Breezysmom - thanks for all the pics and info. Particlarly for posting the Newsletter with the activities. I had been wondering about that.

Does anyone know if the activites' time change depending on the time of the year? I see the lighting ceremony is at 6 pm on most days. Gosh, at 6 pm, I better be feeding my kids dinner (or waiting to get seated). Does anyone have any idea if that time varies? :confused3 We're planning a September trip.

It was at 6:00 when we were there in October.

Loving this thread, so far I have learned that the Poly is awesome. As usually people on the DIS rock at answering my 100 questions quickly and Tuvala is to be avoided at all costs (or requested upon check in).
However I am still lost as heck when it comes to the names of the building and all that but I am sure with much lurking I will understand.
Thanks for your help today ladies I believe I am done for the day!

This is one awesome website dedicated to all things poly! Check it out and you will be the expert in all things longhouse!!

Hi Everyone!
I am SUPER excited to see this thread as we will be @ the Poly the 1st week of August :yay:
It's going to be a big surprise for our girls, and a big thrill for hubby and myself. We have only ever stayed @ Caribbean Beach - and that was for our honeymoon 12 years ago!
I am going to be watching this thread so I will know all the ins and outs.
Thanks all!
:thumbsup2

No Tuvalu is the hot spot just stay away from that pit Tahiti noone wants to go there its too far away from the GCH and the noise from the ferries is unbearable everyone should stay far far way :rolleyes1

yep - might I recommend Rapa Nui for the best overall Poly experience.

I'm just under the 6 month mark(by a couple of days;))..which is a milestone to me. I already faxed over my ADR requests to the IPO and I think tomorrow is when they make them..:cool1:

Anytime I need a boost, I come to this thread-can't wait to go back!

Yep, it was 6PM last May as well. We saw it our arrival night - when we had 6:15 or 6:20 (can't remember) ressies at Kona! If you're planning on dinner at either Kona or Ohana on the trip, get an ADR around that time and do it that night.

8 more days and one more week of work til we head to the POLY :woohoo:

Has anyone else seen that Southwest Airlines has been added to the list of RAC participating airlines at the POLY? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2423456 We have never flown SW before but are this time so needless to say I am very excited that we will be able to use RAC to check our bags on the way home instead of lugging them to the airport and checking them there.

Also, I have been trying to do online check-in since this past Wednesday and keep getting a "system unavailable" type message. Has anyone else had trouble with this?

Until you are familiar with the layout of the Polynesian, perhaps you could have the map open in a separate window. The maps to each resort are in a sticky at the top of the Resorts Board page. Then, while you are reading posts, you could click on the map and see the location of the area being discussed.

The maps are really a great way to familiarize yourself with a new resort. The added benefit is when you do arrive for your vacation, you know where everything is just as if you had visited before. It sure makes that settling in time a lot easier!

Welcome to the Polynesian FAQ!

We are at the airport and yes I had to check the Poly threas one more time before we board to head ot Orlando. I'll try to check in while there but I might be busy in that hammock. I think I hear it calling to me now. :)

That is hilarious :rotfl: I've stayed in Rapa Nui and, while quiet and surrounded by lush landscaping, it was NOT the most exciting longhouse :rolleyes1

LOL, don't you two go dissing one of our favorite longhouses. :rotfl:

Those are the very things we love about it....quiet with lush landscaping not to mention the shortest walk to the TTC. There is a parking lot directly in front of the longhouse with a porte cochere to pull up for those rainy mornings or to drop off luggage upon arrival. Larger rooms. We love it. 'Course I would not want a room that faces the parking lot.;)

I know I've said it a million times but I truly think every longhouse has its advantages.

Great job on a new FAQ, BreezysMom. At this rate, you will be starting a new one by April. :grouphug:

I know we all have our favorite longhouse (tuvalu here) but in the end every longhouse at the Poly is great. I think even the "worst" view at the Poly is no where near as bad as some you get at other resorts. There was a thread awhile back where people posted their bad views at other resorts and boy some of them where bad!. One person overlooked the back with all the garbarge dumpsters and service trucks and another just had a green expanse of roof! So you can't go wrong with any room you get at the Poly.

Loving this new Poly thread! Thanks BreezysMom! :goodvibes

With snow falling after a week of weather in the 6o's and sun, I am dreaming even more of our magical retreat! A little over 5 mo. to go for us!

Best wishes to all those leaving soon!!!!! :beach:

:faint:

Thank you BreezysMom! I just read through the first page and even though I consider myself a Poly vet I learned something new!

I had no clue about the movie or campfire! We've stayed at the Poly every year since 2003-except for last year-and this is the first time I've ever seen or hear of this.

We are returning in June with our grandkids and I'm going to try and get this fit into our plans.

Of course I went on to see the CL pics :guilty: maybe someday :cloud9:, but for now I'm happy to be staying at our favorite LH Tokelau :goodvibes

Thanks again :worship:

You should definitely try to fit this in. Our kids loved it....dancing around the beach at night (they play tween type Disney music before the movie starts). They loved the campfire and sitting by the lagoon under the stars while watching the movie. Have fun!

Dawgdad & maiapapaya,

You two are hysterical!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes it was your pics that convinced me to upgrade to TPV but you will be happy to learn that I requested a 3rd floor balcony in Tahiti as my first choice. :cheer2: So sorry Capt. Barbosa pirate:!!! :cutie: I just love the idea of having the beach :beach: as part of our view and the ferryboats will just add to experience, even if they are loud enough to wake the dead! :lmao::faint:

Breezysmom,

:thanks:Thank you for your hard work on starting the new thread. :thumbsup2 YOU Rock! :rockband:

I saw those pics, YIKES!

I am so happy to be staying at the Poly :cloud9:, even though I made a specific request, I am sure I will be happy with whatever I get! I do not hear much talk about Aotearoa on this thread but the pics on Tikimans site from Aotearoa are gorgeous. And I "think" it looks like you could take a lovely evening stroll to the GV from this longhouse! And aren't those campfire movies offered on the beach near there?

So yes, from what I have seen and read, I think you probably can't go wrong at the Poly! :lovestruc:lovestruc

Woohoo I'm post #100!

I'm currently in the throes of the "which longhouse to request" angst. We have a GV booked and may upgrade "on the fly" to TPV if we have the extra cash.

I'm open to suggestions. :)
