My dd is 37 1/2 inches tall. We are going in September. I am hoping the summer will help her sprout those last few inches. Maybe vitamins too? :rotfl:
I know we'll have fun regardless, but it would be just a bit more of the added fun!

Yeah, I hear ya! My DS6 is waiting for the next height milestone of 44 inches! He's little for his age but we're hoping a summer of fresh air and good eating will push him over the top! He's really close so I'm confident he'll make it, but you still just want to see it official! We are also going in September!!!

Oh, and by the way, I agree that hitting that 40" mark really opens up a whole new world for them!
Happy growing!!

.

Oh, I have the opposite problem! DD was not yet 5 last year and was 47" tall. She wanted to ride everything! This year she wants to go on space mountain!! My ds just turned 3 and he's 39" so he'll probably be tall enough by the fall but is too timid for most of the rides. But, I agree it's better to have the option of being able to ride if they want! Good luck with the growth!

My daughter is the daredevil of the two. I know she'll be my little rollercoaster buddy.

We had the same issue a few weeks ago. DS is 37 1/2 inches.
If he wore his crocs, he was too short. But if he wore his tennis shoes with my Dr. Scholls inserts in them, then he was tall enough.
Not suggesting anything, I'm just saying what worked for us.

In all of my experiences they have been very strict.
Ditto that. My DD4 was exactly 40inches ( a hair over the line in his shoes) he was checked for everything. At TT and BTMRR he was always checked twice. (I did see a boy that passed the first check at TT but did not pass the second). By day 2 my son ran up to the CMs that would check heights and waited until they said it was ok.

We're heading for the 48" mark. DS6 is at 46 1/2 right now. We have less than 4 mths. to go. Not sure he will make it -- if not, that's ok. The only 2 rides he won't be able to go on will be RRC & Primeval Whirl -- neither of those will break my heart for him to miss. He's done all the "Have to do" rides last year. DS3 is coming up on the next milestone measurement. I'm pretty sure he will be at the Soarin, BTMRR, Splash Mtn. etc. height!! We can't wait!! DS3 also thinks he will be going on ToT -- but I don't think so!!

how strict are they with the height requirements?

Very strcit, but our experience has only been with Disneyland. Dd loves ToT and it is oner of her favroite rides. She was 44", but they would still measure her when entering the line. It was so funny because she'd definitely pass the line with a few inches to spare. We rode it back to back once and again she was singled out when entering the line to be measured. We had just gone through the line about 15 minutes before. And it was the exact same CM as before.

We've seen little kids not being able to ride Grizzly River Run in DCA too. If there's any space between the child's head and the marker, then they'd be turned away.

Dd is now 47 1/2 inches tall. We have 2 1/2 months before our trip to WDW. We've been feeding her tall glasses (12oz)of milk during each meal(3X a day). (Prior to this, we were lucky if she'd finish an 8oz glass of milk a day.) I think it's working. She's almost 48". We have warned her though, that she may not be able to ride certain rides.

Teach your child to stand super straight, most kids slouch. The extra 1/4"-1/2" may make a difference between being able to ride or not. Also note that shrinking occurs towards the end of the day. If your child barely clears the height marker in the morning, he might not be so lucky in the afternoon. Since your child has 2 1/2 inches to grow in 3 month be prepared if it doesn't happen. Have a great trip either way.

We are in a similar situation. My DS, who will be 5 when we go, is just at 40 inches right now. My DD, who just turned 3, was just measured at 37 inches. I think 3 inches by December is a long shot for her. I am wondering how I will deal with it when one of them can ride and one cannot. :(

They are almost 21 months apart, but my son is so tiny and my daughter is average, I am always being asked if they are twins. The height differnce could make for some interesting family dynamics while we are there!

I am thinking that both of them will be able to ride the 48 inch required rides by the time they are in high school!

My DS who is now 9 was 40" when he was 2 1/2 years old.

DD who is 4 1/2 is now just 40". She is dying to go on the "big rides" at WDW. We're not going until October, so at 5 yo, she'll finally be able to ride the 40" rides. Woo Hoo!

My DD is a peanut. She'll be turning 5 when we are there in September, but she's only 39" now. Her pediatrician has told me to expect her to grow about 2 inches per year. She was just shy of 38" at her appointment last September so I was really hoping for 40" this year. We shall see.

I'm using the 40" mark as an incentive to get her to eat her "growing food". She had an incredible growth spurt last summer and I'm hoping for the same this summer. She might be gearing up for a spurt. She shocked me yesterday by eating 4 pieces of pizza (unheard of for her) at a birthday party. Then she shocked me today by downing a huge helping of spaghetti, a heap of green beans, and an ear of corn. :confused3 Okay, that was kind of a strange meal but all of it was by her request and I never turn down requests for veggies.

My daughter was in tears a few times because she didnt quite make the height so I would say strict and happy they are.

We're finding the height restrictions a great way to get our picky eater to eat right now :thumbsup2 but I can see we're going to have problems- we have less than 12 months between her and her elder brother (358 days to be exact) and so she's always thought of them as "one" - she's overtaken him in alot of developmental milestones however he is built like the side of a house, tall and solid, she however is teeeeeny - in fact DS5 looks to be well over the 44" mark but I doubt DD4 will make the 38" or 40" mark before we go and she is not going to be happy! (DS17months is nearly as tall as her!!!- our boys seem to grow very fast but not our girls until they are older- my 10.5 year old daughter is nearly as tall as me already)

What we're doing is looking at maps already for fun things for DD4 and DS17months to do whilst DS5 and DD10 are on bigger kid rides.

How old is she? Your siggy says she is 2 and a 1/2 months old! Surely she is older now????

Dawn

I measured our DD (age 3) the other day and she is about 37 inches. We are going Thanksgiving week and in June 09. It will be great if she is at least 38 by Thanksgiving to go on at least Kali river rapids, but awsome if she is 40. If not Nov., then one more year. She has the problem of coming from short parents. Her spirit is willing, but her body is too short.

I sit there hoping they all get daddy's height :rotfl: (although still not sure how he got so tall- MIL would struggle to get on some rides at Disney!)

I used to have a petite child. At her 3 year check up she was 35inches. Her birthday was last week and she had her 4 year check up this morning. She is now 38 and 3/4 inches tall. I'm hoping that she can gain enough by January to go on Soarin but if not I have an excuse for the next trip.

DD was HEARTBROKEN in March when she wasn't big enough for Space Mountain (it is one of her favorite rides at Disneyland, where the height requirement is only 40) She was just shy of the bar, and DS was about an inch of.
So we are in the same boat...praying for a few inches by September!
