Anyone that has been there when the partial beach closure has been in effect...
How busy is the beach for fireworks/water pageant now? What time do you need to get down there to get a chair or is it better to sit on the sand? It's our first Poly stay next month. I would love to sit in one of the hammocks or swings I have seen in pics. Thanks!
Our last stay at Poly was a few years ago, but even then there was no chance of getting a swing or hammock! They were always taken. But we were able to get lounges. With all the construction going on at main pool, and some beach area taken up with pool construction maybe there are less beach chairs out :confused3.

We were down there last night. Plenty of seating. People were arriving even after the EWP and there were still chairs. My only disappointment was that they did not pipe the music in.

That would be disappointing. Maybe they took the speakers down because of pool construction. I hope they replace them with better speakers. You could barely hear them anyway. ::yes::

That is what another guest told me. She said they came all the time and that you couldn't hear all that great anyways. I was still a little sad. We actually saved it until our last night as a special thing. It was still great though!

::yes:: it is still nice! Our stay was in winter (January) but was still nice wat hing from a beach lounge!
Last August we stayed at GF, another great place to watch. One night stood by Narcossees so could hear their speakers!

I saw those pictures, and it really does look beautiful. Still miss the waterfall, but it gives me sort of an AKL vibe now (and I love and adore AKL).

I would like opinions on building request (standard view room) for my 1st stay at Poly in Feb 2015... I want 3rd floor for balcony, and of course would like least amount of view of construction mess.. So I'm thinking Fiji luau cove beach side, or Aotearoa lagoon side ?? How is Rarotonga with regards to construction ?? No interest in using quiet pool . I'm going strictly by looking at resort map so could use opinions! Thanks!

Thanks for posting this! I've been following this thread (and various others) regarding the construction, and honestly, I was thinking I was going to regret my upcoming stay at the Poly. However, the photos are great and I think the lobby looks beautiful! I was so close to changing resorts, but I'm very happy that I didn't! :)

I was nervous too, since our trip is in 40 days, so I'm thrilled the lobby is open. I'm not as worried about the construction for the pool, since we always used the quiet pool anyway, but the lobby would have been a pain.

So there's NO speakers at all on the Polynesian beach now or were they just blocking the music because of MVMCP?

Was a little nervous with how the lobby would turn out. I was a big fan of all the lush plants and waterfall, but have to say I am REALLY loving how open it is! Looks very fresh and modern!

Got to see the lobby tonight as we headed over for dinner at O'hana. While I do miss the old waterfall, I have to say that the new lobby looks nice. No real wow factor like before but not ugly either...could use more greenery or flowers though..IMHO.

The Christmas tree is up too and is set behind the new water feature...LILO & Stitch were there tonight along with photopass photographers taking pictures with families in front of the tree. Also noticed new furniture in the seating area of O'hana...much needed and also looks nice. Really can't wait for our upcoming stay in August!

Yep, we watched one night from GF too and could hear the speakers from Narcoossees also. Two of my kids were staying at the GF with my aunt so we were back and forth a lot. I was very happy with how easy it was to go back and forth.

There are currently no speakers. The music from a MVMCP holiday wishes was being piped in over at the GF so I am not thinking they block it just cause it's a party event. We've been also during the MNSSHP and they pipe in the music.

I know I am in the minority, but as greatly nostalgic as the previous lobby was, I like this better.

However, with that said the water feature/fountain does not look proper without a Tiki statue/icon on top of it. Hopefully it gets added soon.

Is there much water flowing from that fountain? Can barely tell in pics.

I actually like the look of the lobby more than I thought I would. I can't wait to see it for myself next summer.

I actually agree with you. I loved that waterfall but I also love the openness the lobby now has. A CM told me that the statue would be up in March.

I love the new lobby. I like how open it is. I think the tiki will help the fountain when it's installed.
Can't wait to see it all for myself May 23rd!! :thumbsup2

How are the Poly's rooms in general as far as noise? Do the walls seem paper thin or are they good for blocking out noise from rooms around you?
