ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

We are returning to the Poly in September, staying theme park view but not CL. Anyone care to share their room recommendations?

No the money does not bother me. I have just read some bad reviews and needed to hear from a few postive people. The only time I have regretted the money I spent on vacation was when we stayed offsite at DL. I regretted it the whole trip. I will never stay offsite again. I saved money, but I hated it. I like to be right in the middle of the action. I'm really excited about the great view and I'm sure my kids will enjoy the snacks. Dh and I will enjoy the adult beverages. Thanks

Well, you mentioned being unsure/nervous about money a couple times in your post, so I thought I'd point that out, as it seems to be what a lot of people worry about when writing posts like yours. If money's truly not a worry, then you will be fine. It's a wonderful view with some wonderful CMs at your service. The snacks don't hurt, either.

No not nervous maybe just a little shocked at myself.:laughing:I tend to go middle of the road when I purchase stuff. Not the cheapest not the most expensive. The cm I got could sell ice to an eskimo. She did a great job. I'm happy a took the plunge.

I love polynesian resort is my favorite resort for April 2011! I really wanted to stay so badly!

We did CL TPV in October for our anniversary. It was our first time doing CL and TPV and it was nice to wake up and open the curtains and see the Magic Kingdom (albeit a distance away), and we did enjoy watching the fireworks from our balcony. I'm glad we did it but I don't know if I'd book CL TPV again as we really didn't spend a lot of time in our room. We did thoroughly enjoy the CL benefits and have booked a GV CL room for our May trip, so we'll see if we miss the view. For $200 less/night for our dates in May, I'm thinking the GV will be just fine for us.

AKKK so it is YOU that has taken the Poly Cl GV during our stay! We can't get in there only TPV CL is available.. I wish we could convince them to upgrade you to TPV and let us in the GV CL! We can get TPV CL but it would be $1600 more than our standard GV :scared1:

It depends what your preferences are. We've stayed twice TPV in Tuvalu and loved it. We had a third floor and because there is no beach between the longhouse and the lagoon we felt like we were right on the water when we were out on the balcony. It has a lovely view of the GF and is very close to the GCH & volcano pool. :thumbsup2

Don't give it a second thought ... for most of our trips to WDW since our honeymoon trip in 2003, we've either stayed off-site or for the past few years at Pop Century. Money isn't an issue for us, but because we spend so little time in the room, we chose a value over a mod or deluxe. We were adamant that we weren't missing anything staying at Pop. That was until we received one of the coveted 40% off pins and decided that since it was only 5 nights, we'd splurge and try CL at the Poly. Then DH decided to go all out and do TPV as well.

Unfortunately now we're hooked and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else put Poly CL.

You said you were nervous about it, so that's what I went off of when answering...wasn't trying to put words in your mouth (keyboard?), promise! Seriously, though, don't second guess it. Negative reviews get much more attention than positive ones, so if you let those get in your head, you'll go looking for the negativity. I never take any of the reviews here (or anywhere else) to heart. I take in the info, but I'd always rather experience things for myself. And if you tend to not experience higher end things, you'll really enjoy treating yourself and your family!!

Thanks. I have never stayed club level anywhere before. We are also doing 5 night at the hardrock hotel club level this trip( about 1/2 the price of poly), and 5 nights in Oct club level at the BWI before our cruise. There have been years when we could not not afford any vacation. I'm going to take advantage of the good times when I can. You never now what the future holds. Look at those poor people in Japan. Everytime I go to Dl there are tons of Japanese visitors. I wonder how many had trips planned. So sad.

this will be awesome to stay in the Poly and now we have our chance to stay in the Poly for April 2011!

Oh Lord I have to make sure DH doesnt see that CL TPV or there goes my Laila perfume..
LOL!

Just Kidding but Im still not sure that I want to spend the extra money for TPV Id rather spend the money on CL..Besides you never know what kind of view you can actually end up with no matter what view you book.

I remember our anniversary at SSR back in 2008 we had a preferred room and it had a view of a hill on the golf course, DH wasnt happy at all but I told him the golf course probably was a preferred view just not our version of one..

I'm trying not to think about how much extra we're spending for the view. Or I might just go back to Garden View CL. I figure it's for our 10th anniversary so, even if we do get ruined on doing CL which I think we might, we won't ever be booking TPV again.

Can someone remind me when you put your room requests in?

I seem to recall it's a couple weeks out or something; just want to be sure. I'm at a loss. Nothing to do. Can't book my ADRs yet. Nothing to plan yet. Driving myself crazy.

The view is so worth the money! :lovestruc I had only a partial Castle view at Poly CL and vowed that I would definitely book a TPV at some point to get a full on view - it was heaven watching Wishes from the bed, and getting to watch the Castle turn colors at night. :cloud9:

This is a great thread!! All the info on here helped me convince my parents to stay at Poly on their trip Feb 27-March 5th. They had a GV CL room in Hawaii and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! They both had an awesome time and can't stop talking and telling people what a wonderful trip they had and how marvelous the Poly is! I don't think they will ever try to stay any other resort! They loved the CL, thought the staff was excellent, the food was always plentiful, and enjoyed their bigger room. (Have only stayed at POFQ & POP prior to this). They really liked watching Wishes and the EWP from the beach and from the lounge. They also enjoyed the great transportation and liked the monorail to MK and was happy to catch it to Epcot from the TTC. They also caught the bus a couple of times to AK & DHS from the TTC. My mom said there was never a wait and the bus left right away and it would only have 10-15 people on it, so plenty of seating! They loved it so much they are paying for the CL upgrade for us on our next trip!! Can't beat that!!! Thanks for all the reviews, comments, and pictures, I will be keeping up with the latest on the Poly until we get to eventually head there ourselves in Oct 2012!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

How nice you are going for your 10th anniversary! Our 10th is this September but I don't think I can convince DH to go. I guess an anniversary means you both have to pick the place :confused3 :lmao:

I remember we were there at the same time-ish last year. :goodvibes Time to give 'im the ol' "full court press", Tinkerbellie! Twist that arm until he agrees it's the right option. ;)

I've been reading news of "new coffee machines" available in the CL lounges. Wondering if the Poly has been upgraded. My veins are only used to the strongest of tar-like real coffee and can't tolerate instant.
