ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Oh, my... that is upsetting. That is almost enough to make me consider changing resorts...

Let me get this straight, just for my own edification:

Every day, from 12-6 at the Volcano Pool, there are kids games, featuring loud pop music. This runs constantly throughout those 6 hours?

I agree - that definately is not what I'm looking for at the Poly. :sad2:

Well, it sounds like it's happening at all resorts, and thus there may be no escape. Perhaps if we took a moment to drop TPTB a friendly note about it, expressing concern for the duration and volume level, they might take another look at the matter. :confused3

They do the same thing at SAB over at YC/BC as well. Hence our love for the "quiet pools" at Disney. . .:lmao: I'm not sure if it is a year around thing or not, but I know the SAB activities were going on when we visited last October for Food & Wine Festival.

I'm not going to change my resort. I don't know if I could ever allow myself to do such a thing. I would spend the whole week pining for the Polynesian. I'm just succumbing to the "My vacation isn't going to be perfect" paranoia, which I should really just ignore, because nothing is ever perfect, and the Polynesian is "home".

I just don't remember the "game time" well at all. I vaguely remember having to step around it one day to get to the bar :lmao: DW tells me that it was, in fact, going on while we were there last time (just not daily, and not for as long as mentioned) and we just ignored it and went on with our swimming and imbibing.

I figure, if I don't remember it, it didn't make much of an impression on me, and therefore isn't worth fretting over :)

It was annoying at the time, and no matter what he says we did get annoyed by it :rotfl:. But it is going on everywhere, as I've read here, so what can you do? :confused3

Yes...

12-1 Volcano pool party
1-1:30 Boogie Down Dance party
1:30-2:30 disney Triva
3:30-4:30 Bingo/Name that Singer/Mystery Beach Activity

5:00-6:00 Sand Castle Competition (only on Saturday)
5:30-7:30 Teen Activity Time (only on M W F)

So I guess on MWF it goes until 7:30 and on Saturday it goes until 6 but on the other days it goes from 12-4:30..

And I was told that ALL the resorts are doing similar programs.... you may want to call and check before changing any ressies

Well that just totally sucks. Our favorite memories of staying at the Poly were the calming music that you could hear around the resort and pool. I am totally bummed about that.

Who can I send an e-mail to about my complaint?

Thanks for the review and pics jkstewart1800! Our trip is still 3 months away, but everyone's reviews and pictures help make the wait more bearable!

You are welcome. We really did have a wonderful time. I am sure I am forgetting some stuff, but I figured I would write down what I remembered. We also did the Neverland club for my two boys, I have pictures of that too...

I just need more hours in the day to get all the post vaca stuff done! :rotfl:

My favorite is the fact that they STILL play the resort music AND the pop music at the same time, so if you are in the right place you can hear both!!!:lmao::scared1:

I just tried my best to ignore it and go at night or early morning...

MAJOR props to GuitarRob for taking up the torch for the Poly FAQ threat! It looks awesome! :thumbsup2 And thanks to BreezysMom for all her hard work.

Sorry I've been MIA. I know I owe my trip report to give my perspective of a Poly Girl who finally stayed at the Grand Floridian but life intervened in a huge way. I got laid off from my job in February (I saw it coming a mile away) but we still went on our trip to the GF and visited the Poly as planned in June. All of the posts in the Poly thread really kept me going when I was bummed out so I wanted to say thanks. :goodvibes

Yes, I'll be posting my trip report sometime this week and I'll try to scramble out photos from our stays at the Poly for the thread. And yes, I did get another job which I start on Monday.

We've missed you, MsStinkerBelle! :wave2: Looking forward to your TR. Totally excited for you that you found another job - congratulations!! :tigger:

OMG ! I just looked at your pictures and your room number! I walked by your room like 20 times a day! We were in 1532!!! I can't beleive we never ran into eachother!!!

When I saw your pics, I thought you looked familiar, I'm sure I saw you in Lounge. I asked my kids did they see your kids at the Neverland Club, they said no they didn't think so. I did have a nice lady who recognized my pic from the disboards come up to me in the lounge. I didn't even have a lime green mickey on.

We finished off our stay at the Poly with a bike rental and we tooled around the hotel taking everything in... it was fabulous and the Poly is fabulous, I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. We check out a couple other hotels on this trip... thinking maybe we should shake things up the next time we come.... but in our eyes... nothing is better than .... well... you know!!!

AWESOME PICS!! I just had a question about the bike rentals..we didn't get to do this last time at the Poly. All the research I did said that the bikes at the Poly only seat 4:confused3 Is this at the Poly? We are a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids 10-6-3) and I would LOVE to do this

Hi there..I've been wondering where you are::yes:: I've missed your HILARIOUS :joker:posts....glad you are back:goodvibes

about the activities at the pool, some will be off to the side unless they involve water and some will be on the beach (sandcastle contest)

They had activities at the CR last Dec when we were there and unless my kids participated (not often) we didn't even really notice them happening

Thanks for the pics logpey! I really enjoyed looking at them, sitting in bed next to hubby he isn't feeling well and is already asleep!lol
