Thanks for posting your photos Alison. Keep them coming!! Would love to see more. I'm really looking forward to our first Poly stay in August.

We leave today!:cool1: I am so excited!!!! Cant wait to come back and share pictures. Thank you to everyone on this thread...I feel so informed!:thumbsup2

Can't let this thread fall too far off first page.:) I love looking at the photos, although it's adding to my torture of a wait.

Anyone else drive themselves nuts while waiting for their trip? I've been going back and forth about upgrading to CL or adding the dining plan or....
Neither of those would be worth it or cost effective in my case for this trip, but I'm debating myself anyway!

65 more days until my trip :wizard:

just did on-line check-in and registered our pp card. We leave 2am tues morning!!!:banana:

And they still have no idea.

WARNING: OCD Mom asking a completely OCD question :lmao:

I see in these pics kids playing in the sand at the "beach." I've read about the amoeba in the water and how you cannot swim in it. But is it safe for the kids to plunge a bucket to use in molding and playing in the sand? Or should I keep the kids totally away from the water?

Question #2: I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to do breakfast at Captain Cook's with snack credits. Has anyone used snack credits at Captain Cook's in the morning? What did you get?

I'd be bursting at the seams!! How have you not exploded?:wizard::cheer2:

It hasn't been easy. Fortunately, I'm hosting a Mother's Day lunch for both my mom and M.I.L on Sunday, so I'm busy organizing that. All the kids and I will spend Sat. morning at Costco, and then the afternoon preparing everything for Sunday. Then Monday while they are at school, since even the 4yo goes to JK, the truck wil be packed. DH will keep the little ones busy and I'll hit the hay about 8pm Monday. I'll probably need drugs to sleep:laughing:
When I made the drive on Xmas night last yr it was through freezing rain and I drove for 17 straight hrs, with all the kids!!!:scared1:
This will be a piece of cake, and I love driving at night. I know it sounds crazy:eek:

I can't answer your question about the buckets in the water. I'm wondering myself about the safety of getting splashed by water if we rent sea raycers...

About CC's, we always use snack credits for breakfast when we are on the DDP, and find it very easy and convenient to find something. We enjoy the yogurt parfaits which have fresh berries and granola in them, and are very filling. They also offer bagels, croissants and a variety of sweet rolls (muffins, cinnamon buns), whole fruits, fruit cups...and some CMs would allow cereal with milk (though technically, cereal plus milk is supposed to be 2 credits). You can use the milk dispenser by the coffee to take just a little milk for the cereal instead of the half-pint carton, if you ask, we have never had anyone say no. I think you are even allowed to get a bowl of oatmeal, if memory serves me.

I do the same thing...price out this, price out that. I don't know why!?!? Was debating switching to AKL CL for about the same price as what we have now at Poly GV but the pics a few posts up remind me why I picked Poly to begin with! You are not alone!;)

I'm sooooo glad for these Disney resort forums, as it's comforting to know there are others out there just like me :cool1:

My trip is still over 150 days away, and here I am :)

One comment on the dining plan, to me, it's more than just saving, or not saving money, as the case may be. By nature, I'm a cheapskate, to a fault. I'd drink water at every meal, never have deserts, have the kids split their fries, etc... And I really don't even enjoy doing it. The dining plan is a god-send! My family can get whatever they want, we can get deserts, appetizers, the works. I know I may even loose money on it, but I don't care, I'm footloose and carefree at every meal...priceless!

I'm with you on that. I doubt the dining plan will save us much, but I like the no worries approach to meals. My kids are teens and somedays they eat a lot, others days, not so much. But I won't worry. If they want steak, then no big deal!

How exciting! I wouldn't be able to do that drive, though. As soon as I get in a car, I want to sleep. Must've been all those car trips as a kid--it was either be carsick or sleep.;)

I am providing this post with the note that at the time I did not know about any creepy amoebas or things in the beach water, it only said no swimming, so having said that ;)

1: My dd played in the water at the Poly and survived :rotfl: She dipped buckets, caught baby fish and had a grand old time, probably played in it for a few hours if I remember correctly.

#2: It can be done. I believe the fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt etc are all considered snacks on the dining plan. If you check the dining plan thread it will have a list of all of the snacks that you can get with the ddp. I am not a big bfast eater, so I typically get the fruit salad and a coffee.

Stay at the Polynesian! With the ages of your kids, the monorail is priceless. Seriously. :thumbsup2

You've given me food for thought. Now I'll go price it out again and analyze some more. Good times. :surfweb: :)

Hello everyone, we're back from our 8 day vacation at the Poly. We LOVED the Poly. The theming, the scents, the room size, the CM's, Capt Cooks, Ohana's, Kona Kafe. There really was nothing that we didn't like about it. Ok, the laundry facilities were sadly lacking. Half the washers were broken and out of service, the coke machine ate my money but I didn't let it get to me.. we were on vacay!! We were booked for a GV room but at checkin a really great CM upgraded us to a lagoon view. We were in room 1412 in Tuvalu. We were awestruck at the view. The GF was to the left, the MK in front of us and Space Mt to the right. We have 3 small kids so the monorail was priceless to us. We visited other resorts but nothing compared to the Poly. We're going back in 2 years (once our baby is about 3) and we're def. staying at the Poly.
Our last night there we ate at Ohana's (SO GOOD) and we went back to our room to watch the water parade and wishes. My 6 yo DS started to cry because our stay was coming to a close. This was the best vacation of our lives.

Welcome back! So glad to hear your family had such a wonderful vacation! What a magical upgrade! Did you ask to be upgraded, or was it a surprise?
