START packing?? I was packed for over a MONTH last time WE went ('cept for "seat covers" and socks) !!

Sending pixie dust for a magical time! :tink:

Thanks for the PD!!!

We usually start packing a lot earlier, but since it's just DH and I, and we're only going for a long weekend it's not such a big deal. We're also flying for the first time (we live 7 hrs. from Disney) so that'll cut down on a lot since we're just taking carry ons.

We're not going until NEXT year and I just about have all my outfits lined up for the trip! (they'd be in a suitcase already, but I may need the suitcase before then! haha) I refuse to wear them before DW! This years trip was postponed due DD's surgery.

Yes, before you ask, she is doing much better and will feel 100% better than our last trip.

So we just got back Tuesday from our CL stay at the Poly  The resort is just as lovely as when we stayed there 22 years ago, trees were a lot taller, though :)The gardenias around the resort are second to none! The smell brought us right back to our honeymoon. One of the best parts was that from our balcony, this stay, we could see the room we stayed at all those years ago.

Here are my thoughts on CL, please don't flame me, they are just MHO. The best part was Wishes in the lounge, good grief, the only better place is at the California Grill. It made me cry every time, pathetic, I know. Also, I loved having breakfast each morning. Something nice and light and not having to vie for a table amongst the rest of the rabble (I am one of the rabble ;) ) As for the rest of it, I'm not sure I will ever have to stay CL again. It had really great parts to it but as for the value for the dollar, not so much. I forgot to pack my husband's sneakers. I went down to the desk, she was no help at all and didn't even try. The woman and the bou-tiki was very helpful even though I never could find sneakers in size 12 :( Also, our first night we came back from DHS, we were standing at the counter to get a beer. The CM served people standing in front of us, as we got to the front she said "sorry it's 10:00 you're too late" Us being dorks started to just walk away, the guy behind us says could I get a Bud and she got him one?? huh?? So we said something and with some hesitation she finally got us a beer. I know they have to shut it down at 10 but we were standing there before 10, I was very unimpressed. Other times we found food was put away before the serving time was up. We hardly took advantage of anything but breakfast but when we went out of our way one day to go grab a little something, it was already gone. I know that may sound petty but if it should be there to a certain time, it should be, just that.

In hind sight, I'm so glad we stayed CL. We really did enjoy it and some of the perks and since we are now DVC we probably will never stay CL again but I don't think we would ever do it again, anyway.

I agree with your assessment of Poly CL. I wasn't all that impressed with it. I do like staying Poly GV though - so I think I'll just stick with that. :)

Glad you had a good trip otherwise though! :goodvibes

One month until a 20 year anniversary celebration at the Poly.:cloud9:

:worship:Now if only I could get Ohana's. No luck and I have been trying for months.

I have always felt like I was missing something...some people go on and on how glorious CL is, I looked into and I just about croaked when I saw the price tag of the rooms. I have just never bought into the "CL" level...

Now I can understand a lagoon or castle view, but CL prices are just out and out ridiculous to me. :confused3

I think the GV rate is too pricey though...so maybe I am just skinflint:lmao:

All that being said I do not begrudge anyone blowing their money the way they see fit to do so...to each his own. ;)

Celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary at the POLY!!!

We are so excited!! Our DS and DD are coming too 7 and 9 respectively.

i cant wait untill i go back to the poly i hope my family gets upgraded to a TPV even tho garden views are nice at the poly we stayed one in 2008 i just love the poly

ok Poly fans, we are booked for our first Poly stay the week of November 13th. But we need to move it to attend a very special wedding for our friends.

Here's the issue - we need to pick between the week of October 14th and the week of December 4th. I'm worried October will be too hot, but I worry a tad about Chicago weather in December (I'm nuts about planning, I know).

thoughts on which we'd enjoy more, October or December? I know December would actually be slightly lower resort prices, so that is a plus. But October would come sooner, lol!

I have traveled in December. Beautiful and low crowds. I would probably choose that again. Also, lower prices are nice.:thumbsup2
That was our 2nd choice, but we picked Sept b/c of having down days at the pool. Being from Charleston, we don't have thick enough skin to swim in Dec, even in a heated pool.:)
We will prob do Dec again for our 2011 trip. Another thought is that the F&W festival is in Oct, if you are interested in that.

Next week this time, I will be looking at the castle from my room!!!! We can hardly wait. I have sooooooo much to do!

I went to the dollar tree this evening for some bday party supplies and there was tons of great disney pool and beach stuff. I grabbed a ton to save and put out in the room when we go. Way better than spending $300 on a Grand Celebration or whatever it is called.;)
Buckets, beach balls, water bomb balls, even disney goggles. Can't wait for "Mickey" to suprise the kids. :goodvibes
Just a heads up for those who might be interested...

I haven't stayed at Poly yet, but I can tell you that the monorail isn't loud when you are standing directly under the track, so probably not. HTH!

Last trip we were in Roratonga - facing the monorail 1st floor and with the door closed we NEVER heard it at all - in fact unless we had the blinds open we would have no idea it was going by.

Thank you so much. I was discussing with dh the different longhouses and he was worried it would be noisey with the monorail nearby. I just wanted to be able to reassure him.

I am hitting the dollar store today! I get so exited for stuff like this:rotfl:, I think there is something seriously wrong with me. No grown woman should get this exited about going to the Dollar Store.:lmao:

Just to add, I got crazy excited at the dollar store a few years ago getting a ton of luau stuff for our trip to the Poly. The store management probably wanted to check my blood alcohol level. LOL!

We leave in 4 days. Can you say I am apprehensive and underwhelmed? I just read the report of the comforters from the girl on another thread and she gave the Poly one a last place because of the dried up blue icing on it:scared1:, oh I just so want to have a good b day and anniv after all this cancer crap I have been going through lately.

I will also give an honest report, wether good or bad when we get back too. If my dh brings his laptop I might go live one day, we will see.

I am not reading the other thread but if I had a comforter with dried blue icing on it, I would politely ask for a new one or for that one to be washed. No biggie. But I guess I am not that picky and about things like that. Now if there was a flood in my room and I didn't get a new room, then I would be very upset.

No worries, I was super excited last night when I found the stuff! Don't forget to grab glow necklaces too.;)
Also, just fyi, our target dollar bins at the front of the store frequently have disney stuff that I pick up and save for treats on our trips. I usually get stuff to make the kids new bags of stuff to do in the car (like pads of paper and crayons) and things to give them while we are there so they don't want every balloon etc that they see. Those light up toys the CMs sell during parades/shows are outrageous! My kids are perfectly happy with a $1 pack of new glow accessories.:thumbsup2
I will get away with it as long as I can:laughing:

I have never had a bad experience at Disney and our cruise was superb also. I think some people are just uptight.
I am sure things can be less than perfect, but take it in stride and you will have a great time.
If you are worried, ask mousekeeping for a freshly laundered bedspread when you arrive very politely and give them a tip. I am sure they won't mind helping you out.
Hope you have a great time! Looking forward to your trip report.:goodvibes
