This sounds perfect for us cause our two boys are obsessed with the monorail. It's my 3yo's 'favorite ride' LOL. Anyways, are their elevators in the building? If we have one asleep in a stroller, be nice not to have to carry all that up three flights :rotfl:

There are elevators, no worries about carrying little ones up the stairs.

Thank you! Gonna go ahead then and do our check-in. I am so stinking excited  We have never gotten to stay at the Poly but always head over there for a meal. Can't wait to actually stay there!!!!
The first time at poly is extra pixiedust:
I called about 3 days before our arrival just to confirm our requests.
:thumbsup2 good to know.

I was just thinking about our reservation for next August, and was wondering if I am going to be limited to the longhouse that we are placed in. We have a standard view. Can I still request Aotearoa or Fiji? I was hoping to be away from any possible construction, and would love if the kids could see the monorail :)
Rarantoga isn't too bad though. Most of the construction will be done by then. We loved the location because it was close to GCH , pools and walkway to TTC.

Of course the kids loved seeing the monorail too:goodvibes

Have fun planning:)
We were at the Poly on the Magical deal, standard view, this past August.

We were 3rd floor Aotearoa facing the Luau Cove/Grand Floridian. I had requested 3rd floor Fiji (via my TA & online check in). Was told at check in that Fiji was full and that it is/was the most requested longhouse since the DVC construction began.

We loved our location so much that it will be our request again next August :)
Next August looks like a busy time for poly peeps:cheer2:

You can request longhouses by checking in online if you have a res linked to a MDE account. I've done this twice: once requesting Fiji during Christmas week, the busiest time of year; and the second time, last October, asking for a specific floor in Aotearoa. Both times, I was granted my room requests via online check in. Christmas, we checked in very, very late at night. This past October, I checked in around noon. As I said, I got my room req both times, AND my room was ready during this past October's early check in.

You can also call or fax with longhouse/floor requests. And many others have mentioned that if you are 1) disappointed with the room assigned upon check in and 2) willing to wait until something else opens...the resort cast members will work to grant your requests.

That said...by next August, the vast majority of construction should be done, so it should not affect nearly as many longhouses as it has this past summer and fall.

If you want a room with great monorail views, my suggestion is to request GV Aotearoa with a balcony, which will put you on the third floor. The monorail facing rooms in Aotearoa are great, AND if there is construction going on in the middle of the resort (as we saw in October), Aotearoa is away from it. We were there in the middle of the construction when they were tearing down the volcano by the pool...and we were totally unaware of any of that construction while in our room or on our balcony in Aotearoa this past October. The room had great views of the monorail AND was removed from middle-of-the-resort renos.

Good luck! :thumbsup2
Sounds like you had a good trip:cool1:

:crazy2: my son was king of falling asleep on the bus. We did have to carry him many times at night.

Sure miss those days::yes::

BLUE, glad you got your FPP for BoG :flower3:

The weather keeps changing for us "next weekers"!!!!!:faint:

I keep watching the weather channel :badpc:

Think we will need layers:laundy:

This polyprincess: can't wait:hourglass

The weather changes everyday. We're going to the Magic for the Thanksgiving Weekend and I keep checking the weather everyday. It's going to be tough to pack. Best to bring a little of everything. At least in the summer, you know the weather is just going to be HOT! Pretty easy to pack for that. :goodvibes

Mickeynut (or anyone else!) how soon are the resorts decorated for Christmas? We are arriving 12/5/15 and hoping to see all the MK resorts in their holiday finest! :)

As trisha said, you are good for an arrival date of 12/5 as all of the resorts will be decorated by then :santa:. Have a great trip. Disney during the holidays is amazing :goodvibes.

We arrive at the Poly on Dec 10th (one night before at ASMo). In MDE, it gives me a button to do online check-in. Can I really do that already?

As others have posted, OCI can be done 60 days prior to arrival, so you are good :thumbsup2.

Have a great trip :wizard:.

