Breakfast at The Wave this morning and Kona for dinner. Otherwise, just pool time and relaxation. I think DH and DS may hit MK again though...maybe I can convince them to let DD and me tag along for a bit after breakfast? :-)

We've been going to the quiet pool every day. Lots of chairs and tables and shaded areas. The kids will run over and go down the slide a few times, then come back. We like having more space to play around in the water. Plus the boys say the main pool has too much "One Direction" music. :rotfl::rotfl:

I can't believe tomorrow is our last day!!!!!!!!:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: My daughter is 14 and has the "direction infection" so she will be so happy to hear One Direction while at the Poly! Wait until I tell her. We'll be there in 19 days!!!!!:yay:

I always wish that they wouldnt play the music at the pool every day, I like to be in my disney bubble and relax by that beautiful pool and hear the Hawaiian music but apparently my DH and I are in the minority on this.. We do go over to quiet pool sometimes but we really LOVE the volcano pool and views..

Well yesterday was a comedy of errors. Got to airport on time and found out that our plane would be arriving 1/2 hour late. No big deal. Then we get on the plane and are told there is a minor mechanical problem. That took another 1/2 hour to resolve. We were then cleared for takeoff...yay! We moved up to the runway and were next to take off...and air traffic control closes our route. Ugh!! Took another full hour of sitting on the runway until we finally took off. So now we are a full two hours late. We were supposed to land 6:15 at MCO and now it's looking like it will be 8:25.

We finally land at MCO and board the ME. And yup you guessed it...we are the last stop. We get dropped off at the poly at 10:05.

We were checking into club level. No one meets us off the bus so we head into the GCH. Wait in line at the check-in desk and finally get the attention of a rather unmagical cm. I tell her we are checking in CL and she looks at us and says, "name?". So I tell her and she just starts typing. No aloha, no smile, no nothin. So I say "I'm assuming we can't check in at the Hawaii building since it's a few minutes after 10:00". And she tells me they have all gone home. I ask if there is any way we can have them put a couple crackers or desserts in our room since the kids haven't eaten since lunch. She tells me "nope too late". Then she just hands us our key. No mention of club hours, no 'enjoy your stay', no nothin. Doesn't even tell us what room we are in. So I ask her what room we are in and how to get to Hawaii.

She tells me we are on the 2nd floor. UGH. My one and only request was 3rd floor. What I found interesting is that when she checked us in she didn't even say "I see you requested 3rd floor, I'm sorry it is not available". No acknowledgment at all. And no leis either. She tells us there are no 3rd floor rooms available tonight but that we can check back in the morning.

So we head over to our 2nd floor room. The windows are all fogged up so we can't see out. I say "let's open these sliders and see this TPV we paid for". Open the slider and massive cobwebs cover the whole opening. Cant lean on rail or anything. Looks like it hasn't been opened and cleaned for months.

So my DH goes down to talk to manager. Manager says we definitely didn't get the CL experience. Offers to move us to a standard non-CL room for tonight and check us into a 3rd floor CL room in morning. My DH asks if we can just pay the reduced rate but keep our current room for the night. Our carry-ons are already there, kids are starving and tired. Manager says no but assigns us to a room in Raratonga. Also tells us to go to bell services and inform them of our room change so ME knows where to deliver our bags. So we do that and then we go back to room, gather all our stuff, and head to our new room in Raratonga...only to discover a king bed. Ugh! So back we go to front desk.

Guess what...manager is now unavailable. Need to re-explain issue to new CM. He agrees to put us back in our original room at a reduced rate. But first we need to go to bell services again to inform them of the room change.

It is now just before midnight. Bell services says our bags will be in our room by 12:00. So we go to captain cooks for a bite to eat. Get back to room at 12:30 and still no luggage. So we call down to luggage and valet on our room phone. My DH explains issue and it takes a good few minutes for him to realize they have transferred him to GF luggage and valet by mistake. They transfer him to poly and he re-explains issue. We end up getting our luggage a bit before 1 am.

Now, I am not usually a negative Nellie but this was seriously the worst CL check-in we've ever had at Disney. I guess the magic goes home at 10 pm.

Honestly, we were all laughing by the end of the night it was all so chaotic.

Kids and dh are still sleeping now. They are all exhausted from our late night. Here's hoping they still have that 3rd floor room for us today...

I completely agree with you!! I would love to just hear the relaxing Hawaiian music the whole time. On our last trips I didn't think they played the "pop" music all day long - maybe just during the afternoon hours while they're doing games at the pool??? Hoping it's not a constant thing now....

