ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Hmmm, I had also asked the club IPO this question, though it was answered much more quickly here.
I would say that is because you have alot of WDW lovers and the IPO's have to deal with a ton of people via email, telephone and in person. I have been pleased with the turn around time on my emails.

I just checked rates for a stay similar to that which we usually do (just a bit shorter than normal). A stay at CL GV from 6/3-6/10/11 $4,663. No tickets, just room. That translates to $610 p/n for weekends and $585 p/n weekdays. . .:scared1::eek: I'm not sure we will be returning next year.
Right? Unbelievable.

We paid about $4000, same time frame last year including everything I mentioned plus the basic dining plan and airfare!

I wish they would just give you the discount price at the time of booking. it is such a silly game. They want you to think that you are getting some kind of fantastic deal with the 40% code.

Honestly, the Poly is great, but not $500/night great.

I did a check of the same dates (rack rate) for 2010 and 2011, same room category, and the increase was over $110/night. And that's in "value" season. Wowsa!

Logpey - Welcome back! Please post some pics! Hope all goes well with your follow up tests - now eat some bananas

wow has the price ever gone up for next March.

Without any discounts, with the park hopper for 7 days and no dining plane, GV room: $5,024.38

That includes the insurance and is from March 5-13th.

I love love love the Poly, but without any discounts it is going to be the Beach club for me. same time, same package I am quoted about $1500 less.

Who would pay that much?:confused3

That is a HUGE difference for a GV room. I love the Poly but BC is really awesome and saving $1500 would be reason enough to stay at BC instead of the Poly. Wow. I am glad I booked the Poly with the discount for this September. Hopefully it won't be my last (but whosa on those rates) :scared1:

We are currently staying at the poly and will leave on wed. If anyone would like two umbrella strollers that we will not be taking back on the plane, just send me a message with your name. First come fs. I can leave them with bell service if you will be here this wed or thursday. We will be done with them by 3 on wed.

If no one responds what me and my family do is the last day in the park go to where you pick up park strollers and give them away there. Spreads a bit of pixie dust to a stranger when they realize they dont have to pay $14 a day for a disney stroller!:wizard:

What an awesome idea! :)

We leave for our WDW/DCL trip on Thursday! :cool1:

I noticed in a previous trip report a mention of ping pong by the pool. I don't remember seeing a ping pong table at the Poly before. Where is it located?

This will make DS *very* happy.

TIA!

Cyndi

Yes, it is to the right (when facing the MK) right by the beach. Played on it today.

I am back! Got in at 5am this morning - hubby wanted to drive all night !
Will post pictures and reviews tomorrow.... got to catch up on my sleep and catch up on the posts here...

Didn't see any other DISers though.... I look hard, but to no avail !

Thanks for the report. Glad you had a great time.

It sounds like you didn't like the food and had a few (minor) problems with your room, but say you'd stay club level again. What makes you say that? Just curious as we're currently scheduled for club level in December (garden view, like you were), but am considering just dropping down to regular garden view and going with deluxe dining plan. We'd still save about $450 overall and would be able to have daily breakfasts, probably the only meal we'd actually use the club level for.

Well I like knowing which location I would be in and being able to grab breakfast and go-- also drinks (sodas) and having an extra space for the hubby and kids to go while I was getting ready-- I would stay there again, I don't think I would ever pay full price for it, being that I didn't feel exclusive or any more special from being concierge level, My room was not ready and I wasn't driven to my room or even offered to be driven to my room. I also had to call valet to have bell services deliver my belongings. If I were you I would drop down to regular room and get the dining plan and request a grt room location. Don't get me wrong I loved the poly and will stay there eveytime just maybe not concierge, unless great deal.

Hope everything goes well at the Dr for you and thanks for your review. I am planning 3 resort Poly days and was hoping they had daily activities at the pool for my 2 girls.

Thank you, I will hear my second set of results tomorrow.;)

Funny you said that, when the doc called me last monday, he said for now drink OJ and plenty of bananas till I get back. thx I did!:thumbsup2

Forgot to mention, but there are cones in the parking lot blocking some places and behind cars parked in spaces. We had to move one that was behind our car. But they are so random we couldn't figure out what was up. Some spots had up to three cones and some none. So we asked. There is going to be some construction in the parking lot later this week but people keep moving the cones around. They didn't say what though. But that is not close to the pool. Just thought I would clarify:thumbsup2 right now the pool is fine. Oh I also saw a lifeguard gathering up towels from chairs that had no other belongs at them so people couldn't save them for later in the day if they weren't there. Not sure if this is normal.

Hey Logpey! I just learned and its easy..
Upload your pics to photobucket. Make sure your pics are not super large so after you upload if you NEED to you can click Edit and then up top it will say resize and then once you resize it click apply and save over original
Then on the left of the images you want to post there will be some URL addresses you need to copy and paste, its the one that starts and ends with

Ive read several reports that guests arent being driven by club car (yes I know golf cart) to the CL for check in.
How does this work do I drive up and tell them Im checking in Club Level and ask to be driven so I can check in the Hawaii LH instead of GCH?

Also does anyone know how much it is or how long it takes to have clothes pressed?

If anyone is having any trouble figuring it out, let me know and I can put together an illustrated tutorial.

Guitarob, correct me if I'm wrong here, but don't we just go up to the stand outside the GCH and tell them our names and that we're staying club level? What I mean is, we don't usually ask for anything special, and they say "okay, hang on, we'll get a cart over here for you as soon as one is available", and that's all I remember them doing. Am I remembering correctly?

That is how it worked when we stayed there!

Yup, that's how it was the times that we've stayed CL.

Sorry I didn't see you down there last week! I was always scanning the crowd but our paths must not have crossed. Our room was in Tokelau near Hawaii. Which end of Hawaii were you on? Were you there during that massive rain storm? I think it was Sunday late afternoon/early evening. The ducks were swimming down the path in front of our building. I'm betting the mud in front of your room was pretty bad then. We wanted first floor but got third. Were you on first?

Glad to hear your medical issues didn't interfere with your trip!!
