Not sure if the procedure has changed, but in Sept 2009 we simply pulled up to the security gate, and they gave us a yellow ticket that said "Club Level" on it. We then handed this to the Valet/Bell Services staff outside. We were not mailed anything in advance :confused3

One week to go. Everyone is going crazy counting down the days. Yesterday I had to play the Magic Kingdom game twice to get the kids to relax. Next Monday can't come fast enough for us.

Several ppl have stated they got emails with a letter to give the attendants but I noticed my mickey mail said CLUB on it so if I dont get anything I wont sweat it, plus I figured guard gate would know when they look at our name..

Posted a fab review...

Thanks for the review of your stay! :goodvibes

I've put in a request for Tokelau for our upcoming visit. I've not stayed at the Poly before but it seemed like the ideal longhouse for us from reading the descriptions of them on Tikiman's site. Keeping my fingers crossed the Pixie Dust Gods are in a good mood that day. ;)

Just about all coffee in WDW is instant except for the coffee stands and coffee in TS restaurants, the CL perks are the building, the turndown service, views, cordials, wines, beer and food. If coffee is going to be an issue I highly recommend bringing your own for your in room coffee pot (and filters) or buying some coffee grounds from Kona Island Coffee.

Now I'm confused. Everytime I've stayed at the Poly I thought they had coffee ground packet thingys for the coffee makers, not instant coffee. Can anyone refresh my memory please?

Hmmm, I had also asked the club IPO this question, though it was answered much more quickly here. Unfortunately, I got a different answer. The club IPO said that Kona sushi MUST be eaten in the restaurant and that reservations are strongly encouraged.

Does anyone know which answer is accurate? (I'm guessing the IPO would know, but just curious.)

Thats ridiculous, you can get just about anything in WDW to go! Also you cannot make ADR for the Kona Island Sushi its just a small bar area for goodness sake, IPO must be confused with KONA CAFE and even with that Im sure if you came in and ordered you could get it to go as long as they arent real busy (with no ADR)

You will have no problem with a member of your party walking over to Kona Island Sushi placing an order to go and bringing it back to the room!

I dont think that they can really "force" you to eat anywhere. If I sit down at Kona or any table service resturant and order my food and then want to leave, I can take it with me to go.What is Disney going to say no? :thumbsup2 I think not.

In May 2007 when I stayed at the Poly we went to Kona Cafe but I was so stuffed, I couldn't eat dessert at the time. I asked if I could come back later and get some cake to go and the server said yes. So later in the evening I did just that. The restaurant did not appear that busy but I was told that NO, I could not get anything to go. I asked the hostess, a server, and a manager. I was LIVID. So I've never asked again for anything 'to go' at a Disney table service restaurant. Not that I wouldn't try again, but I will not count on it.

That is my personal experience and perhaps I did not get the right people to ask - but I asked a few of them, not just one cast member.

I like Tokelau as well - good luck!

No I mean the coffee in the coffee machines..Not the coffee they leave in your room. Its my understanding that most coffee in WDW is Nescafe which is a type of instant coffee, to me its like coffee youd get in a gas station. Im ok with it tho.

Now I know for a fact we have taken food to go from TS places especially dessert! One other time it was my DD meal b/c she fell asleep, another time DS wasnt hungry and we ordered his to go and last yr at Le Cellier i had a miagraine and couldnt eat and got mine to go when my family finished eatting! Oh well, maybe things changed..

Maybe it is because you went back for it after the fact ???? I have taken leftovers which in reality is food to go.

They aren't talking about the Cafe though, they are talking about the sushi bar. I believe it is two different things.

ALOHA,

Im sooo sad I'm back from my 7 nights CL stay at the Polynesian, I see why everyone loves it. The laid back atmosphere is heavenly. Hammocks were always available, even know pretty crowded, but plenty of room in pool and around, I like it alittle crowded, makes it more fun. The Lapu, Lapu were ok, alittle strong for my liking, the pina colava was right up my alley. We played volleyball on beach, ping pong by pool, all whilst enjoying the view of Cinderellas Castle. My kids joined in the pool kid programs and my daughters team won their games so we enjoyed her winnings of a free 30 minute Sea Raycer, and rented an extra for ourselves and they ended up giving it to us for free as well, also while checking them out they asked how old my daughter was I said 13, are you over 5ft, she said yes, they said well if she wants she can drive, I was suprised because I thought you had to be over 15 to drive one. The pool games for kids are trivia, volleyball, arcade games, bingo, volleyball, stack the buckets with one hand, etc they loved this time everyday for different ages. Magical Express was nice and easy, I was in room within an hr after landing, Even though when I arrived they said it was not ready, I thought they were trying to hook me up with a lagoon view even though I booked a garden view Club level.( I requested if at all possible) But that didn't happen, so next time I will book lagoon view. My room was plenty spacious for the 4 of us. I ws alittle upset at the mud puddle literally outside my patio door, when it rained some of the afternoons the ducks and birds would flock to it to play and enjoy, that was cute to watch, but just suprised the CL garden view at the Poly would have such a large patch of grass missing right outside my door, but I didnt let this bring me down or even mention it to anyone. They had happy bday pins for both my children that was nice. Club level was nice and accessible. The location of Hawaii building was nice and centrally located. Capt cooks was good, Ohana was wonderful, but we actually liked the food in Kona Cafe better than anything lunch and dinner were excellant. The club lounge food was ok, nothing to write home about, They pretty much gave out beers whenever you wanted one, we would just walk by and they would offer one to hubby, not a big selection in drinks or food, I would definitely stay concierge again, the quality and selection need to be more and breakfast should be rotated with more warm foods. We loved the cast members and the closeness of the poly to Magic Kingdom and TTC for Epcot. The grounds were beautiful and alot of landscaping and painting going on, they tried to do early morning and late late at night rather early morning like 3:40 am after EMH at magic kingdom one morn, landscaping around pool being done, also I literally saw them pull a palm tree out of the ground and move it. Crazy--in no way whatsoever did it ruin my experience at the poly, it just shows that their constantly striving to make it better for us. I'm possibly planning a quick trip maybe christmas time just to see the lights with hubby and kids for like a worldwind trip. If anyone has any questions I will do my best to answer them, I took a ton of pics from all around the resort to show everyone just give me alittle time to get it all together, I have another doctors appt, The doc put me on a beta blocker before I left, My Potassium came back real low and he wants a recheck, thats what was causing all my symtoms of chest pain and dizzy. Also my carbon dioxide was low and liver up and glucose, But like I said in previous posts I wasn't going to let anything stop me from WDW and my POLY stay. Have a great day and I will work on pics when I get back from Doc.....

