I was thinking of requesting Aotearoa for our longhouse. I like that it's away from the traffic of people and close to the beach. But how loud is it with the monorail and luau? Maybe we should request Samoa? But ugh, it's by the pool. We considered CL for this next trip, but I heard the quiet pool will be under construction during that time and I'm not paying CL to look at construction.

Also, the new monorail hours, is that temporary? We are going in April, hoping they'll be to a full schedule.

I am no expert on the Poly but I can tell you that the Aotearoa building was great for us last month. We had a 3rd floor lagoon side standard room and it was so pretty looking out the window (or from the balcony) that night and seeing the GF all lit up! We never heard the monorails when they passed by (and we watched them) or the Luau. We did watch the people line up and get their pics when they attended the Luau. I hear that by April that all the will he left in construction is the quiet pool. Maybe to could request lagoon view?? We are trying to decide if we are going to go standard and request Aotearoa again or upgrade to Hawaii club level next month ourselves. Very torn! Good luck with your choices!!

Thanks for the info! Please LMK what you decide. I'm so torn too!

Hello all, first time posting and I hope I am doing it right! I have spent a lot of time reading before posting, but have not seen an answer to this. My family and I are planning a trip in November 2015 and hope to stay at the Polynesian. Does anyone know if the construction is supposed to be finished by then? Or at least mostly over? Thank you so much! :)

The best place for that type of information is Tikiman's Facebook page. Best and most accurate information I have seen.

Just booked our trip!!!:cloud9: Squeal! Squeal! Squeal!!!!!!

Now let there be a room discount pretty please! :worship:

I heard yesterday that the fire grill at Ohana wasn't working. Does anyone know if this is part of the refurbishment or just a fluke? Going down next week and want to cancel reservations if the grill isn't working! Thanks!

Some photos I took a couple of weeks ago. Keep in mind that these photos don't show the Nanea (Volcano) Pool rehab which will begin in a couple of weeks through 2015. I have to say that the resort actually looks worse in person. In fact, I am amazed that they haven't closed down the resort during the extensive resort-wide rehab. I know that has its own set of logistical issues with staff, guests, etc… but IMHO, it's unfit for guests. The resort is a mess from stem to stern. Even the entrance is a mess with fencing, no landscaping at all, road/parking lot closures and temporary signs.

IT WAS A WINDY DAY AND ALL THE TIKI TORCHES WERE LIT IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON:confused3. I THOUGHT THIS ONE WAS GOING TO IGNITE THE TREE:

Are all of the longhouses open to stays? Or does anyone know where I could find a listing of which ones are open or closed?

Also, where did they move Captain Cooks?

Going the end of Aug/Sept and looking to request a long house.

thanks in advance.

At the Poly right now for dinner. What a mess. Can't believe they decided to stay open through this. Looks like a war zone.

Thanks KOOK! Unfortunately not wat I was hoping to hear as we arrive in a few weeks! Lol. Can anyone comment on the Hawaii building recently? Hoping if we stay in the lounge area and out if GCH, it will feel a bit better! :)

We just returned from Hawaii building a few days ago! We loved it and didn't feel the impact of all the work going on there, except for the bungalow construction but we enjoy watching that progress. I will post pictures as soon as I download them to photobucket. We had 3rd floor TPV and it was amazing. We are used to 1st floor TPV, so this was very different to us. We did miss not being able to go right from our room to the beach, but instead we had a perfect view of the Castle and Wishes from the 3rd floor!

Thanks! Great to hear

We ate there. The lounge area is terrible and the ambiance is gone but the restaurant itself was fine.

Thanks... We have actually never been to Ohana. I booked it for our upcoming December trip. Should we skip it and go for the first time once the construction is done?
