be.

LV for us too. We requested Tahiti b/c of its proximity to the TTC and boat launch. I read somewhere, or at least I thought I did :confused3 , that most Tahiti LV rooms have views of the castle as well ? Not so sure since I have never stayed there before. I'm wondering if the views are that much better from the upper floors. I requested 1st floor since we will have our DGD8 with us and thought it was better for convenience to the beach. I'm sure wherever we find ourselves it will be beautiful ! :goodvibes

We were just at the Poly earlier this month and stayed in Tahiti. Our reservation was for LV so it didn't even occur to me that the LV rooms in Tahiti might have a castle view.

Wow- was I surprised when I walked into our 2nd floor Tahiti room and looked out the window- we could see the castle and space mountain right across the lagoon.

When I did online check-in- I had requested Tahiti and patio. They apologized when I checked in saying that they didn't have a patio available and would the 2nd floor be ok. I was just happy to be in Tahiti so I really didn't care.

Patio level definitely could have bushes obstructing some of the view so being on a higher floor in Tahiti would increase the chance of a MK view.

As for proximity to the beach- it was just an easy walk out the side door down the short path to the beach that is right in front of Tahiti.

Tahiti IS a walk to the GCH but the walk to the bus stop was pretty quick and if you needed it, the TTC is a short walk as well. The boat launch area for the Poly could be a hike since you have to meander past the pool and then out on a long dock. Quicker to just go to the GCH and take the monorail. We liked that Longhouse location- nice and quiet too. Plus- pre-reno- it has two sinks in the bathroom.

Enjoy your stay!!

Completed online check-in! Requested Samoa and Rarotonga!

180 day ADR time for our Poly trip is tomorrow morning. Still a ways a way, but a milestone to show its getting closer!

I love that 180 day mark. Its the date where things begin to get "real" for me. Have fun!

Anyone know how hard it is to secure a cabana reservation? Thinking we may want one for one morning in July. Will it be impossible to book at this point? Are they worth it? We figure it would be nice to have a home base that morning with some shade for our very fair DD2!

Question about dinner at Ohanas? It's just my hubby and myself, so how do they serve "family style" for just the two of us? Do we get sat at a big table with other people?

You'll get to sit at a cozy table for 2! You'll still be served in slightly smaller portions from the large tables, but you can always ask for more. We never do though, as it's way too much food even for 2! Have fun!!:thumbsup2

Thanks CJK ! I love using these Boards, you never have to wait for these "life or death" questions to be answered! My trip isn't until January 2014 and I'm on here everyday. The wait is killing me.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2
I thought that from the resort map pics the boat to MK was right off to the right of Tahiti if you are standing with your back to Tahiti that is ? Or maybe that would be the boat to Wilderness Lodge ? :confused3 I really like the idea Tahiti already has two sinks, we really need that :thumbsup2 and that it is especially quiet there. I may have to request a higher floor too. Just b/c it might be just a bit more private being off the ground and like you said, an even better view w/o the chance of plants cutting off our view. :goodvibes
Really starting to get excited...just hope I can get everything in place and ready by April 27th !!!!

You are right- the big ferry boat from the TTC is somewhat off to the right (back to Tahiti)- I was thinking you meant the smaller boat that does a loop from Poly to MK to Grand Floridian. That dock is a bit far from Tahiti over by the Poly Marina.

We liked the idea of the big ferry boat from the TTC as an option but never used it. It was our 'back up' plan if leaving the MK at night the monorail was mobbed. As it turned out, never needed it. Even walking to the GCH for the Monorail wasn't so bad. Pretty walk, minimal wait and quick ride thru the Grand Floridian then to the MK. The Ferry is so large that you might be waiting for them to fill it before it heads over and it might just be quicker to walk a smidge further to the GCH and take the monorail.

Plenty of time to get things in place and the time will fly- before you know it- you will be strolling into the Poly being greet by 'Aloha'!

Am I missing something- is there not a hot tub anywhere at this resort? What about other recreation like tennis or sport/basketball courts?

Ours too! I hope that you get all the ones that you want. I am letting IPO do ours for the first time and I am a wreck over it tonight. Hope it works out. See you at the pool in a few months.

Oh I just saw you are staying CL too that's even more exciting. So I guess we will see you in the club:wave2:

I almost always have been able to get the date/time I wanted for a cabana but I call a couple months in advance. Once I was not able to get the exact date/time but there were several options to chose from for the rest of our stay. You never know until you call and ask!
