ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Shoot. For the best babysitter on our list, I pay $10 per hour! We have three kids and I want them to be treasured, entertained, and fed, and clean when I come home. Neverland Club sounds like a super bargain!
Don't forget the price per hour is also per child so it would be >$33 an hour for 3 kids.

Only 25 days left for me! Checking this thread daily for pictures and reviews. I'm getting to darn excited! :lmao:

I really hate to break this to you Carl, but ours are 20 and 22 and we have a very tough time ditching them to get some Mom and Dad time to sip in peace and quiet. We finally had to be blunt and simply tell them that we were going this way and they were going the other. We would meet them in a few hours! :lmao: EPCOT is OUR park and they can find their own things to do while we slowly meander and enjoy our adult only company.

Of course now our problem is solved since Ron a/k/a Mean Daddy has decided he is done paying for their vacationing. ;)

:rotfl:

Tinkerbellie16- I'm so glad you posted all the wonderful info on the neverland club. We are going in June and my husband and I want to escape for an evening and since we are staying at the Poly it seems so convienent to drop them off and then go over to EPCOT. My kids are both 7 so they should do fine on their own. So if they do dinner there and you are on the dining plan, does that get deducted from your dining plan or is that figured into the cost they charge. Seems like a great price for an evening out. Also how far in advance did you have to make reservations? Can you just call that day or do you have to know ahead of time?

I'm jealous!! We have like 123 days left..:cool1:

You know how they say that when your feeling down about a problem someone else has it a little worse? Look at my ticker! ;)

I am so WDW and Poly obsessed my DD was complaining to DH, I cant take 7 more months of mom talking about it! LOL

I just stuck my tongue out at them both! My whole family loves WDW but wont start in on the obsessive planning until about 2 month before..

I hope they still have that Wishes pre-show in Sept although we have gotten spoiled just watching Wishes from the Poly..

So here are some more details-
The pricing was about $11.50 per hour per child. You can put them in for as many or little hours as you want while they are open. We had the kids there for 5 hours while we went to Epcot. They give you a pager or just take down your cell phone number (they never called us). It does include a meal (they get a kids meal from Captain Cooks). You drop them off and speak to the folks working there (all SUPER nice!). The kids go through Wendy's bedroom window and they are off! If someone tried to come in to even look at the kids, they wouldn't be able to see them (made me feel better).

My kids are standing here and giving me the low down :) They said they never left the club (even to eat) but there was an additional room where they ate the dinner that was brought in. My son loved the electronics - video games and big screen movie. My daughter also liked the coloring stuff. There is also dress up and there were big jumbo cup stacks (sorry, I'm writing this verbatim as they tell me) and they built towers out of the cups so high that they would surround someone and they would knock it over (they are jumping up and down with excitement right now so it must have been fun). They also hung out with other kids.

They immediately wanted to go back the next night and they are giving me the 'please, please, please' can we go back right now :rotfl: We are heading to WL in May and will try out the Den's club.

I highly recommend doing this. Yes, it was pricey but it ended up being worth it for the adult evening out and the kids LOVED it.

Thank you for the extra info! I am glad that they still climb through Wendy's window! I remember doing it when I was a kid, and it is a great memory.

I am pretty sure we are going to do this one night so we can have a grown-up night at EPCOT :)

I was in such a great mood this morning working on packing, etc and now dh called and is coming home from work with the "flu". :sad1: And as usual he gave both girls hugs and kisses before work. :scared1:

I am trying to keep positive and picture us all healthy at the beach watching wishes!

UGH! :headache: Here's hoping they can make it through unscathed and everyone who does get it is recovered in time for vacation! :grouphug:

242 days until I'm back at the Polynesian - Club Level! For our 5th F&W festival and my BFF's Disney Fairytale Wedding! :goodvibes

I just checked and we have 232 days! :scared1: Although, after this month I'm sure I'll be plenty busy until September comes.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Poly!

In Hawaii, first floor, garden view. Second-to-last room on end opposite of Concierge Lounge. Maybe closer would have been more convenient, but it wasn't a long walk down the hall and it was totally silent at our end of the hall. Beautiful tree outside our room. Kids (2 and 5 years old) played outside while we were getting ready or doing stuff in the room (had door open so we could see them always).

