Has anyone been able to get a nut-free, gluten-free cake? I have one gluten free daughter and one peanut allergic daughter. Seems as though the Disney allergy cakes are not guaranteed to be nut free. I was looking into Babycakes, but it seems like they do not guarantee their items to be peanut free.
It is my daughters 8th bday and we will be having her birthday dinner at BOG.

Babycakes does not guarantee their cakes to be TREE NUT free because of the flour they use. But they don't use any peanut products at all so from everything I know, they are peanut free. I used to eat there all the time before diagnosed with my tree nut and coconu allergy.

As far as I know, Disney cannot guarantee a peanut free cake because of cross contamination. But we've never tried to order an allergy one because I have so many other allergies.

I don't have any current information, but several years ago I was able to get a peanut-free cake made at Liberty Tree Tavern. I learned afterward that it was also gluten-free, but it was actually very good. Normally I don't like gluten-free cakes. It was not a fancy cake like you see in the cake thread, but the chef at LTT added some Tinkerbell decorations. We were very happy with it.

Thank you for your replies! I emailed both magickindomcakes and babycakes. Waiting to hear back.

The nut issue at Babycakes deals with almonds. Their flour source facility also processes almond flour. The company discards enough of the flour in between the switch to make it almond-free, but they can not 100% guarantee without a doubt that there will be no traces of almonds for the severely allergic.

All of that is posted on their website, but I thought I would post here so people didn't have to jump pages to research.

I don't know anything about gluten free, but my nut allergic daughter has had the chocolate cake at LTT on two different trips. Perhaps you could try to get in touch with them and see if they have gluten free options as well?

Or, would you consider booking the Wishes Dessert Party? They prepared DD's food in the back and brought it to the table instead of her going through the buffet line. She had ice cream, cookies, brownies, and a few types of cake. The plate (more like a platter) they brought to her was huge! I don't have any experience with gluten free, but I imagine they would do a great job with that as well.

Something to keep in mind about ordering a cake at an in-park restaurant is that you have to carry the leftovers after. I've ordered Babycakes cakes twice and haven't regretted it but I ordered them for restaurants at our resort so that after dinner I could just carry the remaining cake straight to our room and stick it in the fridge. The smallest Babycakes cake is 6" and that's a lot bigger than you might thing. We barely ate 1/4 of it at the table. It's a pretty tall cake. I wasn't about to just leave the rest of that cake since it's certainly not a cheap cake (at the time I paid I think around $45 for a 6" cake).

There's a cake thread on the restaurant board. It contains contact information for ordering cakes at different locations. The people at this line will put you in touch with whomever provides the allergy cakes for that particular location. I think a few places make their own cakes rather than ordering through Babycakes though this may have changed as it's been a while since I ordered one. Anyway, the people on the cake line will know who to work with for your location of choice.

Thanks everyone! The disney cake line said they use peanuts, but will do what they can to keep it peanut free. I am going to go with Babycakes. I tried it out here last week in NYC and it was good! And my peanut allergic daughter was fine with it. It's more of an almond and hazelnut issue, which she isn't allergic to.
I know carrying around a cake will be a drag, but we have dinner res at BOG, and I don't want to change that. We have a stroller, so maybe we can stick it in the bottom, although not sure it would hold up in the heat. As long as we have some at dinner, she'll be happy.

The icing on Babycakes cakes are made with coconut butter which has a lower melting point than typical shortening. The icing won't do well at all in any kind of heat and actually gets really soft even at room temperature. Can you bring some kind of soft sided cooler to put it in under the stroller? Bring some ziploc bags and get them filled with ice to keep it colder. Just make sure it's big enough for the cake box but small enough to fit under the stroller. Either that or maybe you can do the cake on a day that's not actually her birthday?

In my experience, the people at Babycakes are super helpful especially when you give them some notice. Because the icing melts so quickly (I carried a small ice pack and their cupcakes with me in a cooler bag into a few parks last year and even then the icing would slip off), you could possibly ask them to put the icing in a separate container for you that you can pack in a small cooler bag. It may be a bit of a task to ice the cake yourself at BOG but I'd hate for you to spend all that money and then have all the icing slip off into a blob in the box. Just a suggestion! Or if you have a way to keep it very cold and completely upright, it would most likely turn out great. Why must allergies be such hard work?!? Either way, enjoy your time!

Celliac here and I get Babycakes all the time and can guarantee that icing is going to melt right off and you will have a disgusting mess if it is warm out at all. You'd be much better off to put the cake in your resort refrigerator and have it for dessert after returning from the park.

OOOoooo you made my day! They used to have a different chocolate dessert at LTT that was nut safe but I was really hoping the cake was. It's so hard to find really good chocolate desserts at WDW with a nut allergy.:cool1:

Glad I could help. :thumbsup2

We're doing 1 day in MK later this month (stopping at WDW on our way home from Vero Beach) and I made a lunch ADR at LTT just so DD could have the cake again.
