Woohoo, got another 2% off with the passholder rate today. :lmao: $70 bucks is $70 bucks though.... buys us lunch some day or a whole lotta dole whips. :rotfl2:

Does anyone have a picture of the recent refillable mugs? Last year they were the standard anywhere resort mug with either a yellow, red, or black top. But a few years ago I bought the 'POLY' refillable mug and I love using this at home (it doesn't have the skinny bottom to fit in the car though). Just wondering what they are doing this year. I'm going to get some this fall - whoo hoo!
The resort mugs are all the same--and are the same as last year, too.:sad2: I really don't need on staying CL, but if they had Poly mugs, I'd surely buy a few.

Or a few Lapu-lapus;)

Okay, Im a Poly newbie, so I have a few questions that you "Poly Experts" have answered here, I just havent found them yet..

1. Do all of the "standard" rooms (with a GV/LV or a TPV) have only 1 sink? I went to the Poly website & looked under room descriptions and it doesnt specify 2 sinks in any of the "standard" rooms - even the ones on the Club Level...

2. Can someone point me into the direction of good pics of the pool slide? We've stayed at the WL the last 2 years, and LOVE IT - but DH and I are looking for a change and my boys (10 & 8) think that the WL slide is kinda "wimpy"...but we love being right at MK..

3. What else can you tell me that makes the Poly a better pick over the WL?

THANKS!!!

Other than suites all Poly rooms are the same no matter the view. Three "newer" (all over 20 yrs old) longhouses have larger rooms - Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui. Disney just happened to make these rooms larger, but all Poly rooms are some of the largest on property. The first 4 resorts Disney built all have nice large rooms (CR, Poly, GF and the now SOG which was The Golf Resort/Disney Inn) Rapa Nui does have some double sinks in rooms other than the HC rooms. All sinks, in all longhouses, are inside the bathroom.

Sorry I cannot help with pool view pics, but am sure others can post some or direct you to good pics.:thumbsup2

I don't like to try to sell any resort to another guest - it's all such personal preference. If the South Seas theme is appealing, monorail and boat access, large rooms and a very relaxing environment, then you will probably at least like the Poly too. WL is unique and a favorite of many families - the rooms are quite small (same size as CBR which is a moderate), so you may very much enjoy the nice large rooms at the Poly.

If your kids want a more exciting pool, then SAB over at the Beach and Yacht clubs may be just the place!

Happy planning! :goodvibes

I saw that e-mail too, I'm not going, but I did think to myself, if anyone would get back 2% if they called...Good for you, $70 is nothing to sneeze at, and it's a meal for sure:thumbsup2

It's tricky to have good pics of the slide because it is essentially enclosed in the "volcano" (see the first page of this thread). I have never been on the slide at WL, so can't compare. The slide at Poly is quite fast & fully enclosed as I mentioned, so it's also quite dark. Hope that helps!

Check out tikiman's website for information on all the longhouses and the rooms. He tells you which longhouses have double sinks and which ones don't. This is a great site! Someone posted the link a couple posts back.

Check out the pics on the first page of this thread and on allearsnet of the Poly. But the previous post that this is hard to get is correct because it is mostly an 'enclosed' slide that goes through the volcano.

I have never been to WL so I can't tell you if Poly is better than WL in my opinion but I can tell you why I like the Poly. The main reason is the location - being on the monorail to MK and a short walk to the TTC to grab the monorail to Epcot. I also love the ambience of the resort - very relaxing and tropical. I enjoy the food at the Poly too and love the beach where the kids can play and we can watch the EWP and fireworks. I like the design of the rooms and the roominess of them (they are some of the largest rooms out of all Disney hotels).

Good luck!

Hi again Poly experts (I can't wait until I experience the Poly for myself so that I can answer some questions too, LOL)!

I was wondering the best way to get from the Poly to DHS and AK for RD. We will be staying in the Hawaii building if that makes a difference. Is it better to catch the bus at the Poly or walk to the TTC and catch a bus there? We are not opposed to taking a cab either.

Thanks so much!!

I found the link for tikiman's website - it is awesome!! Thanks!! :woohoo:

I also found a pic of the "exit" of the water slide on the allears website and that made it more clear to see it pop out of the volcano!!

I also found pics of the bathroom - and showing that the 1 sink was "inside" the entire bathroom..

At the WL they have 2 sinks and they are "outside" of the bathroom with the toilet/shower and that was really nice b/c I could have 1 kid showering and another (not bugging them) while they were brushing their teeth..

Are all of the bathrooms (including the ones that have 1 & 2 sinks) all enclosed with the sink, toilet and shower all "inside" the bathroom?? Or do any of them have the sink area outside of the toilet area?

This will be one of the first questions my DH will ask...you know how boys like their space and privacy!!

THANKS Poly pros!! :worship:

Hi - I answered your question above - you must have missed that post! :thumbsup2

Avery&Todd, we have stayed at both resorts and would take the Poly over WL any day. I wish the bathrooms did have 2 sinks, but our family of 5 was actually fine with the set up. The Poly bathrooms are quite large, too. Basically, we found that the pros of the Poly far outweigh the negatives.

Hope y'all have a great trip!

Sorry for the stupid question of the day, but I'm interested in the campfire at GF before the movie. Does the marshmellow "kit" includes the stick to cook the marshmellow? Or am I supposed to go around digging in the Poly landscape for a stick? I certainly don't want to do anything that is going to land me on one of those "I can't believe what I saw today at WDW" threads here in the Dis. :rotfl2:

A note about the bathrooms and this is just my opinion :goodvibes -
I personally like one sink because we can put all of our stuff on the counter. I also didn't like the sinks in the outside area at BC because I would make noise in the morning getting ready while my family was sleeping in. At the Poly, I can close the door to the bathroom and get ready without disturbing anyone. Same goes for naps or when the rest of the family wants to watch TV - you don't have to listen to someone using the sinks.

So I see the 'one sink' and 'inside the bathroom' as a pro and not a con at the Poly :thumbsup2

I have done the campfire at BC and they provided the sticks. But I would be interested in watching you dig some up :lmao:

Hey all! :goodvibes

A few more photos I took in Captain Cooks when I was at WDW last week.

Shot of the Polynesian from the GF beach. That longhouse on the water is 'crap'. Even the palmetto bugs avoid it. ;)

ITA!! I hated having the bathroom at the BC on the outside - there wasn't even a curtain separating it from the rest of the room, so I couldn't turn on a light in the morning for fear of waking someone! I like to close the door to the bathroom and have everything on the inside. That said, I'm very low maintenance and the rest of our family is boys, so no one spends too much time in the bathroom