No bedbugs, one spot with torn wallpaper (down low; wouldn't have noticed without 5-year-old pointing it out), excellent mousekeeping all week.

Only one towel animal and it was defective! I think it was intended to be mickey but only had one ear (one big circle and one little circle). Maybe it was an "8." I'm not obsessed with towel animals though, so I didn't care that we weren't getting them.

Personalized birthday card from Mickey Mouse was in our room on our son's birthday.

Lounge was great--good food, good service, fun for the kids. And that rum drink! Yum!

We had decided to buy DVC (BLT), but after this trip, we changed our minds! We'd rather stay at Poly.

Thanks to all who have posted here for the information that helped make our trip magical!

The dinner that is served is included in the price of the Neverland club. So it does not deduct anything from your dining plan. I do not know when they 'cut off' dinner or if you must be in the club at a certain time so if you are going later, like 7 or so, make sure to ask them if the kids will get fed. They also get an evening snack like a cookie, crackers, or juice. My kids aren't next to me so I can't ask them what the snack was!

You can make the reservations in advance but I'm not sure how far in advance. We were there in September and I'm not sure if it was just a slow time of year or they don't book up but we just asked them an hour prior and we were able to sign both kids up. If you do know what night out you are choosing, I'd make reservations in advance just in case. They do have a 24 hour cancelation policy so you can cancel up to the day before if you need to. I'm going to make advance reservations this time around for my kids because I don't want to worry that it might be full.

I definitely enjoyed having the grown up night in Epcot!

To those that have remarked on the price just to clarify -
It is $11.50 (or so) PER hour PER child. So for two children for two hours, it would be $46. They did prorate it per the half hour for us so we ended up paying for like 4 1/2 hours rather than 5 which was nice. So yes, we ended up spending over $100 for this service on the night we used it.
This is WAY more than we pay our babysitter at home so we were hesitant to spend the money. But it was worth every penny. Definitely save up the money to do this if you are considering staying at the Poly or will be in the Poly area so the adults AND the kids can have some time to themselves. Our kids were ready to get rid of US! And when we all came back together, we enjoyed our time together much more after having our break :thumbsup2

Woohoo, room 1520! We checked out of there on 1/19. :thumbsup2 My kids thought that tree was the best climbing tree on earth. We never let them try (or go near it), but they fantasized about doing it every day of our trip.

Welcome back and glad to hear you had a great stay. I love the east end of the building because it is quiet and there is easy access to the end door after returning from the bus or EPCOT.

BTW, the punch is not rum (if the fruity concoction in the lounge is what you're talking about) -- it is made with wines and fruit juice. :woohoo: I think the recipe is linked in one of the first few pages of the thread.

We just got back last night. We had a great, exhausting time!

I saw some questions about the Wishes pre-show. I believe it started 15 minutes before Wishes. Let the Memories Begin, and I thought it was amazing! We watched it from the hub one night, and again another night from the Wishes Dessert Party. I thought it was hard to see the pictures they used, but I didn't care about that. Again, amazing, and really worth seeing in the park. We just did some shopping after Wishes, give the crowds some time to clear out.

I did the online check-in. I had requested Tokelau, ground floor. We got to the resort around 11 am Saturday 1/22 and our room was 3rd floor, Tuvalu. I asked if there was anything available on the other side of the resort, and was told there were some rehabs going on over there and he had been moving people around all morning. I think I was being fed a line and he just didn't want to move me... I was disappointed, but at least I didn't get 2nd floor with no balcony! After I was done being a baby about it when we got in the room, I was happy to be at the Poly again. However, later in the week I really missed Tokelau, and being closer to TTC and the bus stop. I think I'll try a little harder to be moved next time. The last 3 years I had no problems requesting Tokelau on my ressie and getting it.

You know Im not even gonna count days..It will depress me..LOL makes it seem even longer..Nope not gonna do it!

lol I don't want to count days either. I almost went to home depot to get some mickey head paint chips to make a countdown calendar. When I started adding up how many I needed I got disappointed, turned away from home depot and went home. lol maybe in another few months I'll try it again:rotfl:

this is what I'm thinking too! Envisioning a night at the food and wine festival without the kids is much more enjoyable! I cannot wait for this!
