Question #2: I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to do breakfast at Captain Cook's with snack credits. Has anyone used snack credits at Captain Cook's in the morning? What did you get?

Here is a list of snacks that I got from allears.net. We mostly used snacks rather that counter service for breakfast...

French Fries
Vanilla Dole Whip
Pineapple Dole Whip
Individual bowls of cereal; Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops, Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies Quaker Oatmeal
Pint of milk
Side salad w/ken's dressing $3.99
Bowl of fruit
Bowl of pineapple
Yoplait yogurt
Sliced apples with caramel dip
Sliced carrots & celery with ranch dip
Smuckers PB&J
Orange
Banana
Microwave popcorn (Act II)
Muffin
Cookie
Chocolate covered Mickey Rice Krispie treat
Single serve chips; Lays, BBQ Lays, Doritos, Cheetos
Single serve Chip & Dale; nuts, pretzels, dried apple & cranberry fruit
Skittles, Crunch Bar, Twix
Poptarts (2) Strawberry or Cinnamon
Itzakadoozie
Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich
Mickey Ice Cream Bar
Frozen Fruit Bars

Obviously some are not breakfast foods but I thought I might as well list them all (and if I didn't feel I have to set a good example for our daughter I might have had a Dole Whip for breakfast! :rolleyes1 )

Besides muffins and cookies there were a variety of pastries that we didn't sample but that looked really good.

It was a total surprise. I did online checkin and when I got to the resort went up to the counter to get my info. The CM told me to wait there, he went in the back for about 10 minutes and gave me all my info. He told me we would love the view. He was right, it was amazing. As soon as we got in the room I walked back to the GCH and thanked him profusely.

I'm sooooo glad for these Disney resort forums, as it's comforting to know there are others out there just like me :cool1:

My trip is still over 150 days away, and here I am :)

One comment on the dining plan, to me, it's more than just saving, or not saving money, as the case may be. By nature, I'm a cheapskate, to a fault. I'd drink water at every meal, never have deserts, have the kids split their fries, etc... And I really don't even enjoy doing it. The dining plan is a god-send! My family can get whatever they want, we can get deserts, appetizers, the works. I know I may even loose money on it, but I don't care, I'm footloose and carefree at every meal...priceless!

I am the same way! The problems I see with the dining plan is I obsess over how many meals and snacks I have left. ("gotta use em all") then the changes they made last year. Deluxe dining used to include tips! If we eat at all table service restaraunts it ended up costing us $50 a meal! Plus the cost of DDP. Me I am always worried about "am I getting my moneys worth". Then the regular dining plan stopped paying for dessert or appetizer (you get one or the other). We decided with teens we will pay for our table service meals and purchase the quick service plan.

Talk about obsessed THATS ME!

28 more days and I will let you guys know how that worked out for us!:yay:

Stay at the Polynesian! With the ages of your kids, the monorail is priceless. Seriously. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice! That is what has sold me the most on Poly. That double stroller weighs more than I do!:goodvibes
Also, the size of the room is supposed to be larger. I will ask at check in for one of the bigger rooms if available. That would be great with 2 pak n plays!

Thanks for your advice!:flower3:

I could be wrong..:confused3 (Lord knows..it wouldn't be the first time..) but I don't think the regular dining plan includes the appetizer at all. Last I heard it included dessert. However, there wasn't the option of either/or, as far as appetizer or dessert.

We haven't used the dining plan since the change. We enjoyed the appetizers and having the gratuity included. It's lost it's convenience factor..which was a big plus as far as I was concerned.
We have AP's and have opted to use the Tables In Wonderland card, where you can get 20% off your table service meal.

Correct, no appetizer on the regular DDP, but appies ARE included in the DxDP. It's my biggest peeve with the DDP. Two desserts a day (as dessert is also included in the CS combos), but I can't get a soup or salad?! We will be using TIW this trip for the first time as well, as we much prefer appies to desserts, and always end up paying OOP for them anyway.

In the pics posted earlier, I'm seeing some "wading" going on at the beach. Is that allowed? I've already prepped my daughter that she's not allowed to touch the water at the beach.

I know there's no swimming....but just some toe dipping maybe???

Nope, you aren't supposed to get in the water at all. I won't let my kids touch the water at all.

My family also does the dining plan to avoid my obsessiveness.

Otherwise I would fret over every restaurant, and think was that really worth the money??? Costwise, we may even come out a bit behind this year, since DD11 will be an adult and eats like a bird.

But it's worth it to me because I don't want the stress, or having to second guess every dining decision.

One thing we do, however, is bring plenty of bottled water so we don't waste money or credits on it. But we're water drinkers!

YES!! I agree with you 100%:thumbsup2 If not for the dining plan I would be obsessed with the spending and analyzing every decision:headache: Many ppl see having to schedule ADRs as a major drawback but I think ...hey with 3 little kids it gives us a break from the running around to chill out a little:goodvibes Plus unless you are doing CRT or HDDR etc., no one HAS to go and eat...if you are having too much fun where you are stay there!! It's not like the ADR police will come after you:lmao:

I don't understand parents that let their kids go in that filthy water. There are signs that specifically say that swimming is not allowed.

I can just hear those parents now, "But they aren't swimming, just wading". I guess they just don't get it.

The water isn't any more filthy than any other small lake in Florida... All through the 70's and 80's swimming was allowed at the Poly.

It is just an insurance thing now.

Nope not an insurance thing. There is a bacteria in the water which they can't control.

Alot of lake water in florida has that bacteria.....it is just an urban myth that the water is toxic....

Well tell that to my cousin who has done testing for water quality in Florida. He has participated in testing the water at Disney for quite awhile.

so I don't take the greatest pictures haha but here they are

So what bacteria are we talking about? Do you know the story of what happened? I searched but couldn't find anything.

Yes, do tell. :scared: Mine have used the water to pack sand to make castles on the beach. No skin-eating diseases yet. ;)

Danyella,

LOVE your pictures! Your princesses are adorable! Hope you had (or are still having) fun! I have missed a couple days on the thread so I can't remember when/if you are back.

Was your room TPV?
