Allegiant Sale (Specifically Rockford, IL)

Just wanted to give a shout out for Allegiant Air. I have been waiting to purchase air for our September trip/wedding/honeymoon, taking the risk that they could go either way. Today it was stressing me out, so I decided to look for a few fares. Checked out Allegiant out of Rockford, found flights for $59 plus all the taxes and fees. My wife to be was sitting behind me and I shouted "holy cow" and she bolted up to see what was going on. The cheapest flights that I could find out of Minneapolis were about 240 a ticket, with taxes and all I spent about 40 bucks more and a 4 hour drive. Almost two hundred dollars saved just by driving a little distance. Not bad I would say. Sure there is the time factor, but for 70 bucks I can drive to and from Rockford, free parking there, so that isn't an issue. So pretty much for about 50 bucks more I got airfare and car for going to Rockford. Not bad.

Just wanted to give you the 411 on the Rockford Airport if you haven't used it before. I flew out of there twice, once when I was in college at Rockford College to go to a wedding. The other time was Spring Break 2005 to go to Orlando/Sanford. It's a great little airport. Parking is FREE. Yep. FREE. It's like parking at the mall. The sky hops or whatever you call them, don't take tips, they get paid a salary and don't rely on tips, we tried to tip the guy and he refused saying it really wasn't allowed. Since it's away from all residential areas and in an industrial park area, the cars are pretty safe there. We had no probs. Keep in mind there is no ME from Orlando/Sanford to WDW, but we used Orlando/Sanford transportation and they were very nice and punctual (if you look up the Sanford Airport website, there is a list of car services and Orlando Sanford is on there). They even had movies for the kids on the way from WDW back to the airport. Our flights were with a different airline, TMA maybe?? They no long exsist. Also the day we were there they had local TV camera crews because every seat on every flight was booked that day. Now at O'hare that would be a crisis, but you would never had known if they weren't broadcasting it at Rockford. Have a great trip and congrats!
