Allergic reaction to Bare Escentuals...

and I'm so disappointed! This stuff looks so nice!
I bought a very pretty eyeshadow kit from QVC, tried it on and my eyes started to water...no big deal. Second day I tried it my left eye was swollen by the top eyelid and then my inner eye corner got very itchy. I thought/hoped it was weather allergies. So, I went to Sephora to find out what color foundation I need and the make-up girl applied the make-up. 10 minutes later both eyes started to water and feel itchy. So, now I have to return the starter kit next time I go to the mall

I did a google search and found out 30% of users have an allergic reaction to bismuth oxychloride. Seems that it's an ingredient being used by mineral make-up companies to have the make-up stay on faces.

This message board for dancers recommended Aromaleigh products since they don't use bismuth oxychloride. Guess I have to try again.

I can wear BE foundation, shadows and blushes, but cannot wear the Mineral Veil because of the bismuth--I get all red and itchy! I switched to Pure Luxe's Translucent and April's Mix finishing powders, and I have no problem with those at all.

I tried BE a year or so ago. Wore it for about a month before I broke out with big red weeping welts.... I happened to be at the Mall of America when it started and went to the store there. THe girl was most unhelpful. TOld me that no one ever has a reaction to their makeup! LOL. I just stopped using it completely. Wonder if it was just the mineral veil? Maybe I could try it again... It was horrible.

I own quite a bit of Aromaleigh products. I like the way they feel and they have awesome eyeshadow. Also they are far more reasonably priced than the other mineral make ups!

They also are great with getting samples out and very helpful if you have any questions. Sorry you are allergic to BE, but don't fret about Aromaleigh. I found them after I knew I didn't want the "dewy" look from BE, and have been happy with them for when I dress up and go out.
