ALOHA! The Poly FAQ~ Spring 2010 Edition

We may have to shift our dates into the Oct to Dec range instead of late Sept b/c DH is having to cover his boss's maternity leave July-Sept. I know early Dec is nice as far as crowds and value season...but SOOOOO far away! I love going in Sept b/c all the rides are walk-on for the most part. What are Oct and Nov like? Is there a certain time period anyone recommends and why? The only good thing is DD has a few days off school here and there in Oct and Nov, not that missing 4 days is that much better than missing 5.:headache:

I unfortunately do not have any information because I've never gone in the fall or winter to Disney! But I have a question for you about late September because we are thinking of booking for this fall...is the weather too hot? I mean, in July it is sweltering so we have been booking end of April/beginning of May because of the nice weather. So I'm wondering how hot/rainy it is in September??? Anybody have opinions on this?

In September it was still pretty hot when we went and it still did the predictable noon rain shower. It is not as sweltering as July of course but the evening quick shower was stll there. Nights seemed to be a bit cooler.

As promised some pictures,

I can't believe I might book another trip to the POLY!!! Friends of ours want to go and my husband said OK :yay: We were looking at 1 BR at BLT but they aren't available with the discount. Of course my husband and I looked at each other and said "THE POLY!" No question! As soon as our friends give us the go ahead (and their credit card :lmao:), I'm going to book it. I picked one of the last weeks in September because my kids have 1 day off of school and I thought pulling them out for 4 days would be slightly less worse than 5 days. But I'd pull them out at any time for a family vacation - it is so worth the time together :grouphug:

I guess we'll have to deal with the heat by sipping a Pina Colava by the pool :beach:

DisneyMom3304;

Your pics made me so stoked for our trip! I can't wait! I am hoping to be like you a relaxed DIsney mom.

I wanted a beach vacation this year; the fellas wanted Disney. The Poly I think is a good compromise.

Who am I kdding, I wanted a Disney vacation at the Poly!:cool1:

Oh I forgot to tell you!!

Just upgraded to Garden View Club Level. Holy wow! This is our first deluxe and we are going big! I am so, so excited now.

And to think I was telling DH a couple of days ago that we should move ressie to POP because we haven't stayed there in a couple of years and I kind of missed it.

Hawaii is our long house right? I request a 3rd Floor view, really want a balcony. I really hope I get it! I'll take a first floor, just really don't want a second floor.

Rachael

Help! I need a quick answer for my TA. Originally we were going to stay club level but they didn't offer it for the military discount. They have opened a few...should we do it? We have stayed theme park view before and were going to again. For the discount, I would love to do it. Ideas? Thoughts?

The Poly is the perfect compromise!!! I wish I could answer your CL question but we had a garden view room...maybe next time I can talk my DH into the upgrade:lovestruc

That is just great!:cool1::thumbsup2 The crowds are really not bad then and I dont understand why people feel guilty about taking the kids out of school! if they have good grades all the teachers will give them makeup work.
our advantage is our kids are in a virtual school. they attend all their classes on the web! they can go to class anywhere there is internet!

Hawaii will be your longhouse! I wish that we could go back and stay at the Poly for the first time! Nothing beats the first time you go deluxe and especially the Poly! BTW second floor isnt as bad as others say! you are just down the hall from the main lounge no stairs or elevator. (the main lounge is on the second floor)

I am warning you... once you go to the Poly, you wont miss PoP! welcome:grouphug:

Seven weeks from this exact moment I will have checked in to the Dolphin for the first leg of our split stay!!! Cannot wait and these fabu pics are making me C-R-A-Z-Y!!! Come on, July!!!!!!

It is def very hot and very humid. However, I am from Charleston, so it just feels like home to me.;)
We usually go to the parks early, take a mid day break, and head back in the evening. We aren't there during the hottest part of the day. Now, you being from CO...might be a little rough on you.

I was just looking into this yesterday for my DD. She is going to 6th grade this coming August. I was checking private schools, but thought the virtual public charter school might be a good idea. Could you tell me how you and the kids like it. You can PM me so we don't get OT for the Poly thread.:)

I'm originally from Michigan so I had hot and humid summers but it's my husband (who is originally from Montana) who is being the biggest baby (did I say that???) :) BUT since our friends are willing to go, so is he.

But yes, CO is dry and it is a vast difference in FL for us. I also like the mid-day break - drinks at the pool!!!

Well, we did it. We just booked club level. I guess there's no going back now! My DH will probably kill me...so what can I do to convince him. I think the one thing I have for him is "free" beer. :)

Donnajean17 Thank You for the complement...it's my screensaver too:goodvibes It's so nice to have a place to share my pics with people who get it.:thumbsup2 Most of my family just doesnt get it:confused3 Thank goodness for the Dis boards:lovestruc

Yeah, that worked for my DH too, although he pretty quickly realized that it's not going to be so "free" - actually pretty expensive free beer! :rotfl2: HAHA!

Disneymom3304 - Your pictures are beautiful. I'm seriously thinking about requesting Figi! I thought I only wanted to request a balcony, but maybe i want to be more specific.

We enjoyed Capt. Cooks for lunch and breakfast very easy to use and never too busy(and I have seen the POP food court, I know busy):thumbsup2
I've been trying to get information about what is available for a snack credit at Captain Cook's besides pastries. Yogurt parfait? Cereal? Mixed fruit? My DD likes oatmeal. Do they have any cooked oatmeal or is it only the packets? Do they have anything that is whole grain?

TIA!

Cereal is available in various flavors in the single serve bowls. Multigrain bagels are in the pastry case they have yogurt single serve but I don't remember parfait's. They also have oatmeal in single serve bowls with a microwave to cook it in.
