Well I was hoping to be able to post that I was a member tonight, but my rep left the office before I was able to call her back.... I mean who isn't in the office till Mindnight.... j/k Me and DW were very sad nontheless. We have been looking since 2001 and finally broke down and decided to jump in head first.

We are going to get 275 points(just to start out of course) bright and early Monday morning. But actually having to wait may turn out to an advantage since I have a question to pose to the experts.

I was told they have BWV and maybe some BCV available in addition to SSR. So my question is how far out can I reserve at each resort on say a 270 point stay assuming that I get 150 SSR and 125 BWV. Would I be limited to 7 since I do not have enough at a single resort to cover the reservation or since I own both do I get 11 out for either?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone on the boards.

Welcome to the Dis-Boards Tom. Let me be the first to say, did you ever give your party from Saturn a ring?

You get 11 months out for each of the resorts you own at for the number of points you own at the resort. If you have 150 at SSR you can use those points to reserve at SSR 11 months in advance. If you own 125 at the BWV, you can use them at the BWV 11 months in advance. At 7 months you would have 275 points to use wherever you want.

Good luck with your plan. Are you sure your Guide won't be in tomorrow?

Just wanted to add that if you split your contracts as you describe, you may still be able to get the points you need every-other-trip via banking and borrowing.

For instance, with the 150 / 125 contracts you describe, you could do the following:

2005 stay: Use BCV points from 2005 and borrow BCV points from 2006, giving you 250 total points to reserve BCV at 11-month window.

2006 stay: Use 150 SSR points which were banked from 2005, and 150 SSR points from 2006 giving you 300 total points to book SSR at 11 months or another resort at 7 mos.

You can juggle the contract sizes to suit your needs, although at least one of the contracts will have to be 150 points or more.

Good luck!

I have to say that is a brilliant plan. I like the way you think.

We are still pondering the split of points. My main concern with splitting the points to BWV is that those would expire 12 years before SSR.

So many things to consider. I just hope I don't end up talking myself out of buying before Monday gets around. Probably not since after reading the post about buying points and an addon to get the free AP's makes my decision to buy straight from Disney an even better deal then a resale than I first figured.

But that isn't for another 38 years. Who knows what will happen by that time. At best there will be some sort of extension. At worst you will still have SSR for another 12 years to enjoy.

I agree. Don't worry what is going to happen 38 years from now. You have waited long enough. Just go for it! You will soon be saying what the rest of us have been saying for years... "It is the best decision I have ever made" and "I wish I joined sooner."

Did you ask about the points at other resorts? We did the tour on Thursday (9/9...our 26th anniversary!) and were only offered SSR. We would prefer OKW or BWV if possible and would really like to have more than 150 points which would be feasible with OKW

Where was this post? That sounds like a great deal and we are close enough to drive down and get the value from an AP.

To answer some of the questions in the last couple of posts:

DVC's price for points at any of the resorts OTHER than SSR is a flat $89 per point. No incentives. No discounts. Financially, you're better off taking the $85 deal at SSR, which includes the contract that is 11-12 years longer.

Of course, the dues at OKW are lower, so you would probably make up the difference over time. Your call.

Regarding resort availability, OKW is typically the easiest resort to book due to its size. No matter which resort you own, you'll have no problem booking OKW 99.9% of the time.

BWV is also large (and adding another +/- 20 rooms in the near future). In my somewhat limited experiences, I've found it fairly easy to book if you plan ahead.

However, BWV has three classes of rooms: Standard View (which require fewer points), Boardwalk View and Preferred View. The Standard and Boardwalk views can be very difficult to get if you do not own points at BWV. Those are often the first rooms to be booked, leaving non-owners with the 'Preferred view.'

BWV will also cost you $89 per point for 38 years, and it has the highest dues of all the properties at WDW.

Quite frankly, at that price, if you want to purchase one of the sold out resorts, you're much better going the resale route. But note some of the hang-ups I mentioned in your other post.

My personal opinion is that if your preferred resorts are OKW, BWV and SSR, I would jump on the current offers for points at SSR. As I said, you'll never have problems booking SSR or OKW. It sounds like you eventually want to have more than 150 points, therefore you could focus on BWV for future add-ons. DVC will let you add-on points in increments as low as 25 pts.

Regarding the Annual Passes, this is a promotion DVC is currently offering for CURRENT members only, who add-on at least 130 points at Saratoga Springs. What Tom Morrow was likely proposing was to buy 150 points at BCV or BWV, and then immediately add-on 130 more at SSR. That should be 'legal' by DVC's guidelines, and get him the points he wants plus a couple of APs. Note that the promotion is for two free adult APs, each of which are good for one year only.

We are hoping the same thing on the APs. I don't see why it should be a problem. I am really thinking this time I will get the 150 and 125 all at SSR so that I can get the developer points(we are traveling in Jan and need the points more than the discount(seems like the same deal either way) I may look at getting a 150-200 addon at another resort later on. This is horrible, I haven't "officially" purchased and I am already planning addons.

Thanks, I found the post about the AP's while I was browsing after sending the reply.

I don't think it's horrible to already be planning for add-on's...that's what we're doing. If we had the money to commit to the payments for more points now, we would do that first, but since we don't, we'll get what we can and do add-on's as we can.

With the $10/point incentive, we may opt for 200 to start and save for the higher monthly payment since it won't start til next May. We have one day left on our park hopper from this trip and if we decide to go back this fall, we'll just save for the hotel room.

Tom Morrow:

Here's the one problem you may run into. All NEW sales at SSR are points in buildings that do not open until March '05. The closing on such a contract wouldn't happen until February ('cause you can't close on a building that isn't ready to be occupied.)

So, I'm not entirely sure if DVC will be able to sell you an "add-on" when you won't technically be an owner for 6 months.

If it were me, here is what I would try to pull off. Call your Guide and tell them you want 150 pts at BCV or BWV with a DECEMBER Use Year. If you get a Dec UY, you will get 2003 points now, with another 150 coming on 12/1/04. If they can get you the points, insist on banking all 150 immediately. We're past the banking deadlines for a December UY, and there is near zero availability between now and the end of the year--particularly with the Vero Beach resort closing temporarily. Make the point banking a condition of the sale.

If all of this falls into place, then tell your Guide you also want 130 at SSR with the free APs. The SSR points should also be December, and again ask that they be banked.

IMO, that would be one heck of a deal. You'll only pay 2 or 3 months worth of proprated dues on the 2003 points and you'll get everything else you are looking for.
