We received our contract in the mail today! :cool1: So excited! I visited with a DVC guide a couple weeks ago during the marathon weekend but DH wasn't with me. I have been researching this for over 4 years now and have stayed in 4 of the DVCs. Yes, this is for us and we are almost in!

My guide was wonderful and spent two hours answering all of my indepth, detailed questions. I came home, crunched numbers and told DH, this was the way to go. Visited our credit union and then called the guide back.

Now I can't wait for tomorrow to call and get instructions for signing the contract. DH has been very busy at work the past couple of weeks, but told me he has time on his schedule in the afternoon for me to schedule a timeslot on his calendar for us to call. :lmao: I just hope we can get it all done before the last FedEx pickup.

The packet included the contract, member cards and Club IDs along with instructions for logging into the DVC web site. BUT.....we don't get our activation codes until the contract closes. :scared1: So close! Wonder how long it will take. Not too long I hope. I can't wait to get on the new on-line program to begin scheduling trips.

Anyone know if we can use our Disney Visas to pay for it to speed things along? :goodvibes

Paperwork is all signed and in the mail. First reservation is made for April at SSR. We are very excited to be apart of our new family. I kind feel like I have been let into a special club.

Not to be a bubbleburster, but it's a timeshare. A very expensive timeshare. Did you look at resales before you signed on the dotted line? You could save a lot of money.

They call it the "Vacation Club" to make it seem more inviting. It really is a money eater in the end.

Congratulations! I just loved signing our contract. Just liked the fact they marked the "sign here" spots with little mickey heads... :hippie:

I hope you already made your first reservation. That is a major advantage to buying direct, you can make the reservation the in the same call as agreeing to buy.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!:cheer2:

we have owned since early 1999, 3 contracts, and DVC was one of the best things we have ever done. it was a great financial decision, saving us thousands over even the CM pricing at resorts.
and of course, the time we have spent with our family, being able to go away even when money was a bit tight .(using discounted APs over 2-3 trips, no additional room charge, using SWA low fares) has been priceless.

if you love your DVC just a small fraction of as we do ours, you will have many, many years of magical moments and wonderful memories ahead of you:cloud9:

We have never regretted our buy in for a second. So much so we actually enjoy paying our yearly dues... Another advantage, since you eventually lose your points if you don't use them, it almost forces you to take a vacation at least every two years. Last trip we so lucked out with our room. It was a lake view but overlooked the tennis courts (BLT). Was able to watch wishes every night from the balcony. We could hear the people cheering from the MK. Was awesome!!! Where did you buy in at?

Welcome home, we have never regretted our membership. It gives me a happy feeling every time I think about it.

Thanks for such a warm welcome!

We bought into SSR, which was the one I was looking at through resale. We wanted the advantage of currently no restrictions, (yes, I realize that everyone has their own opinions on that) and once I was ready, I was ready and didn't want to wait. :thumbsup2

I realize this is "just a timeshare", but it is Disney and so much more. DH finally realized that this is my happy place and just give it up. I did lots of research and number crunching, it just made good financial sense. And now, he is just has happy as I am. It's funny when he "casually" asks me questions about it. Before it was just "tell me when to ask for leave and how many days to pack for". Now, he is taking an interest. Bonus! The kids are super excited also. We have stayed at different DVCs by renting points, so we knew we would be happy with the accomodations.

We do have our first reservation. DD's dance school is going in April for a workshop and to dance at DTD. I had been holding off making a reservation as I was having a hard time paying $1200 for a week at a Value. Now we have a week at SSR and in May DD and I will be going for our annual long weekend and stay at OKW. DD's reaction to that. "you mean we won't have to take the refrigerator with us anymore?!" :rotfl:

and yes, I do feel like I am a part of a special group of people, people who love Disney just as much as I do. :goodvibes

Welcome Home! Is SSR where you want to stay in April on your 1st DVC trip or is there another resort you would like to try since you will have the 11 month booking window at SSR? The reason I ask is when we bought direct BLT a few years ago my guide said he would assist me in my 1st ressie. The resort was not available but after calling him and taking him up on his offer the room WAS available. Just a perk to take advantage of if buying direct the sales staff can get rooms to make a sale but only on you r 1st reservation! I did not know if you were aware and it would be a great time to try a different resort. Enjoy

I called MS to make the first ressi and she said SSR was the only thing available. I did read in all the info provided that they would help make the first reservation and use from the regular rooms if necessary to get what you wanted if possible. So perhaps it wasn't MS I should have called? We really wanted BW. Hmmmm.... should I call my guide?

Yes, call your guide and see if he/she can get you into BW. I hear that is one of the perks of buying direct. Congrats and WELCOME HOME!!!

If it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist. The guide might have a pull for villas that are still in builder's inventory instead of member inventory, but not so much for older, sold-out resorts.

They can pull from the cash inventory, no?
