Hi everyone,

I am in a bind. This is the deal... I was originally booked at the Poly GVCL for 4 nights for our 20th anniversary. My DH has to wrk now. :sad2:

We are trying to rebook for the last week of July. My TA said our options are to go TPVCL for more money and for 3 nights, or do just the reg GV for 4 nights. GVCL is not available.

Keep in mind that we are only doing the MK for a day and DD. We want to enjoy the resort and relax.

What would you do??? Stay for CL which we would love to do, but for only 3 nights with a view we really do not need, or GV with an extra night and a little extra money, but without the lounge that we really love. I can see both sides, but I just do not know.

Time is ticking...

We were put in Fiji, 2nd floor, no balcony..hmmmmmm......

The original longhouses have no 2nd floor balconies...but 1st floor has "patio" and 3rd floor have great little balconies. This is a bummer if no 3rd or 1st fl rooms available there.

We were on the side facing the Luau - could definitely hear it.

You can faintly hear the drums, but nothing that would keep most people awake at night. It's kind of cool, actually. And I think the second seating is done by 1030ish?

We also just didn't find the location very convenient for us.

It is a bit further to the TTC and the parking lot than some of the other longhouses, but very convenient to both pools, the GCH, monorail, buses, beach and Luau.

We were so happy to get "home" the next day!! I think it IS what you get used to and also personal preferences.

So true! One of the reasons we love it is b/c it is where my DW stayed as a kid!

I know a lot of people LOVE Fiji!

Oh yeah!

if I were you I would not give up a night at the poly in order to stay in TPVCL!
It sounds as if the view doesn't seem too important! Who knows you may get there and find pixie dusted upgrade! 20 year anniversary is a big deal!

We would like to congratulate you guys! We will be there when you are! Let us buy you a drink!

ITA! The garden views at Poly are LOVELY, and you can use the money saved by not going CL elsewhere. Have fun!

Hi mamabright! Glad you're enjoying your stay! I hope it doesn't rain for too long. :)

How awesome! :cool1: And your trip is just around the corner.
The weather should be fantastic! :cutie: Congratulations.

I see we have a new home!

Just <checks ticker> 76 more days until our first stay at the Poly!

Thanks again BreezysMom for all of this wonderful info. It really helped make planning a lot easier. :)

Yes, thank you Breezy's Mom!

I always love more Polynesian info and pictures

We'll be back real soon

Typical....:confused3

I hope most of the information is still the same? I can understand new marketing and streamlining for different resorts but like you say, another Poly tradition gone :sad1:

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

Yes, most of the info is exactly the same. I'll have to compare them a bit more. I noticed one activity missing.

I actually think this format makes more sense. It can be tossed in backpack, purse or pocket for quick reference. Soon we'll all be used to it. Kind of like when they changed the names of the longhouses. We were really sad at first but now can hardly remember the old order. I do know Pago Pago became Rapa Nui. :goodvibes

I requested Figi for our August trip. Why is everyone bashing this longhouse? When I made the reservation the CM recommended this building.

My DS2 and I stayed in Fiji for the first time last month and loved it. I think all the longhouses have more advantages than disadvantages. We've stayed at the Polynesian over 30 times and can't even say we have a favorite longhouse.

I am here and loving it. We went to AK today and left when it started monsoon raining. We were soaked and came back to our fabulous room in Tokelau which is far enough from everything to be super quiet but a super short walk (even in the rain). We may have to order roomservice tonight because I'm not going back out in the rain.

Have a great vacation and Aloha!

Love the new thread!! I just can't get enough of reading about the Poly!! DFi says i'll be an expert by the time we arrive!!

I am getting nervous only two more days until CL makes my ADR's for me...So far they have been great I'm just slightly uncomfortable with someone else "taking over"..my soon to be hubby is so proud...I have a hard time delegating (especially with my wedding and honeymoon stuff) so he says this is a big step for me :rotfl:

Yay for almost 180 days until the Poly!! :yay:

Just have to post - I am sooooooooooo excited! After switching resorts (BC, then Poly, then POR) we have changed back to the Poly - just couldn't stay away! We are not telling the kids until we get there, they will be so happy!!! Who am I kidding, I am going to be so happy to drive up to that beautiful resort again :cloud9:!

I can just hear their happy and excited screams now :goodvibes

The Poly is where my husband and I spent our honeymoon, I only had one of two choices 22 years ago :lmao: Let them make your adr's you won't be sorry. I got everything I wanted for our upcoming trip in May. They also set up our tours (segeway and keys to the Kingdom) and ordered us our anniversary Haunted Mansion cake at the California Grill, a surprise for my DH. I loved having someone do my work for me :)

okay so I KNOW this has been asked a million times(so I apologize) but I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for.
How do you put in a request? I would love to request a balcony. :flower3:

If you booked a room-only reservation through Disney, just call and add the request to your reservation. I suppose the same goes w/ a package. If you booked through a travel agent, do it through them. Good luck!

Thanks to Breezysmom and all who contribute:). Been lurking for a while...it took me months to read the previous thread and get caught up on this one.

Thanks to this thread (the old one), I convinced my wife, back around December, that we should stay at Poly on our next trip, which we were planning on for summer 2011. But, the more I read and the more pictures I saw, the more I just couldn't wait:hourglass.

We first joked about going this July, then began to justify it. We figured we'd make a room reservation and some ADR's...no financial commitment, so no harm done, right? Wrong...I am now emotionally committed even though there's still a couple of obstacles in our way to our potential July trip...We should know by the end of April, if it's a go.

I've never been there, but thanks to all you great folks, I think it's my favorite place, ever.:thumbsup2

And thanks for clearing up the issue about which Longhouse is the best:rotfl2:

Trying to decide on a MK Cl room or a garden view room. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite last year and LOVED it. Its not available for the time we are going, just a garden view or a MK CL view. We really enjoy the perks of a CL room and am afraid we will miss it. This will be for hubby's 40 th birthday. Any thoughts?

Hope you get to go - the Poly is divine :cloud9:

I've stayed in both GV CL and LV CL (our room would now be categorized as TPV CL)
For your DH's 40th I would definitely go for the TPV CL. Absolutely amazing views! Plus the lounge - and just being in the Hawaii longhouse - is awesome!! :cool1:

Here are 2 pics from the balcony of our third floor room in Hawaii :yay:

Oh yeah!

Just wanted to add a few things. First, my "hmmmm..." wasn't because I wasn't aware that the older buildings don't have 2nd floor balconies, it was b/c our requests were completely "ignored" or not able to be met. Almost like they weren't seen. Not the building OR the floor. There's just no way no outdoor space at all would've worked for us for a week. A balcony, yes, (though we prefer the patio) but nothing at all, no.

Secondly, we found the Luau noise to be more than faint. This could be b/c it was our arrival day and we were all trying to get to bed early (well early for DH and I) to be ready for our first RD in the AM. We watched the EWP and Wishes (9pm) from the beach, and went straight to bed. It wasn't Loud, no, but it was...distracting.. I guess would be the best word, as we tried to fall asleep. Probably compounded by the fact that DH and I were trying to go to bed at 9:30 or so, LOL!! I don't know if it would've bothered us the rest of the week or not - maybe being more tired and also going to bed at a more normal hour - wouldn't have been an issue? Don't know.

We definitely found Fiji convenient to the GCH and monorail. About equally convenient to the beach (different beaches) and pool. We don't do the Luau or use the buses, so that was not an issue. I guess we just really like being more central to the TTC and in a "quieter area". The marina is not a draw for us at all, so that may be part of what I didn't like. I prefer walking through the lush landscaping to walking around the marina.

But to each his own, we're all so lucky to be able to go to the Poly at all!! And there's a longhouse for everyone!
