Here's the response I rec'd from IPO this morning:

Gretchen

wow! Sorry about the mis-information! I cannot believe the WDW Travel didn't know about this! I hope that the rest of your stay is a magical one!! I still would not stay on another property! The Poly will make your move a seamless one!

Here is my quick recap of my stay at the Poly. Rooms pics are on previous page......

I would be happy to answer any questions..

Thanks for the review :thumbsup2 I am glad you had a wonderful time.

Just contacted Poly IPO for my 180 day ADRs, and heard back very quickly from them:thumbsup2

I am so happy. I love the Poly IPO and CL CMs

Here's the response I rec'd from IPO this morning:

Aloha!

Unfortunately there was been work planned on the building that requires everyone including staff to leave the building for 24 hours. We understand your concerns, but can assure you that the work will only take one day.

Unfortunately the ridge beam on the top of the building must be replaced and it is too dangerous to have anyone inside during this process.

If there is anything else that we can assist you with please let us know and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Mahalo,

At least now we know....
I'm sure everything will be fine.
Gretchen

Makes sense. I am glad you know why and hopefully the slight delay will be totally worth it! :goodvibes

We are heading for our first stay at POLY in 10 days!

Bringing my mother-in-law, who doesn't get around that great... We were thinking Samoa, because of proximity to pool(s) and GCH. How far of a walk is it from Samoa to the GCH? When my wife called to request our room this morning, the lady she talked to said it was a 10 minute walk, but I can't imagine that is true...

Can any of you POLY veterans help me out?

More like one minute! :goodvibes

Raratonga and Niue are even closer though.

I keep reading how crowded the Poly pool can get in the afternoon. Do they keep a supply of towels out by the pool or do we need to bring our own?

Plenty of towels by the pool. At times over the years, a lifeguard has checked ids at the towel huts.

We are headed for our 1st Disney trip in 2 weeks! I'll apologize now if I start throwing out a ton of questions as the pop into my head. :) Do we find out which building we will be in before we arrive? What about requesting a certain building or floor? Are there any spots with FREE wifi? I know that you can pay the $10 for 24-hour period, but I may have to check in some work e-mails once or twice and I didn't really want to have to pay if possible for that. Anyway, we are SO EXCITED! The kids still don't know we are going to Disney so I can't wait to see their faces.

My ticker disappeared ... I was so looking forward to seeing it ... must figure out how to fix it.....

You won't find out what building and room you are until you check in at the resort. You can call now to request a building or floor but remember, they are only requests and may not happen.

There is no free wi-fi at the Poly(hardly anywhere on Disney property) so you'll have to pay. My husband relies on his Blackberry to check his work emails if that is an option for you.

Have a great trip! How are you going to tell your kids?

Gretchen, just wanted to mention that we also moved buildings after our first night (our choice, though, to get into our beloved Tokelau). I wasn't thrilled about it, after the long drive there, really just wanted to get unpacked and in fact our arrival day we did no parks, so plenty of time to unpack. But we really wanted Tokelau, so we did it. Luckily, even though I hadn't planed for it, we were able to take just 2 bags out of the car. Since we had the car there, we just put them back in in the AM when we went to the MK, and then unloaded everything when we got back mid-day. It really wasn't bad at all, I unpacked stuff while they all headed to the pool and then I joined them. It was worth it for us to be where we wanted, so I hope it's not too bad for you!

You need to get a new ticker, which you can get through the disboards. Some of the old tickers from a particular website had viruses.

Are there specific hours that the pools are open? I know my husband and daughter will be looking for that last swim on the morning we have to leave (me - I'll be packing the suitcases :sad2:).

Thanks!

In October my DD and I are staying in a CL TPV room. These are all in the Hawaii building, right? Is the actual club lounge in the Hawaii building as well?
Also, will IPO contact me or do I need to contact them? :confused3

First off thank you to all who spend so much time making this one of the most informative sites on disboards. My concern is the conditions of the rooms. I have read on several post that the rooms are dated there is mold on the bathroom walls and the wallpaper is coming down, this is a problem for me after spending so much money on the vacation I expect to get at least what I paid for. It is not too late for me to switch to the GF for a little more money and I know the rooms are in great shape. Should I be concerned or are these isolated problems? Thanks in advance for your taking the time to answer!:wizard:

Just paid my balance in FULL!!!! We are Poly bound in 45 days~:dance3::cheer2::yay:

We've never had a rundown room (anywhere on Disney property, actually). The Poly in general is a bit of a throwback (at least to me) to the original Disney World, but everything has always been in working order. Compared to, say, the Contemporary it may seem a little "old fashioned," but I wouldn't say dated. The rooms underwent a renovation a few years back, and they're absolutely wonderful, IMO. Of course, each hotel, even the GF will have maintenance issues from time to time.

I am not sure about the TPV CL rooms all being in the Hawaii bldg, I would assume that they are. (We will be staying TPV CL in Dec. for first time). (Maybe someone who knows more about this than me can give you a more accurate answer)

Yes the club level lounge is in the Hawaii bldg.

IPO should contact you, but it wouldn't hurt to contact them yourself. That is what I did. That way you can make your requests and such. Happy Planning.

Lifeguards are not on duty 24 hours, but you can pretty much use the pools at any time--obviously, late at night and noise could be a problem, but otherwise it shouldn't be.

My husband and I often head to the quiet pool before 8:00 a.m. to sit, have coffee, read the paper, and wait on the kids to get up. Usually, the themed pool area is being cleaned from around 7-8 a.m. and there will be signs out if the pool is "closed".

CL TPV rooms are contained within Hawaii. The lounge/food/beverage service is on the second floor of Hawaii.

It doesn't hurt to contact IPO once your reservation is confirmed to avoid "falling through the cracks". IF you have a travel agent, they will not make contact with you directly because they will not have your personal contact information.

Hope you have a great vacation!

Sorry disneypro--didn't see you picked this one up! ;)

Oh goodness.... At least there were no water issues or somethign like that.

I hope that this doesn't cause any issues on our arrival day - April 16th - with everyone who was supposed to be in Hawaii having to move somewhere else on the 15th... Just the general idea of all those Hawaii occupants rooms being somewhere else on property and then having to move - that's a lot of extra cleaning and moving and "checking in" going on on the 16th. Although hopefully since it is a concierge building, everyone will be getting keys and so forth at the Hawaii building.
