Allowed or not allowed?

Don't forget you can cook soup or hot dogs in the coffee maker. Or even wash your undergarments in it as well... (All things I've seen posted before.) Sorry just trying to add a little levity here. :cool1:

Wow.
Yes I do realize that PrincessSuzanne, you didn't have to get an attitude about it. If I didn't get my answer here I would have called and asked.
I thought this board was for resort questions.
I'm sure with most threads here you could reply "I have a novel idea, why don't you pick up the phone and call Disney and ask."
But this is what this board is for, so you don't have to.
Geez, I'm mostly having a bad experience on this site and it makes me sad!:sad2:

Hey thanks! Good idea! I just might bring a few Ramen noodles for a snack and try it out!

Here is what I found on the Moms Panel:

Can you bring a Toaster to use in a Disneyworld Resort?

Hello Carol,

I'm sorry, it is against fire safety policy to bring a toaster to use in your room at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel.
And this one:
HI, we are coming in 3 weeks and our hotel, The All-Star Movies Resort does not have a coffee maker or microwave, we have a 3 in 1 cooker that has a toaster oven, a coffee maker and grill on top that we're thinking of bringing, is that allowed?

You would be welcome to have a small coffee maker in your room. Also, there are microwave ovens and toasters available for guest use in the quick-serve dining locations in all the resorts, including All Star Movies. However, toaster ovens, grills, burners, hot plates and similar items are NOT allowed in guest rooms at WDW. (The obvious exception to this would but the villa and suite rooms that have an actual stove as part of their standard equipment.) Grill and burners are a real fire hazard. I have read that having one could be grounds for having you removed from your room.

If cooking is important to you may want to look into switching to a family suite at the All Star Music resort. These rooms have small kitchenettes equipped with a microwave and mini refrigerator. You can discuss the pricing of this with Disney directly at 407-W-DISNEY.
And this one:
We are staying at Pop Century in 2 weeks, and wondering if we are allowed to bring a George Forman grill and toaster to use in the room to use for some of our meals. Thanks!

Hey, Lindsey! I can make a mean grilled cheese on a George Foreman grill. I'd offer to make one for you, but we'd have to arrange the food preparations off property. And... now it's awkward.

Long story short, fire safety policies say "don't do it."

Now, that being said, there are toaster ovens in the food court area at Pop Century. You could bring in your own bread and toast away. The only thing you'd be forfeiting are the trademark grill marks on your bread. On the other hand, you'll have utensils and napkins at your disposal, which aren't readily available in your room.
And this one:
We are staying at the WL in November and have purchased the dining plan. We are not big breakfast eaters, so we will have small items in our room. Since we are driving to WDW and can transport one, are we allowed to have a toaster in our room? thanks

Hello Chris, I am just like you. I try to make breakfast my lighter meal of the day so I completely understand. Bringing a small appliance to your Resort room is unfortunately not allowed but you'll be happy to know there are toasters and microwaves for Guest use in all of the Quick Service locations at each of the Resorts. Also, if you are staying in a Villa, you should find you have a toaster already in your room. Hope this helps!

When you log into the official Disney website and click on WDW at the bottom of the screen you get a link to the Moms Panel.

Just because you aren't hearing what you want for an answer doesn't mean PPL are sniping. When I don't get my way I fall on the floor and kick my heals. Lighten up and remember. YOU ARE GOING TO WDW!!!!

Yeah, some people are sniping.

The OP asked whether it was allowed or not. They did not ask if everyone thought it was a good idea or not. Only Disney can tell them whether it is officially allowed or not.

We bring a 12" fan with us each trip besides blowdryers, curling and flat irons and various other electronics, phones, laptops, video camera. We've got tons of stuff charging at various times.

Exaggerate much? It's really hard to take you seriously when you resort to hyperbole.

Seriously?! Wow, I asked a simple question, I didn't expect to be treated like a potential murderer if I brought a toaster. Please, I know you might have seen some awful stuff for you to be acting like this but you're acting ridiculous and being overly paranoid and there is no reason to treat us like criminals and potential murderers for bringing small kitchen appliances or hair curlers/flat irons to Disney. :headache:

I haven't looked at this thread for a while and I see it has certainly grown.
Sara, you did ask a question and deserved an answer for it. I really didn't want you to feel like a criminal or murderer, but all too often people who have never had their lives touched with the consequences of fire danger just honestly don't know how a person/family's life can be devastated in the blink of an eye due to people 'not knowing'.
A good example is Robin and her smart "exaggeration hyperbole" remark. With experience from both the Fire Department and as a professional experiencing work in a pediatric burn unit, it's just that kind of insensitive remark that makes people who do know about fire safety all that more cautious. Robin, I suggest you spend some time volunteering in your area hospital burn unit. I guarantee that within a week you'll 'grow' to the point where you'll remember fire safety for the rest of your life. Add that to your 'hyperbole'. I think that I've now seen enough of this thread. Some people just learn the hard way.

In general hotels in the us have strict fire codes. Whatever cooking equiTment is provided is what the room is coded for. Hotel rooms that do not feature a kitchenette are not zoned for any sized cooking appliance. That means toasters, hotpots, crockpots etc, but the best thing to do if you don't want to break rules is to call the hotel front desk and speak to a manager. Yes, there is a good chance that you can put it out and no one will say anything and it is your choice to risk it. I know that in the hotel I manage at, cooking devices are not allowed in rooms and our housekeepers will report any violations to the manager. Other then for fire code, they aren't allowed due to odor. While the smell of toast might not be that obvious, like pets and cigarette smoke, the smell permeates the bedding, carpets, drapes and mattresses making it harder for the room to be cleaned and re-rented.

My advice is to ask when you check in. If you call you will not get to speak to someone at the resort, you will get the call center and unless the info is in their computer they will not know the answer.

Wow.

So THAT'S why the coffee tastes so bad!!!!! :crazy2: Not Nestle's fault- it's the fault of the previous guests and their unique uses for the coffee maker!! :rotfl2:

To the OP: my official response from Disney about a year ago was that appliances such as toaster ovens, small grills, and hot plates are not allowed at Disney. DH wanted to bring one, and I did not want him to, so I got the official response from Disney.

There are toasters in the food courts at the resorts. I would suggest making use of them.

Oh dear, looks like we have another group... the Disney Rule-Breakers or DRBs for short. Do we need a logo? Maybe a pool-hopping toaster? :confused3:rotfl:

That's a DEFINITE rule -- you can not use your own toaster in the pools.

FYI toaster and toaster ovens are not the same thing.
