:sad1::sad2: Ugh so sad about this.

I'm with you there, Sue. I've only been following Tikiman for a year and a half but still feel a true loss. I can only imagine the overwhelming sense of loss and frustration of those who've followed him during his Polynesian-dedicated years. He provides such a valuable resource to Polynesian lovers. He really must be devastated...to have put so much of himself into this work...
:surfweb::coffee::surfweb::coffee::surfweb:

@Tikiman, have I said it already? :thanks:

We are all so very disappointed. I looked so forward to reading his posts everyday.

In reality, Tikiman has probably generated A LOT of business for the Polynesian! Disney just made a big mistake by silencing him...

If Tikiman has been pressured to be silent by Disney, that is just terrible. I think his dedication should be applauded, and yes I agree he generates a lot of business for the Poly. I'm beyond sad about this, I really hope he reconsiders :sad1:

Agree 100% with everyone's comments. However, how exactly does Disney "silence" someone that doesn't actually work for them? Threaten to block him from coming to Disney? Isn't this a free country??

They send you a cease and desist letter telling you they will sue you for proprietary information and photos.. Disney doesnt mess around

Reconsider? I don't think he has a choice. ?

Yep, unfortunately you are right if he did get a cease & desist letter, you would not have a lot of options to continue. This is really upsetting to think you could devote so much of yourself & your time to the poly & Disney would do that. Tikiman created a forum where this great hotel is celebrated, it's not right. Like others have said it's a true loss on something great & shame on Disney if they did that to him.

Tonight at Trader Sam's the wait was only 15 minutes indoors and no wait outdoors. Much better than the 6 hours on opening night. After 8:00 is 21 and older-only, but any age is welcome before 8:00.

Tried the coconut curry meatballs at CC and I thought they were delicious, but DH and DD thought they were too sweet. DD enjoyed her Lobster Roll. DH had the udon with beef pho bowl and it was okay, but he wouldn't order it again.

Sorry for the poor quality iPhone photos...

I agree! When we first considered booking a monorail resort this trip, the information on Tikiman's site was a major factor in our decision to finally go for it (after 10+ stays off property!). The idea of construction was a big turn-off, but having details helped us figure out the likely impact on our trip. Furthermore, no way in the world we would have upgraded to club level without the easy access to information on his pages. Disney should owe him a commission! Their own website is ridiculously sparse. Others have good information, but Tikiman's is by far the best I found for updates throughout construction. Of course there are changes, and lots of things might fall in the 'credible rumor' category, but that is made very clear, multiple times. For newbies, his resource has been invaluable. That is just our experience, but I'm sure we are not alone.

If he happens to read this, I'd like to say thank you sir for your time and dedication. Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Great photos Kook!!!! Glad the lines seem to be more normal now. Looking forward to trying Sams in September.

Surprising our (will be) 12 year old on her birthday July 29-Aug 2! She'll have no idea! We're going to wake her up at 5am for 7am flight! Gtg. She just woke up!

I wish I lived close enough to do that for my 12 yr old daughter! What a lucky little girl! She'll love it!

I was watching some videos of the soft opening and I told my teens they wouldn't be allowed to go inside due to the age restriction. They'll be thrilled now to know they can go inside with DH and I!

The pool is still closed. The new splash pad looks like it will be lots of fun.

We actually like the new lobby. The ample seating is very inviting and while we miss the sounds of the waterfall and all the lush flowers, the orchids are beautiful and you can see them close-up now. The Tiki statue holds fresh flower leis and is a great centerpiece. The moldy smell is gone, which I know some have come to expect, but it's a fresher smell now.

Boutiki has lots of great resort-branded merchandise, as always and almost all the items have the new/original name on them. DH got a great Poly shirt:

Thanks KOOK for the awesome pictures and updates!
You posts are a breath of fresh air after feeling a little bummed with all the refurb and Tikiman talk. Your pictures prove that the POLYNESIAN is still the most beautiful resort at Disney! The pool is looking sweet! Glad I'm not there right now, i could not resist jumping in! Lol. Good to know Trader Sam's wait has simmered down, can't wait to see it. Is menu included in the DDP?
Have fun, and we look forward to more pictures/updates!:yay::yay::yay:

Me too! It will be my dd's first trip. I think I'm going to tell her we are going to Maine for the weekend so I have a reason to get her to bed early and wake her up for a 6:00 am flight. Good luck!
