Hi Jay. The east pool will be under construction. And may be more construction inside other longhouses in dvc. I'm not sure what's going on with Kona & Ohana I heard they may close kitchen for a bit to work on kitchen but no idea when that's happening.
For one night I may be inclined to go GF?

Thank you Sue. I may just do that. The easiest thing for me to do would be to just book that YC and just walk over to the BC the next day and check in for the rest of our trip but I want to try something new. I consider the YC almost the same resort as the BC and we always seem to spend time over there on our vacation so it would feel anything but different.

Thanks again,
Jay

Yup I feel they are pretty much just different sides of the same resort! And they are. Staffing is shared. Go for GF!!
And it's easy to get over to BC, just take DHS bus and boat over. Or monorail to Epcot. Then you'll feel like you've stayed someplace else.

Does anyone know what the normal pool hours are for September? I am trying to determine my ADR plan, but want to ensure we have some evening pool time as well.

All I can say Scott is that I was walking around Poly before dining, scoping out location requests for Aug :-) and I spoke with a CM at check in desk about possibly Samoa but was worried I'd face East Pool construction. What CM told me is that currently they have the rooms blocked off that face main pool construction, and so he thought they'd do the same with rooms facing a East Pool construction. It would make sense. But it's just word of mouth from a CM. Sometimes they're wrong. I feel he was just giving me his educated opinion, which is prob the best anyone can do right now, until closer to the date.

I have a reservation at the Poly for end of July CL, garden view (overlooking the quiet pool). I asked to be away from construction, hoping they would put me on the end of the resort, closest to the main pool (but still a garden view). They told me to get a lagoon view, so I don't know. It doesn't look like rooms will be blocked off as unavailable, at least for Hawaii.

I'd go lagoon view lol. Although they do have some garden view rooms facing beach on ground floor because view is now blocked because of bungalows.
Yes, it's prob more difficult blocking rooms in Hawaii. So asking to be away from construction is a good request.

I hope I'm wrong, but I would not count on rooms facing the east pool being blocked off during construction. Although they did so for the main pool, that was very major construction with limited number of rooms that needed to be closed. For the east pool, they'd have to block off half the rooms in Hawaii, Samoa, Niue, Rarotonga, and (if open by then) Tokelau. That's a a rather large portion of the resort! Last Sept I had a courtyard view room at the Wilderness Lodge during pool construction, which was the view we were stuck with for our stay. On the plus side, it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, though I can't say I'm eager to repeat the experience, either.

Yes, CM who told me that could be wrong. But to be safe I'm not requesting Samoa. And just pray I get a room on the other side of the resort!!

Hi everyone! Just want to share our experience for anyone who wants to read. We just returned from what ended up being a one-night stay at Poly. Let me explain... I've been going to Disney all of my life, but the only resort we ever stayed on property in growing up was the Dolphin, as my parents had a timeshare we always used. Poly was the resort I always wanted to stay in most. My husband and I stayed there last January in a standard room, and loved it. We were married at Disney back in November, and stayed GF RPC. Our ceremony was supposed to have taken place on Luau Cove, but we got rained out and the ceremony was moved over to the GF in the rotunda area at V&A's (which ended up being beautiful!) Anyways, needless to say we wanted to get back down to Disney ASAP as the week was crazy, so we wanted to go back to Poly. We were booked in a Club Level room at Poly 2/1-2/7. We checked in and got to our room, only to find stains on the carpet, wallpaper peeling off the wall, and a super creaky bed. We got to the lounge to find they had extremely limited offerings throughout the day. After getting bottles of sparkling water at RPC, imagine my surprise when I asked for one at Poly and the man brought out a small cup of flat carbonated water. No one was too friendly and the items were seriously lacking. We are not picky people, and are not hard to please. My husband said good afternoon/morning to multiple cast members while walking around and apparently he got grunts back and no smiles. Adding all of this up and being miserable, along with the amount of money it costs to stay there, I asked to go to the front desk and see if there was anything that could be done about changing resorts. Seriously, construction was the least of the issues. One of the front desk managers was very friendly and understanding, and moved us over to AKL which we absolutely fell in love with. I'm sorry, I know I am in the minority here, and it pains me to say this as I LOVE Poly. But being the second most expensive deluxe resort, behind GF, the accommodations are seriously lacking. I know they were recently done within the past few years. We encountered hardly any friendly cast members. We won't be returning until the rooms are renovated again, and the cast members get an attitude check. On a positive note, I love the new lobby! I love how open and airy it is, and you can look out and see the castle.

