Ok - have to post a quick message today to see my ticker... I am under one month now!!!! Yippee - hoping to get a countdown calendar made this weekend for the kids. (It was supposed to be done already!)

For those of you keeping up - I didn't see the guinea hen yesterday... hoping that my neighbor found a way to get it back in its pen - or it is bothering someone else - fingers crossed!

My DD has been wanting make a countdown calender for months now. I told her the earliest I would do is 100 days!

Maybe another frustated neighbor had a nice meal last night

9/17-9/24 for us!! We're bringing Gma along again - you know in case we need reinforcements for the kids Actually she loves Disney as much as we do and is just as excited!

Just found this thread and it was soooooooo uplifting. thank you bunches for the time it took to put it together. I true labor of love. the pics are amazing. Its as though I am there as I sit in my office on a chilly, rainy Friday dreaming of my SURPRISE trip to Disney for my 60th over July 4.
Since the Poly has always been my fav. I am assuming that is where we will stay. HOW DO I KNOW, YOU MAY ASK? Well, months ago I was asked what did I want for my birthday in July. Of course, everyone who knows me will agree that was a loaded question. I simply said I wanted the entire family, ( my 83 yr. old mom, my grandkids, my sisters, my kids, and oh yeah, DH .to go to Disney together.
At christmas my DD said I was never to mention my birthday again. Last month a funny blue envelope arrived in the mail ( the one with the monorail on it). Being the Disney family planner for over 20 years ( no one else has ever attempted to plan the trips) I knew right away what it was so I put it back in the mailbox till someone else got home! Yes, I am ashamed but not that much! Now, my biggest concern is a selfish one. How do they know how and what to ask for re: building location, ADR, or the fact that they are offering a 25% room disc. right now. I have no one to confide in but my disboard friends! any advice or creative ideas without spoiling the SURPRISE?

Here I am babbling about a birthday trip and YOU have real concerns. My prayers today are for you and your family as well as all the military families ( including my two nephews) who will have their lives disrupted by this move by our government. Maybe it won't come to that. That's a pretty crappy way to thank our service people who are already sacrificing so much.

I find this frustrating.... regardless of what side of the aisle you are on - I think it is ridiculous that there cannot be some sort of compromise by this point. Regardless of that - we still expect your husband to do his job - I was horrified to hear that the military won't be paid for that. Hoping that you and many others get some good news soon.

Sounds fun (even if you know the surprise)! I wouldn't worry too much about the details. 1) they have been going with you for so long that they must have caught on to something by now and 2) I am sure that they want this trip to be great for you too. Heck you never know - maybe someone is lurking here on the disboards trying to get all the info they can! I am a first time planner and have got so much information on here all those things were taken care of!

Wow - that would be a LONG countdown.... Good thing I went back on here this afternoon - I forgot all about it when I was running errands today. Not such a nice afternoon so I think that I will take the kids out this afternoon and get some supplies!

I'm sending pixie dust that it doesn't happen and you don't have to cancel your trip.
This makes me SO angry. They should NOT withhold the pay of our military!!! Let the Senators & congressmen go without pay. THEY can well afford it. And there is so much waste in government, a few cuts won't make that much difference, but to you, withholding pay can be catastrophic!! I'll also keep you in my prayers, as I do all military persons & their families.

I am not American, so don't know enough about your system to know how this could even happen! I can't even think of a situation where our government could "shut down" completely. Even if a budget is struck down the civil service continues to operate (the only exception would be a strike, but essential services aren't allowed to strike - so, to the best of my knowledge that would mean that government employees such as the military would still receive their pay).

Praying for pixie dust for your family. It seems so unjust that those entrusted to protect your country would be denied their pay and would be left scrambling to make the rent.

I believe that once they resolve the budget issue you will get your back pay. but I don't think that it will come to that. I dont know for sure but I think that this is only a huge muscle flex that will only last two or three days.. dont panic! dont worry about a ting cause every little things gonna be alright! dont go cancelling your trip tonight at midnight!

if it came to it.. I would just change my reservation from the poly to the shades of green! it really is a nice resort! and much cheaper than the poly!

That's so awesome! I'm hoping bringing grandma and "bro" (what DS calls my dad) will go well. They've never stayed on property so hopefully CL at Poly and GF will hook 'em!
