Last week the monorail was out of service two different days. One day we took a bus from TTC to Epcot, and another day we took a boat back and forth from Poly to MK. A bit of an inconvenience when you are staying at a "monorail" resort.

Thanks for the info! Are there kings beds in the Hawaii building now? We really want a king bed as this is our first trip ever without our girls and we are celebrating our 15th wedding Anniversary.

Any photos of the suites or Tonga building? I cannot remember what this building looks like. It says the suite is on the first floor with marina view..... decisions....decisions.

Also- looks like the lounge in that building was renovated with more offerings. Does anyone know what offerings they have in that building. I really do not mind walking over to Hawaii since it is just me and my dh.

There are no king beds in Hawaii ... even after the recent renovations.

Tonga is right next to the Grand Ceremonial House and in front of the marina.

The lounge offerings in the morning are a bit different than in the Hawaii lounge. They offer larger size muffins, toast, and sometimes donuts -- generally, those are NOT in the Hawaii lounge.

Also, during the day there are usually full-size cupcakes, and bags of chips available -- also not found in Hawaii.

However, for dinner there are no offerings -- just the same snacks as you will find in the afternoon. You must go over to Hawaii if you want any hot food.

Getting closer :cool1: I had to travel last week for work and finally had a moment to check out the disboards and...I found out the resort monorail will be closed 11 am - 6 pm the days I am there :sad1: I realize there are alternatives but it is still disappointing. At least we will be on vacation...soon! The family needs it!

Feeling a bit nervous....we love the Polynesian Resort and have stayed there several times. Last night I decided to upgrade our stay from CSR to the Poly for our stay in just over a week...10/14 to 10/19. I booked a lagoon view room and planned on requesting a room in the Tahiti building.

Now, I was just looking at information on another site and see that this building is possibly closed AND the monorail is possibly going to be down from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day while we are there.

If Tahiti is closed, anyone have a suggestion as to a room request where we would have the best chance of seeing the castle and/or the fireworks with our lagoon view room? Or, just a suggestion of a great room location?

Also, anyone there that can confirm about the monorail?

I am a bit disappointed that when I changed our reservation last night that the CM did not even mention that the monorail would be down. DS has health related issues and being on a monorail resort makes our lives so much easier.

Thanks for any information!
Jen

We will be there at the same time and I too was disappointed to hear the news about the resort monorail. So I looked at our plans to see when it would affect us and found that we will need to find an alternative to get to MK one day and leave MK on another day. Depending on our room location (hopefully we get our favorite longhouse Tokelau), we will most likely just walk to the TTC to get the express monorail to MK and do the reverse when we need to come back to the Poly. So take a look at when you will need to use the monorail to see how much it really affects you.

That being said, I personally think that for the price we pay, we should have the monorail access. I adore the Poly but the #1 reason I like it is the monorail access and that is why I am willing to pay the ridiculous price. Not having that access makes me :confused3

As for your room request, I have never stayed Lagoon view so perhaps some other Poly peeps can help out! I will say that Tikiman's unofficial Poly site (just search for it on the internet and you will find it) provided me with a lot of information to figure out where I wanted to stay. I still look at it but end up requesting the same longhouse every time because it is ideal for me (and we only book standard/garden view).

Good luck and just know that even with the monorail access being limited and the construction, it will still be a great trip! The pool and restaurants should all be operating normally and the construction is limited to a section of the resort. And hopefully you won't need the monorail access to the Poly lobby too much during 11a-6p!

the monorail is closed due to work at the Grand Floridian that is close to the monorail. It is too dangerous to run it during this time. They expect to have the work done by 10/19 We just got back from Disney this afternoon and we were at the Poly picking up our painting. You can still walk over to the TTC and catch the monorail to MK or Epcot from there so it isn't completely bad for the Poly guests. Who it effects most is the GF and Contemporary. I would not be upset if I were staying at the Poly but would feel rather inconvenienced at the other two.

Just checked out and sitting at the airport on the way home. We absolutely loved the poly and cant wait to stay there again.

The monorail was great, but our favorite way to mk was the boat. It was so nice and peaceful each way. We even got to see the end of the electrical water parade last night.

Hopefully we will be back next October or November.

Love your pictures! Question: what is the name of that drink? My husband got one of those for me last year but didn't get the name. He just asked the bartender for something that tastes like candy ;)

We love the boat too. I try to time it to watch the parade when I can

It's a Malibu Macaw....some call it the Tropical Toucan. Either way it's colorful and delicious

Greetings all:

I've just recently moved my reservation from the Beach Club to the Polynesian for Marathon Weekend. I called Disney to apply the recently released discount code to my Beach Club reservation. I was told that there was no availability for the Beach Club. There was a discounted room available for the Polynesian Club Level Theme Park View for $100 less than the Beach Club. After talking it over with my wife, I called Disney back and changed my reservation.

I've never stayed at the Polynesian or any other monorail resort before. Anything I should know? Do they serve Dole Whip at the Poly?

Rick

That is a definite 10/4 on the dole whip. You are gonna love it. You may have some issue with construction noise but it is only during the day. Having the monorail there is wonderful for MK and Epcot. You can also walk to the TTC to catch the monorail too. Capt Cooks is open 24 hours though the griddle closes I believe at 11 but you can get take out stuff all night long. There are also sodas and coffee available to you in the lounge all night long. The pool is awesome and the view of wishes is spectacular from the beach. Once you stay there you will be hooked. I believe it is the most relaxing resort at Disney. You will love club level also. Breakfast in the morning. Snacks at lunch, appetizers at 5 and dessert and cordials at 7. If it is raining the view of Wishes from the lounge is wonderful
Look on Tikiman's webpage and see what longhouse you would like to re

Online check in question? We arrive 11/20 for our first stay at the poly whoot!! Can you enter specific room # w/ the longhouse preference? Or can you only enter the preferred longhouse? Any guidance would he appreciate. Thx

When I did it for Pop Century it only allowed me to do building and floor. I have not done the one for our Poly trip in December yer though it's too early by a few days.