MickeyNut My persuasive Poly pal...:goodvibes Posting pics!! WTG :thumbsup2 ....and such very niceones too....Thanks!!! Getting me even more excited for our trip!

Thanks :). I thought I had a few more, but that's all I was able to find. I know the Poly doesn't do as much as some of the other resorts, but it's still festive :santa:. It will be interesting, though, to see what is done next year with the new lobby.

It won't be long before you're checking into the Poly for the first time :yay:.

I did the online check-in and choose two requests, balcony and
Fiji. In reality, I don't care if we are in Fiji or Aotearoa but we would
like to face the luau cove if possible (we are garden view). It's our
first stay at Poly, I am wondering if I should just call to clarify the online
request and when? I have read conflicting reports on sending a fax.
I realize nothing is guaranteed, but does anyone have any advice
or experience?

It never hurts to call and check to make sure your requests are noted :). Also, as trisha mentioned, if you get a room that doesn't meet your requests, you can always ask if something else is available. It's not guaranteed that the CM will be able to change your room/location, but we have found them to be very accommodating and will do what they can to meet your requests ;).

Thank you! Gonna go ahead then and do our check-in. I am so stinking excited  We have never gotten to stay at the Poly but always head over there for a meal. Can't wait to actually stay there!!!!

The Poly is amazing, you are going to love it :dance3:.

As rosiebean posted, the majority of the construction should be done by next August, so you should be good as far as not having to deal with much construction :goodvibes.

We just booked our stay for the last week of August! We've stayed at the WL and GF the last 4 times we went, but I've wanted to stay at the Poly since I went past it on the Monorail when I was 5! So I guess this is a lifetime dream come true! :)

You are going to love the Poly :goodvibes. We have had great stays at both the WL and GF and even though the Poly is our favorite resort, I do love the others. I think the Poly is going to be even more popular after all of the construction and renovations are completed ;).

:wave2:

Hey there

I would definitely take gloves for Fantasmic night as you never know what the weather will be like once you get there.

Hope the packing is going good. It won't be long before you're checking into the Poly :cool1:.

I am arriving on Saturday and think that maybe I better spend some time repacking the suitcase. It sounds like some warmer type clothing might also be needed.

I am so jealous of all you guys going to WDW and the Poly. Have great trips and post some pics when you get back!

Safe travels to everyone traveling to the Poly this weekend & next week, the rest of us wish we were joining you! Most of us are going to be all: :cold: while you guys are enjoying Florida sun :sunny: I'm looking forward to hearing any updates you can share on how construction in and around the Poly is going!

You are going to have 59-80 + for temps.... bring layers:goodvibes

I am only there 18-21 and get all 3 of the cooler days:rolleyes2

That's ok though mom not big about the pool anyways. Cool Florida weather is better than the snow on my yard right now:faint:

Trish Safe travels to you too...Such a wide variety of temps....:confused3 I might need to pack a bigger suitcase....don't want to leave any thing behind that I might "need"...lol....

MickeyNut :wave2: to my fave persuasive Poly pal...lol...

Thank you! That is great to know. We stayed at POR once and had to carry sleeping little ones in strollers up stairs. It was brutal at the end of a long day!

Thank you, mickeynut! I fell in love with the Poly before we took our first trip to WDW. But as a family of 6, it just wasn't really feasible for us to stay there. Every trip, we go over to have a couple of meals there and just walk around soaking in the place. Now, since my aunt is taking my girls on her ressie at the GF, we only needed room for four and we finally get to stay there! At a good discount too :goodvibes I am bummed that my (probably) one and only time to stay there will be with construction but I'm still excited!! It's still the Poly, right? It's still WDW, right?? :hyper:

You're welcome :).

I fell in love with the Poly the first time we visited the resort. When we finally stayed there, it was even more amazing than I had imagined :goodvibes. The resort is great and although your trip is during construction, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Like you said, it's still the Poly and still WDW :wizard:.

For those who haven't seen what the new Poly lobby will look like. Thoughts?
