Alligator Bayou or Oak Manor at POR?

I've stayed in both and I prefer Alligator Bayou -- but it's just my "theme" preference. The two areas have very different feels. Alligator Bayou is kind of "Tom Sawyer" while the mansions are a little more "Gone with the Wind." The Mansions were certainly lovely, but the interior didn't strike me as any more interseting than any other nice hotel. The Bayou was simply more charming -- had more character.

With the exception of the theme, the amenities and the distance to various resort points felt about the same.

I like the Alligator Bayou. We've stayed in Bldg. 14 nearest the food court. I seems to me that the Mansions are farther from the food court and pools (2 important considerations for us). We also liked the trundle bed.

42 days and counting! :bounce:

We stayed at the Oak Manor at our request, but after walking around the resort I think the Alligator Bayou is more my style. More secluded and less formal.

We prefer AB because its more spread-out and thus quieter. (Same number of people spread over a larger area.) Also, you can park your car closer to your room. You also have a better chance of getting a second (top) floor room so your odds of having an insominiac above you are greatly reduced.

As has already been noted, building 14 is very convenient to check-in/gift shop/bus stop and restauraunts.

Oh yes, and we love the themeing.

I've stayed waaaaay out back in the Bayou...bldg 35 if I remember correctly. Much further than the mansions, but still a nice walk. I've stayed in Magnolia Terrace...liked the furnishings, much more formal than AB. Quick walk to everything. But, in June I stayed in AB again..bldg 14, corner room. Died and gone to heaven. The bus stop was a 90 second walk as was the food court. The main pool was further away but only a 3 minute walk. Great location. I loved just walking around the Bayou area. It's just plain charming. More private.

Hmmm...Tough choice. I have stayed at AB and Magnolia Bend, and liked both. AB is close to everything if you pick the right building. Magnolia Bend is beautiful, but you have to cross the bridge. I prefer not walking far at the end of the day when I'm tired from the parks, so I like AB best.
