Waiting for ok from disney on contract. I have 150 pts that have to be used by August 1, 02. Problem is trying to book something in July with only 2 months notice. Can this be done. Also I need to book flights before they go any higher. My HOME will be BWV if accepted. Can I call and get on a list now before I get a contract #, so I don't lose any more time. Help! anybody
thanks paults

It's hard to predict availability, but several posters here have said that they have had success booking short notice trips. My best guess is that you will be able to find some way to use those points. You may not get into your home resort, but VWL and OKW and BCV are wonderful resorts, too. and maybe one of them will be available when you are finally able to make a ressie. Don't forget VB or HHI if those appeal to you.

If you cannot use your points at a DVC resort, consider using them at one of the non-DVC resorts. Even though many of us do not consider using points at non-DVC resorts to be the best value, you do have a deadline to use or lose. Perhaps there is a special WDW resort you always wanted to try? Maybe one that isn't even at WDW? The World Passport Collection has some tempting options! This could be your opportunity! Keep in mind that you would have to book your stay prior to May 31 because you cannot book a non-DVC option during the last 60 days of your use year. (You can STAY in a non-DVC resort within the last 60 days if you make the reservation PRIOR to the last 60 days of your use year).

Since you will not be able to make any reservations until after you have closed on your resale and the contract has been put into the system, you may want to consider asking for an expedited closing. There may be a charge for this and I'm sure your broker/sales agent can give you the details.

In summary (sorry this was so long), IMHO, you will find a way to use those points and I'm sure you will enjoy the trip no matter where you end up.

Looking forward to welcoming you home very soon!

thanks CarolMN. If I book with a non-dvc resort like PO, do I have to pay for extra people over the first 2. There will 4 of us, or is it standard that your room is for 4 people. thanks again, anybody

We are wanting to book a 3 day trip on the way back from Fl to see my dh's parents in Aug and then Thanksgiving so I know how you feel about the wait. The whole process has taken a lot longer than I thought (we signed our initial contract Feb 11). I think the biggest delay is because the main employee at the closing company was on vacation. Our broker has been great. We sent closing papers a week and a half ago and are still waiting to be able to make ressies. We know that if all else fails we could book a hotel but would love to try a DVC propery for our first stay. Good luck.

The points are per room.... so 4 people in the room is fine!

We booked our first trip on DVC points (coming this May) at the Beach Club and the Poly. We got a deal on banked points and figured out how to blow them!!

I wouldnt worry about finding a place.... with DVC the options are only limited by the points you own!

Oh you will love PO if that is all you could get.... :D
