We just returned on Saturday from a five night graduation trip to the Poly. I absolutely loved every second of it! I went into the trip with pretty high expectations. I had never stayed in a deluxe resort before, so I expected a lot. The Poly exceeded every one.
We booked club level lagoon view and asked for a 3rd floor balcony. Whenever I found out about theme park view rooms taking up most of the 3rd floor, I was a little worried but decided to just see what happened. We got room 3518, which was the one LV room. Imagine my surprise when I walked in the door and immediately saw the castle. It really was a beautiful view! I honestly am not sure why it isnt considered theme park view. Another great thing about this room was that it was at the very end of the hall next to an outside stairway. That hallway was so cold, especially after swimming, and it was nice to be able to quickly get in the room!
The club level lounge really was a great convenience. We didnt use it as much as we would have liked, but when we did, everything was great. Being able to have breakfast in there each morning was a great bonus.
I had read a lot recently about the Poly cast members not being very friendly. I found this to be as far from the truth as possible. Everyone we talked to from the time we got there to the end was very nice. There were several times that theyd see the two of us taking photos of one another and offer to take one of both of us. And anytime wed walk by a CM, they would always say aloha.
We ate at Kona, the Spirit of Aloha luau, and Captain Cooks. Kona was probably one of my top two restaurants from the entire trip! I had a lot of reservations with the luau after reading some not very positive reviews online, but it was such a great experience. I had warned my boyfriend that the food may not be as good as he was expecting, but neither one of us could understand where these reviews were coming from. The food was outstanding, and we really enjoyed the show. The fire dancer was amazing! Captain Cooks was wonderful as well. I discovered a love for dole whip that stuff is soo good!
We used both the main pool and the quiet pool. The volcano pool was very crowded in the afternoons, so we would usually end up over at the quiet pool. Both were great though!
Now that Ive rambled forever, thank you to everyone for all of your tips and advice on this thread. We couldnt decide which resort to stay at, and the last Poly FAQs thread made the decision for us. It ended up being the best decision we made. It is really hard to beat the convenience of the Poly (especially being able to walk to the TTC & take the boat to the MK), and I have a feeling it will be hard for me to ever want to stay anywhere else!