Wow! That does sound like a fiasco! Hopefully the rest of your trip is much more magical. pixiedust:

I have had two CL stays and we still haven't experienced the "proper" CL check-in, so I wouldn't even know what I am missing. :upsidedow

Looks like Poly just wasn't having a good day yesterday. Hopefully today holds better for you than yesterday.

Oh LORD thats NOT good! You need to defanitely talk with the manager again today b/c thats unacceptable, it doesnt matter if your check in was after 10 the GCH CM should have had more Aloha spirit! Not t mention the whole room fiasco! We pay dearly for CL so thats just unacceptable!

I hope everything gets straightened out! Let us know what happens today!!

We also had issues with our check in to Poly CL 2011, let guard know we were CL he apparently didnt let curb know, we pull up they grab our bags then everyone leaves us just standing there, no leis no someone is coming nothing. We wait for 10 min until I finally tell someone at valet desk, girl tells me just check in at GCH I tell her NO Im CL, she still insists so we walk in, CM apologizes and walks us to Hawaii. The CM there was just as unfriendly tells my DH that she doesnt need him only me, for him to go have breakfast?? Then complains several times how early we are. Its 745 my reservation was noted for 7 am arrival. Once she pulls up the computers she says OH it is noted you would be checking in at 7. Tells me the room isnt ready but we will get a text. Go to MK come back around 330 still no text so I ask her when room will be ready and where we are. She says Oh your room was ready this morning!! :sad2: So I get Dh and my two teens and Dh and DS head to the room while DD and I go to do some shopping at GF. About 30 min later I get a call from DH telling me that we were put on 1st floor and room was filthy and door wouldnt even LOCK! So he called for a manager explained everything that happened. Manager moves us up to 3rd floor TPV. we move up to that room, gorgeous view, we are all excited and DS realizes he left his ray bans in other room, go to CL desk let them know, was told they couldnt leave desk to go get them until someone else comes to desk, 2 hours later still nothing go back and ask her again so she goes to look comes back, no ray bans! At this point DH was livid! The manager we had spoken with was gone, so we went to GCH spoke to another manager who asks us what more we want since we were already given a free upgrade?:crazy2:

He send security to our room 30 min later to do a report, a supervisor and a guard were there to take the report and as we are explaining what happened the guard interrupts to say " Werent you here last yr and claimed stolen sunglasses???? Then as we are completing the report he asks us 2 more times by this time we are completely insulted by this insinuation and I just break down and cry. They walked out the room no apology NOTHING. Once we got home my son filed the insurance report gets a check to replace the raybans and I email guest services to let them know everything that happened. I do get a call back and she writes everything down tells me thats she will investigate and get back to me.. NOTHING

2012 BC CL get in from our Disney Cruise check in around 1030 am have to ask front desk 3 times to have someone take us to CL floor. By this time our nerves are shot, CL Cm apologizes brings us coffee and finds us a room thats ready. Get to the room, its dirty and cob webs COVER the balcony plus their is trash on it, obviously not cleaned. On the way to park stop at CL desk let them know. Come back 10 hrs later room nor balcony has been cleaned! Call for a manager who refuses to move us since we check out in the morning and send maids to the room its after midnight by now.. Dh was so furious that in the morning he wanted to leave the min we woke up, no breakfast only coffee.. They did comp half of the cost

Praying that this time CL check in and room will be much better..:goodvibes If not oh boy.. DH will be heck to reckon with after the last two times..

CT Disney - my heart is breaking for you!! So much $$ to spend to have all that happen. What's going on with Disney customer service!?!?! At least all these stories are setting my expectations lower, so I won't be too disappointed if the service at DW isn't all I heard it would be.

Please let us know if/how this situation is resolved.

Wishing you a happy vacation!!

I have to agree with this!!

I have a question about which floor? What are the differences? This will be our FIRST Poly stay!
We want to be close to GCH so thinking Samoa - what floor ?????

Samoa is in a great location as it's convenient to everything, IMO. It's just steps from the GCH, volcano pool, the beach, and Captain Cooks. If you want a balcony, request a 3rd floor room as the 2nd floor rooms in Samoa do not have balconies. You're going to love the Poly :goodvibes.

As with many people today, trying to secure the 30% discount earlier today was quite the chore. I must have called 6-7 different Disney phone numbers and I could not get through. I finally decided to book a new Poly reservation online, and call back later to cancel the original reservation.

