Alligators Visit the Parks Too!

Saw this little guy Sunday at the Magic Kingdom. The wood planking at the bottom of the picture is the Frontierland walkway along the river. This one was only maybe four feet long, but proof that even Mickey can't always control Mother Nature. So a good strategy is to be watchful around the water, even in the Disney Parks. Unless you want a hook for a hand, that is!

We saw 2 last week in frontierland too. We saw one on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. I think they are known to be around that water area.

I've read a lot of people actually think they are animatronic ala Jungle Cruise.

I wonder if they're working on a "pick a handbag" attraction, modeled on the "pick a pearl" booth?

Oh, how cute! I've always wanted to see one on our trips but never have. I'll have to keep an eye out in Frontierland when I'm there next summer.

We saw him hanging around behind the Turkey Leg stand on the grass. Security was close by watching him. He was just hanging out and then did a quick flip and turn and slid back to the water.

Few weeks ago they had to close Splash Mountain because him or one of his cousins made it in to the ride. Yes, they keep a close eye. We saw one in the water at Animal Kingdom just under bridge going into Dinoland.

They routinely remove them from property when they reach a certain size. 4 feet is probably approaching that size maximum.

We see one every trip in the water by Liberty Bell. Last one we saw was 5-6 footer. Only see one at a time.

We've always seen at least one every trip.

We also have seen them in Frontierland.

They need a zipline ride over the ferocious reptiles like they have at Gatorland!!

Or even better, a tightrope walk above them!!

They need to relocate these guys to the Jungle Cruise area for authenticity. I don't think there are alligators in the Missouri River in Missouri.

We saw one daily on our trip in Sept. at the Beach Club Villas. He would hang out in the lake by the quiet pool.

I remember seeing one on the bus back to Shades of Green. The party I was with decided to hike over to where it was in hopes of getting pictures. He was gone. They were walking close to the lake shore hoping to see him swim. I kept thinking they were complete idiots and was glad when they never found him. There's no way I'm going to walk to the water's edge when I know there is a gator in there and I can't see him.

What was the alligator doing on the bus?

My niece is a former cast member and she says that one of the jobs of the Splash Mountain ride opener is to walk the ride each morning and shoo out any wandering alligators.

Don't know if it is true or not but she told us that Florida law prohibits the relocation of alligators unless they have been deemed dangerous.

I have looked for the gators a couple times recently at WDW and have not seen a single one, yet I keep seeing pictures of them!