I really dont understand why it would be a big deal to take any food out of a TS restaurant to go if you have an ADR..

As far as Kona Sushi Bar I have a feeling they wont mind at all, will leave more room at the bar for more customers..IMHO..Of course Ive been known to be wrong..

Welcome back Logpey cant wait to see your pics.. What did you eat at Capt Cooks we will be eatting lunch and dinner here during our trip next month so Im dying to see pics! LOL

Thanks for the report. Glad you had a great time.

It sounds like you didn't like the food and had a few (minor) problems with your room, but say you'd stay club level again. What makes you say that? Just curious as we're currently scheduled for club level in December (garden view, like you were), but am considering just dropping down to regular garden view and going with deluxe dining plan. We'd still save about $450 overall and would be able to have daily breakfasts, probably the only meal we'd actually use the club level for.

So we got home Friday night from our first ever stay at the Poly. (8th trip to WDW). We had to go to a wedding on Saturday so this is the first chance I had to post anything.

We had a great time and really loved the Poly. Our previous trips we had stayed at All Star Sports and POR.

Our room was in Tokelau which is what we requested, so that was great! After seeing the resort, we would definitely request this building again. We loved the central location.

The grounds are beautiful and I loved sitting in the lobby with my paper and coffee in the morning when it was quiet and soaking in the atmosphere. I would have liked to sit on the beach, but it was soooooo hot that I wanted to be in the AC even in the AM so I wasn't already too hot before we got to the parks.

Our favorite thing was being able to wander down to the beach at 9:58 and catch the fireworks. We just stood, because, of course, there were no chairs at that time. But we found the bugs to be so annoying that we didn't want to be out there any longer than that. We watched them 3 times. It was sooo nice to be able to just wander back to the room without fighting any crowds and be there by 10:15.

Taking the monorail was fabulous!! I loved walking into the lobby at night and taking a deep breath, smelling the wonder smell, and sighing, "We're home." Just so relaxing and peaceful. Not the atmosphere you find at the other resorts we stayed at.

There were 2 things we didn't like about the Poly. First, the bathroom setup didn't work too well for us. With 2 teenagers, having the sinks inside the bathroom meant someone had to get up 2 hours before we wanted to leave (me of course!) so we could all be ready in time. It just didn't work too well with basically 4 adults.

We also didn't like the food court. It was chaotic unless you were there at a really off time. We had breakfast there on our day off (the Tonga toast was out of this world!) but never got to eat there again because it was just too crazy. We don't do a lot of ADRs and so we usually hit the food court once or twice for lunch or dinner on our trips. Also, there are only 2 coffee stations and 1 was out of order for 2-3 days. That caused some big lines for coffee in the AM.

The rest of the trip was great, too! We hit all the parks at rope drop and had a plan. I think that was really necessary with the extreme heat and crowds. By 1 or 2 we just couldn't take it any more and had to go back "home." We went back to the parks most nights. It was still hot, but at least the sun wasn't beating on you. We didn't wait any longer that maybe 20 minutes for anything, but again, we are very experienced at park touring.

Highlight of the trip was getting to be Epcot family of the day on Monday!!! :dance3: It was awesome! We opened the park, and then got to be the first to ride Test Track. Then they walked us over to Mission Space where we got to see the control room and go to the front of the line to ride that. We also got 2 passes that were basically fastpasses for all 4 of us for any rides we wanted. Throughout the day several CMs said to us, "Hey, aren't you the family of the day?" So fun!! It was a magical day!!

Since this is the Poly thread afterall, I will end with saying that we would definitely stay at the Poly again if the price was right. Can't say that I think it's worth paying full price...but like everything at Disney, it's a very magical place! :wizard:

wow has the price ever gone up for next March.

Without any discounts, with the park hopper for 7 days and no dining plane, GV room: $5,024.38

That includes the insurance and is from March 5-13th.

I love love love the Poly, but without any discounts it is going to be the Beach club for me. same time, same package I am quoted about $1500 less.

Who would pay that much?:confused3

I just checked rates for a stay similar to that which we usually do (just a bit shorter than normal). A stay at CL GV from 6/3-6/10/11 $4,663. No tickets, just room. That translates to $610 p/n for weekends and $585 p/n weekdays. . .:scared1::eek: I'm not sure we will be returning next year.

Hope everything goes well at the Dr for you and thanks for your review. I am planning 3 resort Poly days and was hoping they had daily activities at the pool for my 2 girls.

We leave for our WDW/DCL trip on Thursday! :cool1:

I noticed in a previous trip report a mention of ping pong by the pool. I don't remember seeing a ping pong table at the Poly before. Where is it located?

This will make DS *very* happy.

TIA!

Cyndi
