I'm thinking of Poly for our 2016 trip and have been scoping out the different longhouses. We would get standard view, but I really don't want monorail view (so reluctant to request Rarotonga), and really want a 3rd floor balcony (so reluctant to request Samoa since I read it's the most requested standard view longhouse). So, I'm thinking Fiji. I'd love to hear what people who have stayed there thought of it!

Also, if I book through Orbitz, can I still make room requests? If so, are they honored as much as requests made through Disney are honored?
We LOVED Fiji on out last trip. Great location - close to the pool and GCH, but a bit of a walk to the TTC. And we even had a bit of a view of the marina :)

i booked through expedia in january and called disney yesterday to see if i could request a particular longhouse and was told i could not because my res was made by exepdia. i'm guessing you'd probably get the same response, booking through orbitz.

That seems like an error on the CM's part. You should be able to add requests to your reservation if you have the Disney number (you can call Orbitz and get it). That's what you have to do in order to add kids to your reservation with Disney as well. Do you have the reservation linked in MDE? You'll be able to do online check-in as well where you can request a certain longhouse I believe.

It is true that you can't call an add any room requests if you booked through a 3rd party site, just like you can't do that if you book with a Travel Agent. You don't own your reservation, the 3rd party or Travel Agent does. Your room requests would have to come from the 3rd party or your Travel Agent.

You can however, make room requests via online check in.

yep, i had the disney reservation number and everything. she told me i couldn't. meh. if i have time i'll call and try my luck again, or via online check-in.

hmmm...I booked through Orbitz last year and added my own requests. It was CL, so I contacted the IPO with my requests. Maybe that's why?

Putting my dot down. Booked Hawaii for July post camp trip.

My DD and I haven't stayed at the Poly since her first trip in 2001.

Exactly why. Orbitz is considered a TA. And so WDW won't do anything. Request must be made thru TA.

So can you make requests through Orbitz? I was thinking of adding a night to our trip. At AKL in just a SV room, but I'd like to request bunk beds if possible. When I call to add the kids to the reservation, can I ask them to add a request too? I don't know if bunk beds are an option with the online check-in choices...

I have never booked with Orbitz, but from reading the Orbitz Thread on the Discount Board you have to make any request with Orbitz when you book. After that, they won't take any room requests.

This is untrue. I have a trip booked for April 17th and have added several requests through the online chat with no hassle at all. I have also called Disney to confirm the requests have been made. While Disney will not allow you to add requests over the phone they are happy to look at the reservation to make sure everything is in order.

Thanks for the correction. I was just repeating what other DIS members have reported.

This makes me feel so much better about booking it through Orbitz then. Even with my commission, it's still cheaper since I have Orbitz points to use! :-)

I've never booked with Orbitz but from what I've read from people that do, results vary. If you aren't getting anywhere with one agent, hang up & try again. Good luck!
