ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

I have to admit that I'm another one of the minority here who prefers pinacolavas. It would be fantastic if they would serve them in a hollowed out pineapple too! I would also love to spork up some boozy pineappley goodness!
I can't believe I missed this golden Tag Fairy nugget:upsidedow

Looky yall! I could get the stitch to work in my signature for some reason so I downloaded it and used it as my avatar..

I know Im pinacolada girl but I want to be part of the club..Plus I love stitch..LOL

We're planning on staying at the poly with our 5 year old twins and our 3 month old for this june. what floor and longhouse do you recommend we request? we're planning on coming back to the resort in the afternoons for the baby to nap and her sisters to swim. we booked a garden view room. tia!

I had done the same thing! Mainly because either my pics or stitch would have gotten cut off because of the dis's siggy length limits. :upsidedow

Also, this may be a silly question, but can I just get the banana bread pudding ala cart to go even if we're not eating dinner at Ohana? All of the dinner reservations for that week at Ohana's are too late for us, but I really want to try the bread pudding!!

I'm sure others will provide input on the longhouse, we've only stayed in Hawaii. Anyhow we enjoyed our 3rd floor room MUCH better than our 1st floor room. On the 3rd floor we had no one walking above us, which typically isn't so bad, but since were an early to bed crew and I have a few light sleepers when we were on the 1st floor and the people above us arrived "home" (often much later than us) we would often hear them. We also liked the privacy of no one walking by our room and looking in (which would be the same of the 2nd or 3rd floor room). However having a 1st floor room, if you wanted to let your girls play outside while the baby napped, it would be a LOT easier to sit on the patio (1st floor) and watch them (with the baby inside) while they played outside on the grass. :thumbsup2

I also have only stayed in the Hawaii builing but after doing some research I cam up with:
Ratonga, Fiji or Aotearoa are close to the GCH, I would request a balcony so that you can go out on it while the kids nap..

Anxiously awaiting an email from the IPO about our reservations, should be either today or tomorrow that I hit the 180 mark for the Poly portion of our trip. I really can't believe I didn't just go and do it myself -- it's been like sitting on my hands for the past 3-4 days.:surfweb:

Want to know what the miracle is? I was actually able to sit down with the hubster and talk about the plans. :rotfl: He never, ever wants to talk about it.

I was anxious waiting to hear from IPO when my 180 came around b/c Im use to doing it and well my ADRs are just as important to me as going to WDW! LOL

I was able to sign in on disneyworld.com (if you have an account) and when I did it showed me all the ADRs they made for me earlier that day ( I did it around 1pm) I got an email from them the next day around 3 so Im so glad I looked online or I would have been pulling my hair out!

Hey you know what would be fun? Making name tags or shirts with our stitch logo on it..

Oh and while Im on the topic of shirts.. DS17 (will turn 18 right after our trip) is a HUGE stitch fan, he is wanting a hawaiin shirt that has stitch on it and I just cant seem to find any, Ive googled and googled (lol) if anyone sees one in adult sizes can you PM me pretty pretty please???

I think we need another club for that too! DHs just don't understand what work we put into these vacations!!! God forbid you mention a trip more than a week before you leave :headache:

Of course, this is coming from a die hard disney planner whose DH ( D does not = dear BTW) forgot his belt and underwear last trip :rotfl2:

No worries...DH did not go commando pulling his pants up the entire trip. MIL overnighted some boxers and his belt but he did have to use DD's hot pick ribbon to keep his shorts up until we got the package :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Please tell me D doesnt =divorced or dead..LOL

Thats funny, sounds like something DH would do if I didnt pack for him! :rotfl:

:lmao::lmao:

Sounds like two additional clubs are required ...

One for those of us who absolutely need to do the packing or risk underwear and belts being left at home ... or in my case, it'd probably be a "Home Alone" situation.

And, another one for those with hubbies who don't want to hear a single word about the Disney trip beforehand. Tell me, do you get the "Is this going to be about Disney AGAIN?!" with a sigh and a roll of the eyes if you try to broach the subject? :rotfl2:

LOL at "D" not standing for "Dear" in "DH"! I try to refrain from using that acronym for obvious reasons... :rolleyes1

BlueJasmine: Thanks for the tip about checking on my reservations online.:thumbsup2 I'll be refreshing that every 10 minutes or so.

Funny about the Stitch fan thing, my kiddo carries the Stitch she got from the Poly around with her a lot. She almost always has someone commenting on it or talking to her about it -- never when she's got Mickey or Minnie with her.

My Dh isnt so bad, he likes to be included in the initial booking and in decisions on our ADRs but after that he prefers to wait about two months out to really talk about it ( I should probably be honest and say I talk about it daily) and he even will rent disney movies to watch to gear up for the trip..

We send each other texts that say "only 2 more weeks till we are on the Poly beach" lol

I have a bunch of CDs somone made for me with all the ride songs and we listen to it on the drive down to WDW but I normally turn it off b/c he sings louder the closer we get! LOL

:lmao: If only!!! He!! would have to freeze over before you caught my "d"h singing in the car, let alone a Disney song. Me on the other hand the louder the better! :rolleyes1

I'm the camp with the other gals here. I propose a week and make sure there are no major conflicts and then stalk airline prices until I am ready to jump. I just give a heads up I purchased flights and he doesn't want to hear a peep about it until the week before when he usually asks for a reminder of what days he can't work. I'm the LOP (lone obsessive planner) here.

Sadly, I too am feeling somewhat deprived as I have not yet tried the infamous Lapu-Lapu (although DH has), but after reading about everyone's excitement about it, it looks like I just might have to break down and try one in May ... that is if you can tear me away from the Ku'ulei Punch in the Club Level Lounge :rolleyes1

:rotfl: I was dying reading this because my dh is exactly the same, although he is interested in our ADR's because the food is pretty much the only part of Disney that he enjoys (well the pool bar is fun too :thumbsup2)

The hilarious part is the my husband forgot to pack his underwear on the last trip too!! He ended up making a run to Walmart and doing some quick shopping.

Um, can I nominate myself president of the club for DWs who always do ALL the packing?

I've done ALL the packing for 24 years. If I didn't, one sock with holes and a trial sized tube of expired toothpaste might be about all that would be hastily packed.

I have printed lists (admit it, you do, too;)) made out weeks in advance to help ensure my packing success. I take pride when nothing is forgotten. Only once in our many trips to WDW have we had to break down and purchase something. It pained me to purchase dental floss when we ran out a few nights into the trip (they need to make see-thru floss containers). I now pack back-up floss! I learned the hard way (hangs head in shame).

I have the opposite DH who, like the "many moods of George Costanza" might just need an extra set of everything and has me "throw-in" more, just in case. Now if he were packing, the suitcase would be empty.

:hyper:I might have to switch to the avatar-sized one:scratchin. How do you make all these so quickly? Great job:thumbsup2.

My DH asks me almost daily if I'm going to make any changes to our reservation or if I've read anything interesting on the DIS. He knows I get resort remorse soon after booking. On top of that, he always tells me that he's happy with ANY (deluxe;)) resort and that he'll stay anywhere and that it's all up to me. Now, what kind of help is that?