I finally managed to get through...and after applying the discount, paying the deposit, and using our Disney Reward Visa Dollars the final total for an 11 night stay at the Poly will be about $1,488. :thumbsup2

Not too shabby...November can't get here fast enough. :)

What an awesome deal :thumbsup2.

On our way to the poly should be there by 11!

:yay:

Our room at the Poly!

And our view

Breakfast at The Wave this morning and Kona for dinner. Otherwise, just pool time and relaxation. I think DH and DS may hit MK again though...maybe I can convince them to let DD and me tag along for a bit after breakfast? :-)

Great pics....thanks for sharing :). Enjoy your pool day.....it doesn't get any better than relaxing by the volcano pool with a distant view of the castle behind you :cloud9:.

We'll be there in 19 days!!!!!:yay:

You will be there before you know it :cool1:.

I always wish that they wouldnt play the music at the pool every day, I like to be in my disney bubble and relax by that beautiful pool and hear the Hawaiian music but apparently my DH and I are in the minority on this.. I agree.....I love listening to the Hawaiian music while at the pool :cloud9:.

I'm sorry you had a not-so-magical arrival/check in. I hope everything gets taken care of and the rest of your trip is great without any more problems :wizard:.

I have to agree with this!!

I'm so glad 'm not the only one!!! Each day when one of the songs would stop and I could hear the Hawaiian music, I would tell DH how much I wish they would just let that play in the background and stop the other music!!!

I thought I was being an Old Patooty, but I guess there are a few of us out there!!!

BUT, I did have a blast watching the little ones and the CM's / Lifeguards dancing to the music!!!

I am so sorry this was how your vacation started!

After talking to a CM friend of mine, she mentioned that Disney is pretty much hiring ANYbody to work since they are having a hard time filling positions. So I can see where the CM's might not have that Bubbly Disney aura that we are used to.......such a shame :confused3 Disney has always had such great Customer Service, but these past few years have been different.

That is a shame!!! It's ironic that they are having a difficult time filling positions with the unemployment rate.

I am getting nervous about all these bad CL experiences. We check in on Sunday. This is such a trip of a lifetime for us I just so don't want anything to go wrong. I was hoping for pixie dust but now I am just hoping everything goes smoothly.

We got the T-shirts I had made up for dh and myself and the kids yesterday. They came out really nice. I can't wait to wear them. The company wants us to take pictures of ourselves wearing them and we could be chosen for 100.00 in free t-shirts. That would be cool for our Christmas trip.

We are really getting down to the wire and I still have so much to do. Yikes! LOL. My lists have lists.

Oops sorry didn't see the post before me but wanted to make sure person who asked about hot tub knew it was allowed! Just can't use the one by the pool..

Since Poly doesn't have a health club, sauna or hot tub we are allowed to use GF freely

Sept 2013 Poly, 2012 Disney Fantasy, BC CL, GF CL, POR, 2011 Poly CL, CR, Poly CL, AKL, 2010 Poly CL, ASMu 2009, SSR 2008, Pop 2006, POR , Asmo 2005, Asmo 2003, offsite 2000, 1999,1989, Poly 1980, offsite 1979

Officially the Polynesian claims the GF Spa and Health Club as one of its amenities. Even on their guest handout it list that it has a Health Club and tennis court but it is the one located between the two resorts. They share these as amenities even if it has the Grand Floridian name on it.

Just...can't...stay...away....

Yup, I booked again ;)

I'll be heading to the Poly for the big 2-9 birthday in October (and if you believe that, I've got some swamp land for sale for you...)

At least DH didn't roll his eyes when I told him I picked WDW for my bday trip. All he asked was where we were staying. I told him the Poly and he said, "good. that's the only place I like to stay." Not that he hasn't enjoyed the Beach Club or Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge but he says if he MUST go back to WDW, it must be the Poly. I like the way he thinks :thumbsup2 Of course, it didn't hurt that I was able to snag a room discount either!

So here's to starving myself for the next 2 months so I can stuff myself with grown up grilled cheese sandwiches, dole whips, and fruity drinks!!! And that mango sushi...Oh and definitely an Island Sunset, and Lapu Lapu, and Mickey waffles. Oh wait, I NEED to have a cheese danish like every day!!! I wonder if we'll leave the resort??? Well, there is food and wine festival. Glory be, I'm excited :cool1: :rotfl:
