Probably only something that you can answer based on you and who you are travelling with. We LOVE the club level... we travel with 2 kids and spend much of our afternoons at the resort. We couldn't be happier with being able to get snacks, drinks, breakfast, and adult drinks for when the kids fall asleep. I also LOVE the location of the Hawaii building and watching fireworks from the lounge. For these things I give up the view and stay garden view club. We don't spend too much awake time in our room. That being said, if you don't think that you would take advantage of those perks and would be spending time enjoying your room then the view would be more important to you.

Good luck making the decision!

Thanks- my family include 4 girls 7 and under (one infant) that love princess everything, so seeing the castle when they fall asleep/wake up was my first thought, but we'll have 3 full and 2 partial "resort" days so the CL question came up! I'm having so much troule figuring out what to do!

My DH just surprised me with upgrading us to Poly! :cloud9: I am so excited as this has always been my dream resort. We've been there before for Ohana so I'm a little familiar with the resort but after looking at the map, I'm still not sure which building to request. I do know that we want to be close to the GCH but also want a decent view.

Could someone post or PM the direct link to the rehab schedule for 2013, please? I looked on Tiki site and couldn't find even when I searched. We're booked for 9 days the first part of June and I'm curious how this will impact our stay. The main pool being down would be a huge issue for us but I'm not so sure if any other aspects would be troublesome.

on the tiki site, click on each longhouse's page. there is a field, in the top part of teh description that lists "last rehab date" and "next rehab". it is there. you have to go to each longhouse to review each of the dates. I made a schedule on paper, that lists all the longhouses scheduled rehabs in 2013. I don't want to request a house that is under construction during my stay, but would ideally like a refurbished one too!

Even more excited to stay here in June. We have been walking here because of staying at shades of green.

We were first floor Samoa 12/2-12/8 and it was wonderful. Of course our view was pool level so construction at GF was no problem. There was work being done on the quiet pool side of Samoa. The entire longhouse was blocked off on that side as was Niue. Our stay at Poly was amazing as always and I can't wait to return!

First floor Samoa is where we stay every time! You can go right from you patio to pool or captain cooks in 30 seconds. Great for morning refillable mug trips, afternoon pool breaks and you feel in like you're in the middle of all the magic. IMO Samoa has the best GV rooms and I wouldn't mind trying a third floor to get a view of the volcano pool and GCH! Glad you had a great time :)

I think Samoa is a great location for what you're looking for. I would word my request just like you have, but keep in mind you may not get everything you are asking for (they do their best to accommodate though). I have been told to request in order of importance, so the room assigner knows what is your priority, ie. if you want Samoa for sure, request that first, then what is next important, ie. ground floor or facing the volcano pool. If location is most important, but not necessarily Samoa specifically you could just request "first floor, near GCH". Most longhouses near the GCH are still going to put you near the volcano pool (though not necessarily right beside it)

Thank you!!

If your choice is between standard TPV and LV CL, I would go for the CL. We too love staying CL! We take full advantage of the lounge (snacks, drinks, breakfast ...) and love that it gives us some extra space to spread out with the kids. The only difference between TPV & LV is that you do not have an unobstructed view of the castle. Usually there is a tree in the way or part of the island that's out in the lagoon. You will usually still be able to see the fireworks, castle etc, you just won't have a clear dead on view. You will also be able to have the full on view of the castle from the lounge.

It's so nice to sit in the lounge having your breakfast while gazing out at the castle to start your day, or to sit with a snack for a few quiet moments for a mid-afternoon break.

We have an early CRT reservation on our first morning. Would you take the boat or the monorail from Poly?

Depending on how early your reservation is at CRT, I would take the monorail--the boats may not be running early in the a.m. Barring any monorail issues, it would be faster anyway. :thumbsup2

I've been off the Dis for about 6 months. Hubs and I are planning a trip for this June and so I am jumping back in! Didn't realize how much I missed you all!

Off to fix up my signature...

Just to let you know I just got off the phone with a CM and she said the pool will be closed February 18-March1 for renovations!

We just called and "Stu" said both the Polynesian and Grand Floridian pools will be closed during our time. Just sick to my stomach...

Happy New Year to all the Poly lovers!! party:party:party:

Feeling very blessed to have a 2013 trip on the books! :goodvibes

only one pool at the GF will be closed at same time as Poly's volcano pool. The beach pool and new alice in wonderland splash area and beach pool bar will al be open at GF.

8:05am so we will be sure to take the monorail. Hopefully it will be running! This will be our first full day there and our only early morning breakfast reservation. I figure the excitement will be enough to get us up. It will feel early since we are on Mountain time usually, but we have that evening off to take it easy. I have never stayed at the Poly before so I am super excited!!

Anyone having any luck booking a discounted GV room for 2013? We've been trying for awhile and are getting anxious about our May trip!

I got a PIN code that was good til the end of September(2013) and was able to get 35% off GV Poly. Dont know if you called, but might be worth a call to see if you have the same offer.

Hi Everyone! Just back from 10 days at the Polynesian. Our room was on the 3rd floor of Fiji overlooking the beach and Grand Floridian. We loved the location and even enjoyed every evening listening to the music at the Luah. It is very close to the main building so if you want to run over to Captain Cooks for a cup of tea or whatever it is super convenient. I did not find the rooms in disrepair nor did I find our room dark. Our room was spotless but you can tell it is time for an update. The last few days we were there, workers were coming out of the rooms across the hall from us (marina view)
Looked like boxes for lighting fixtures and a few people coming out with clip boards so the renovations are beginning! The hallways and elevators REALLY need to be redone.

The grounds are as beautiful as ever. We had no problems with the monorails. I can't imagine they will redo the Poly pool until the Grand Floridian's is done. The teacup pool at the Gr Fl is open but the main one still had walls up.

The Poly will always remain my favorite hotel but next time I think we are going to try the Yacht and Beach. We don't go into the MK as much as we used too - end up spending alot of the time in Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
