Blue icing on the bedspread? Kinda gross but I can see how it would be overlooked given the color and design of the bedspreads. Yeah--I wouldn't freak out. I would just take it off, ball it up and call housekeeping for fresh bedspeads. My experience at the Poly has been friendly and prompt service from housekeeping:thumbsup2

Just to let everyone know, the bedspread is not taken off and cleaned after each guest in most hotels! We always take that nasty bedspread and throw it off onto the floor! Neither are the pillows!

Good Morning, Poly friends! Seems like we had a quite a few people at the Poly last week so I'm anxiously awaiting reports.

Looks like I'll have to continue to live vicariously through you guys. :sad1: As last night DH said he just felt like it was too much money right now, and the girls aren't too hung up on a WDW trip. Especially knowing there's "a chance" (nobody knows I rented and booked, LOL) of a Christmas trip to WDW. However, that will be at VWL. While fabulous and Christmasy, it still won't be a Poly/Beach trip w/warm weather and swimming. I suppose that is the great thing about WDW, all the resorts create many very different experiences and vacations.

Perhaps a great bounceback will be there to plan accordingly for next summer or a PIN in my future for which I can plan better. I still have yet to bring myself to pull the trigger and cancel though, LOL.

I'm so glad to have DIS. You guys are the only ones who understand (partly because you help create this monster of my WDW obsession, LOL). I wish I had a friend or my sister would share this and we could do girlstrip getaways.

My family is thinking about heading to the Poly this August (but I am still waiting for a happy PIN). I am curious, if the resort is fairly full, how crazy busy is the pool, lobby, beach, Captain Cooks, etc... Basically how crazy busy does this resort get? I have convinced my husband to stay there based on the relaxing beach feel, am I lying???:confused3

TIA,

K in SA

We have not been to WDW since 2000, but we are also headed "HOME" to the Poly in August.

All of our previous trips have been in July - one over the 4th. Crowded? Yes. Unmanagable? No.

If you plan your days carefully.... try to be where everyone else is not.... you will do fine. I guess my best advice is to be flexible. If we planned to swim and the pool was packed, we would head to a park or relax on the beach. If the pool was empty we would run for the room, grab our suits and swim until the crowds picked up. The beach is large enough that it always seemed to be pretty easy to find a space to relax.

Good luck and maybe we'll see ya there!

It looks like your last stay was at pop century! I can guarantee that the poly at anytime will be more laid back and relaxing than any time at pop! I am the type that really hates being in the thick of crowds and only a couple times did I feel closed in. The bus rides and the monorail is a breeze and you are not as packed on a bus like you would Be at pop! You and your husband are in for a real treat!

Just got back from the Poly last night - stayed Garden View CL and it was FANTASTIC! Room was immaculate, only came across 1 grumpy cast member (the girl at the valet desk) and the resort was beautiful as always. We upgraded our September trip to TPV-CL with the bounceback (40% off)!!!

I'm already counting the days until we can go back!!! :cloud9:

Just got back to today from our first Poly stay! It was amazing, beautiful and relaxing. Will upload pictures and do a mini review soon!!! I dont know how I can stay any where else!!! This resort has me hooked along with my DD and DH which is always a plus :thumbsup2

So glad you had a wonderful time. The Poly is just magical!

I tried (kinda) to persuade my kids to doing the CBR this fall to slide in an extra trip with just them and keep it at budget. They begged and pleaded to stay at the Poly. Sooooooo we are going during value season and going back home to the Poly. I really tried.:rotfl2:

I can't wait for some reviews!!!:yay::yay::yay: It will help pass the time until we can be at the POLY!:cloud9:

O.K. where is this review with the "blue frosting" I have looked and looked and still can not find it???

Just got back from our first trip to the Poly a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely loved it! We stayed TPV & wouldn't have it any other way. It is our favorite out of the four deluxes we've stayed at so far. DH said the resort made the trip for him this time.

We're thinking about going back in December. Any recommendations on what which would be the best week to go? We've never been that time of year. Thanks!

Early Dec is your best bet. The first 2 weeks are good. The closer you get the Christmas, the more the crowds pick up. Early Dec is our 2nd favorite time to visit, just behind September.:thumbsup2

12 more days until our Polynesian vacation! I plan to do on-line check-in on Friday if I can request a balcony? Or should I call and have it noted on our reservation? I did our building request already, should I just add the balcony to that?

Thanks! I'm leaning towards the 2nd Week because that works best with our work schedules.

We just returned on Saturday from a five night graduation trip to the Poly. I absolutely loved every second of it! I went into the trip with pretty high expectations. I had never stayed in a deluxe resort before, so I expected a lot. The Poly exceeded every one.

We booked club level lagoon view and asked for a 3rd floor balcony. Whenever I found out about theme park view rooms taking up most of the 3rd floor, I was a little worried but decided to just see what happened. We got room 3518, which was the one LV room. Imagine my surprise when I walked in the door and immediately saw the castle. It really was a beautiful view! I honestly am not sure why it isn’t considered theme park view. Another great thing about this room was that it was at the very end of the hall next to an outside stairway. That hallway was so cold, especially after swimming, and it was nice to be able to quickly get in the room!

The club level lounge really was a great convenience. We didn’t use it as much as we would have liked, but when we did, everything was great. Being able to have breakfast in there each morning was a great bonus.

I had read a lot recently about the Poly cast members not being very friendly. I found this to be as far from the truth as possible. Everyone we talked to from the time we got there to the end was very nice. There were several times that they’d see the two of us taking photos of one another and offer to take one of both of us. And anytime we’d walk by a CM, they would always say aloha.

We ate at Kona, the Spirit of Aloha luau, and Captain Cook’s. Kona was probably one of my top two restaurants from the entire trip! I had a lot of reservations with the luau after reading some not very positive reviews online, but it was such a great experience. I had warned my boyfriend that the food may not be as good as he was expecting, but neither one of us could understand where these reviews were coming from. The food was outstanding, and we really enjoyed the show. The fire dancer was amazing! Captain Cook’s was wonderful as well. I discovered a love for dole whip – that stuff is soo good!

We used both the main pool and the quiet pool. The volcano pool was very crowded in the afternoons, so we would usually end up over at the quiet pool. Both were great though!

Now that I’ve rambled forever, thank you to everyone for all of your tips and advice on this thread. We couldn’t decide which resort to stay at, and the last Poly FAQs thread made the decision for us. It ended up being the best decision we made. It is really hard to beat the convenience of the Poly (especially being able to walk to the TTC & take the boat to the MK), and I have a feeling it will be hard for me to ever want to stay anywhere else!

WOW!!! This is so cool, with so many of us who are going that week, is there going to be any rooms for just normal people that aren't on the DIS Poly Thread?:lmao::rotfl:

I felt a moment of panic when I read 52 POLY DIS'ers would be at the POLY at the same time...The panic was from the thought "were they going my week?", because it will really be hard to get my requsted longhouse:lmao:

Not that I would not love meeting fellow DIS'ers:rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

So good to know...note to self 1st week in Dec....low crowds but high on DIS'ers at the POLY:goodvibes
