Allergic reactions to anesthesia?

Several months ago I had to undergo an operation (first ever op) and when I woke up my stomach didn't work right for 4 months after (vomitted daily and couldn't process food). Other reactions happened due to rapid weight loss as I couldn't eat for 4 months. Doctor finally said that I may have had a reaction to the anesthesia? Anyone experience anything like this?

I didnt experience anything as bad as that. That sounds awful. I had surgering and woke up and my husband wasn't there and I pretty much freaked out. Got pretty paranoid.
And I would get the itches from epidurals.

The first time I had general anesthesia I vomited a lot afterwards, but not longer than my hospital stay. The last time I had it they gave me some anti-nausea medication, and I did fine.

When I had my epidural I got the chills really bad, and I did vomit, but only once, and I think it might have been as a result of labor, and not the epidural.

I have heard of people having some reactions to anesthesia, but your reaction is stronger than any of those. Keep talking to your doctor about it.

I have wicked reactions to anaesthesia, this is why they no longer put me out, everything is done with a local or it's not done.... It's awful, the last surgery put me in the hospital where I checked myself out after three days Against Medical Advice because my head just wasn't screwed on right... I was in tough shape for WEEKS and weeks... I had the eating problem you mentioned after my last C section.... I couldn't eat for months either.... Whatever you do, always tell all your doctors about your reaction... they must know....

Chris1gill, thanks for letting me know I wasn't alone. I am still feeling the out of my head thing on occasion but it seems to be getting better but I am still having various side effects but they are lessoning.
