allready banked 2004?

I have already banked my 2004 points(100%). I will be taking a mini trip in October. I received all 4 nights with member discount. If I now want to use points for Thursday and Sunday can I borrow from 2005 or am I risking complications later down the road when I use the remaining with my 2004 points for a 12/05 vacation? Main question, can I borrow from 2005 since I allready banked 2004. Also can I change Thursday and Saturday to points and keep the same ressie or will MS cancel current ressie in order to change ressie to cash and points . Thank's Susan

Just remember that banking and borrowing are final transactions. If you borrow 2005 points and cancel the trip, the points you borrowed will expire at the end of your 2004 use year if you do not use them before then.

The points you banked will expire at the end of your 2005 use year if not used.

The only "risk" is if you don't use the points by their "new" expiration dates.

You'll have to ask MS - I'm not sure. I don't know if there are any special cancellation penalties or unusal deadlines for member discount cash ressies (Don't think so, though).

If there is no availability left for the dates you want to change, you may run into a problem.

Yes, you can have cash and point reservations linked together. However, before you cancel anything you'll want to verify that DVC has rooms available for rental via points for those dates. I believe (and someone will certainly correct me if I'm wrong), that the cancellation of your cash dates and booking on points are separate transactions. If you cancel dates obtained with the member discount, it stands to reason that those rooms would be returned to inventory and anyone on the waitlist would have first dibs before you would be able to book on points.

If they made rooms available at the cash discount rate, it stands to reason that DVC did not expect the resort to be completely booked. But make sure you ask about current vacancies and confirm what I've said above before you cancel any reservations and borrow points.

Thank's CarolMN and tjkraz. I will be staying at ssr and i believe it is now booked solid. The only way i would change the ressie would be if I could just convert the 2 cash night's to points while leaving the other 2 nights cash(member discount), I wouldn't want to risk canceling and nothing be available. Susan

They cannot simply sub the poins for the cash reservation. They'd have to cancel then rebook on points so that would be a problem if it's sold out. And while it's easy for DVC to link cash reservations scheduled through them to points, it's veyr difficult for CRO reservations. Just remember you can't unbank the 2004 points but can borrow from your regular 2005 points leaving all banked points in that year still.