MinnieMeep, really sorry to hear about your experience at Poly.

Our trip last month was a split between three resorts you mention - AKL CL, GF RPC and then Poly CL. So we were able to compare all three back-to-back. Our Poly room was in much better condition than yours, and our experience with the Poly CMs was different too - lots of "Alohas" from CMs, including from the housekeeping CMs. They didn't greet us every time we walked by (like they do at BWI CL) but we were back and forth quite a bit, so that was OK. The food selection in the Poly lounge is more limited than in GF RPC, and we definitely prefer the food at both GF and AKL. But I don't think the food offerings are significantly fewer than at most non-GF CLs.

Really glad they were able to move you so quickly - we love AKL CL too!

Thanks pixarmom! I debated posting anything as I didn't want to come off as ungrateful or complaining. The lounge wasn't even a big deal as I know there are differences in offerings (but the difference was definitely noticeable after staying RPC & AKL!) It must have been that all of the stars aligned and everything was off. If it was just one bad thing, I could have looked past it. But adding everything up it just wasn't worth the money we were spending. I wish I had taken pictures of our room, I wish I was exaggerating on how dingy it was :( It was so strange that things were so different from the last time we were there a year ago, and I've read so many positive experiences lately. I'm not giving up after one not-so-great experience though! I want to return again in the near future, but I think we're going to wait until a room refresh to be safe.

I'm excited to try BWI club level in September! It will be our first time staying in the Boardwalk area!

I'm a big fan of posting the good and the bad. In part because if something is not-so-good at a resort, I don't feel like a crazy person if I know at least one other person experienced it. So if our CM interactions next time aren't as good, I won't think it's me or that I'm nuts! But one of the best things about your post is the message that if you're unhappy, you can try to move! We had a negative experience at BC once, and we asked to move to BWI. BC fixed the issue immediately and with more than we ever asked for or anticipated. But if we had not asked to move, we would have been unhappy.

Hope you love BWI as much as we do! The CMs there are super friendly (my husband thinks too friendly sometime, but I like it!) I don't love the food there as much as GF RPC or AKL CL and the lounge doesn't have the view, but other factors make up for it. I love rooms on the Boardwalk side - great views and I really enjoy the sounds of the Boardwalk - music, people, etc. One of my favorites in all of Disney! I also really love walking into Epcot and over to DHS. So convenient! OK, sorry, got a little off topic there!

Hello there.... just a couple questions. We are headed to the Poly the first week in December - I was wondering if there is any chance that the pool(s) are heated? I know my kids are really hoping to swim but I know the weather may not cooperate.

Second, longhouse question as I am really not sure what to request. We are just a standard room booking, and we will have our two young kids so a balcony or patio would be helpful so they can go to sleep and we can hang out a bit. I would like to avoid construction (provided it is still going on) and we will have a rental car. Any advice on best choices? It seems like everyone here says Figi, third floor, marina view. Yes?

That's our favorite view :) but whichever longhouse you choose, make sure you ask for 1st or 3rd floor if you want outdoor space. Second floor has only Juliet balconies.

yay! I swear this thread disappeared on me.

I'm poping in to say Aloha and we are staying here for a second time this Christmas. It will be the 4 of us, and my mom. The same group as last time we stayed. I booked us CL with a GradenView.

We will be there late August...anyone have thoughts on Raratonga longhouse at that time? I like the idea of proximity to transport and big pool but don't want to be looking at quiet pool construction. Sounds like everyone is requesting Fiji so I was looking for an alternative that we might be more likely to get!

I believe all WDW pools are heated. I thought of one exception, the Poly bungalow plunge pools.
Hope you have a great trip!

I am wondering the same thing. We love Raratonga but I'm not anxious to be right in the middle of the construction! I'm thinking maybe if we request monorail side it will give us a little buffer zone?
