Do they participate with ME?

Please give me your experiences with this airline....good, bad, etc. They haven't gotten a lot of good press around here, so I'm not sure I want to try them.

I've flown them twice - one way each time. Both flights were out of Sanford and coming home.

In 2007, there was some sort of problem with an engine. We were building up speed to take off, just about to lift off, when the pilot hit the brakes. :scared1: It turned out he didn't like how one of the engines was sounding and he didn't feel comfortable taking off. :worship::worship: Back to the terminal where we waited a few hours for another plane but we got home in one piece.

In 2008, the flight went well; without a hitch.

We're using them in a few days for our flight from home to MCO and I hope all goes well again. We're using ME but, since we're arriving, I don't know if ME will take your bags right from the resort or if you'll need to schlepp them yourselves.

In large part because until recently all Allegiant flights used only Sanford airport, no, the flights that recently moved to MCO do not participate in Resort Airline Check-in. As It'sWDW4Me states, this means you'll have to bring your luggage with you on (under) the bus on your return to the airport.

If your flight lands at Orlando International Airport - MCO - you will absolutely be able to use Magical Express to get to WDW, and you'll get the DME packet with the luggage tags to get your luggage magically delivered to your room as well. You'll also be able to use Magical Express to get back to the airport.

I use Allegiant for flights to St. Petersburg on a regular basis. Only had one delay in 4 years due to a flooding toliet. Remember that you are charged a fee for everything: Seat selection, baggage, food and drink, etc. This past weekend when I flew on them to Vegas, they made everyone get their carry ons tagged with a sticker at the ticket counter. Even if you had only a carry on, you still had to stand in line. Apparently, they have had problems with the size and amounts of carry ons. I was told that this will be effective for all flights starting Sept. 1

Ah, so did you see if they were enforcing the carry-on guidelines? I was planning on the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach this year and bringing a 20" suitcase as my carry-on.

We have flown Allegiant to LAX and I like the airline--love their cheap fares from time to time.
We only take carry ons and in May they came and measured my bag while I was waiting to board. It passed.

Last week we booked tickets to Phoenix for this week--great prices--and again, we will take only carry ons. They usually charge less for checked bags if you pre-pay when buying your tickets. The 1 checked bag fee was $49.99That is crazy. That sure encourages everyone to take carry ons and their cheap fares don't look so cheap if you need to check a bag, plus the in/out of Sanford factor--needing to rent a car or hiring a car service.

only flew once on them. sanford to elmira ny $29 each way last year). wish they would fly from sanford or orlando to las vegas

Yes, that is why they are making everyone come to the ticket counter. When boarding, they usually request that you put anything that can go under the seat in front of you. It is a fight for bin space.

All Allegiant flights to Orlando are now out of MCO--no more Sanford!

When is the effective date? When I search for flights to Orlando, there is a note on the page that says the flight is into Sandford.

It would be great if they switched to MCO--more convenient.

Alletown, PA to Orlando flights changed from Sanford to MCO this past February. Maybe they couldn't get a flight pattern from wherever you're flying from to go to MCO?

When I saw they changed to MCO for us I did a happy dance! You're right, the bulk of the savings by flying out of SFB is eaten up by the cost of renting a car!

We flew Allegiant from Grand Rapids, MI to Vegas. It was a direct flight, so that was good. They told us our carry-ons were too big and that they would check them for free. I think they did this for a bunch of people checking in early in order to make room for others to carry their's on, because I saw people bringing on luggage the same size as our's. On the way home, we carried them on with no trouble.

We didn't pay for seat assignments for the way out, but got seated together ... the noisiest flight I've ever been on. I wished I'd had earplugs, the plane noise was awful!

On the way home, I called Allegiant (took forever to get through) and pre-paid for seats so that we could check in on-line and get seating away from the engine noise.

Overall, it was an interesting experience but nice to fly out of an airport close to home that was a direct flight.

Only certain cities fly to MCO, the rest still go to Sanford. I believe they only leased one
gate at MCO.

Someone recently posted that they cut back their flights from Grand Rapids and their flight was cancelled, they were moved to a different date!
