ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Today I read on another website that there are two Poly concierge lounges; one in the Hawaii building and the other in the Great Ceremonial House. However, I thought there was only one. Can someone please confirm this info for me?
Thanks!

Technically there is two lounges, one is in Hawaii building which is the main lounge for most all club level rooms. There is another lounge in the tonga building next to GCH. That one is for club level suite guests only.

Breakfast in the lounge starts at 7, however they sometimes get the fruit out before then. they are there setting it up around 6 and coffee is available 24hrs a day. if you are lucky there are things available but dont count on it.

you can have your cake delivered to the club level desk but they do not have access to the fridge. the staff for the lounge is not always there but the desk personell are, until I believe 11p.

Depending on how many people in your party, the third floor lounge area is quiet. if you have lots of people I would suggest not scheduling your cake party during the normal operating time for food and do it in the second floor lounge.

Unfortunately we're not coffee drinkers, so the 24 hr service won't help us (though my Dsis & her DH will appreciate that ... although if it's Nescrape, maybe not so much! :rotfl2:) I guess we'll just have to plan ahead for those extra early mornings.

Not sure what to do about the cake though. I had hoped (though wasn't counting on it) that the kitchen at the lounge might be able to receive a cake delivery like the kitchens at the restaurants. Hmmm, at least I have several months to come up with plan B.

Hello Poly lovers! You have a fabulous thread here:goodvibes

We leave in just over a month for our next Disney trip. We were booked a few nights at a Value (we'll be spending those days at Universal) and then moving over to POR for a week.
Well guess who got the 40% off code in the mail yesterday?:cool1::cool1:

Sappy story ahead..
I used to visit my grandparents in Florida every winter as a little girl and I distinctly remember seeing the Poly from the monorail and thinking how much I would love to stay there! It's my earliest Disney memory. Dh has heard this story every time we go to Ohana.:rotfl2:
Well the code covered our dates exactly and I called last night and changed our reservation. I am so excited!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure I will have a few questions, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello:)

Congratulations! its amazing how things work out! Pixie dust abounds!pixiedust:
I remember our first trip to Disney, we were on the magical express headed to wilderness lodge. There was a woman on the bus with us headed to the "Poly" as she put it. She was on her cell and as we drove up to the "Poly" she said "im here" and got off the bus... I was soo jealous. We had a good time at WL but from that "im here" on, I wanted to stay at the Poly. The next year we stayed at the Poly.. We are hooked. staying anywhere else is just not the same for us.

Anyway, welcome to the Poly community:grouphug:

Aloha Poly friends!!!

I'm wondering if you can answer a question for me!

Is there a difference in the MK view from Tahiti to Hawaii?!

We (myself, DD, my sister and 2 nieces) will be checking in to Poly next month and I have 2 MK view rooms booked! DH and I stayed in MK view in Tahiti in 09 and it was a fabulous view! I'm wondering if the view from Hawaii is at all better! This trip is for DD's 10th b-day (it's a surprise) and I know waking up and looking at the castle every morning is going to make her absolutely over the moon excited!

I know Hawaii is club level but I'm willing to switch and pay the extra $$ if the view from Hawaii is better!

TIA!!!! I can't wait for another trip to Poly!!

Aloha friends,
We will be staying at the Poly this May. It is our first trip to WDW and we will be traveling with our 2 DS. Our little guy will turn one while in WDW! WE are so super excited for this trip.
One question:
Any recommendations on which longhouse to stay in with 2 small guys?

Thank you!

The views are excellent from both, but I prefer Hawaii for proximity to pools, GCH, boat launch, etc. If the upgrade cost is not an issue, I would upgrade and be assured my TPV in Hawaii rather than roll the dice and be disappointed if I didn't receive Tahiti. Don't get me wrong, Tuvalu is also a good view, but if you have your heart set on Tahiti, it could be a disappointment for whatever reason. Booking CL TPV assures you Hawaii. :thumbsup2

Yay! So excited for you and your family! I can't say enough good things about Samoa - great location right near the volcano pool, GCH, monorail to MK, the coffee for my refillable mug. We enjoyed the walk to TTC to catch the monorail direct to Epcot. So many locations at the Poly look great, but we really enjoyed Samoa - photos of our room and view are a page or so back on this thread. Happy Planning! :wizard:

When we were there in March 2009, we were put in Raratonga and had a great view of the monorail. Our twin boys got the biggest kick out of watching the monorail go by when we were in the room.

Since there is no guarantee of staying in the Tahiti Longhouse even if you request it because it's nothing more then a request, I would go ahead and switch to Club Level because at least you know your room will be located in the Hawaii Longhouse. Plus over there you are a lot closer to the GCH and the volcano pool.

If we planned to head to parks early and come back to the hotel around 1pm, how busy can we expect the Volcano pool to be at that time?

I would love to see some pics from the three different longhouses with Theme Park Views. If money was no object, which building has the best theme park view? I believe the TPV are in Tuvalu, Tahiti and Hawaii. I know about a lot of their differences, but am really interested in the views. Also any comments on which floor the pics are from? This is probably a once in a lifetime splurge - we have stayed at Poly before but only GV. Thanks so much.

I have way too many to post. :cool1:

But Hawaii is the club level building isn't it? If I was reading the other poster she has a TPV not a club level. I have the same level booked and am curious as well which longhouse has the best view of the castle and MK, if the lower floors have less of a view than 3rd floor, etc, etc

Thanks!

I do not have any picures for you and I'm sure that someone on here does. I have stayed in both Hawaii and Tahiti. I was in Tahiti before they added the TPV category, we had a lagoon view room. We were on the first floor and the view was great! The room was great, the location was great, we enjoyed the first floor patio so we could walk out to beach. The only drawback was the walk to Capt. Cook's to refill our mugs.
In Hawaii we stayed first floor again lagoon view before there was a 3rd cat. last February. View was just as good, the location was perfect for everything. It was nice to be able to grab a snack or coffee before heading out. The walk to TTC is a little longer but still an easy walk through through very nice scenery. I actually preferred the room in Tahiti but you can't beat CL. We are heading back in 2 weeks and only considered CL.
I hope this helps.

Tuvalu and Tahiti are your options for TPV non club level and it all depends on what room you are assigned as far as third second or first floor. The vegetation at the Poly is big and bushy so your room could have a tree kind of blocking your view or you could have a room right in between two trees. Luck of the draw. If we did not stay CL I would pick Tuvalu. It is right on the water and I have teens so walking is not a problem (you have to walk around the lagoon to get to pool and GCH). Really if you look at the map or the SAT immage on page one you can see the advantages and disadvantages of each longhouse. Tahiti is kind of secluded, it is close to the TTC and it feels as if it has its own beach. but the GCH and pool is a walk away. There is even a garden room in club level that has the entire patio covered with trees and vegetation. In my opinion if we are staying at the Poly the pros far outweigh the cons, and stressing over what room you might get just adds stress. :rotfl2:
