Last year I took Allegiant Air from Allentown Pa to Sanford Fl. $79.00 each way plus 10.00 for each passenger for each leg of the trip for guarenteed seat assignment. I am travelling with a kid and dont want to be seperated.

All was well. This year again I booked Allegiant at the "79.00" rate along with the confirmed seat(now 11.00)...so now its $90.00. ONLY this year they now charge you a "luggage" fee..and NOT UNTIL YOU GIVE YOUR CC # And check out They add a whole bunch of other fees....FEDERAL TAXES: $22.04, SEGMENT FEES: $13.60 (????), PFC: $13.00 (????),911 SECURITY: $10.00(????),CONVENIENCE FEE: $15.00.

ALL IN ALL the 79.00 flight is NOW is $105.90 per person per flight! A 26.90 difference...per person per flight!

Today I recieved a email saying that they lowered their flights to $59.00!

I called their Customer Service desk (long distance), and after waiting for Customer Service for a considerable time, I was finally put through to the ONE & ONLY REP THEY HAVE.

I inquired to the Rep that I would like to recieve a credit for the price difference. She said that Allegiant does not do this. I would have to cancel each ticket segment at a cost of $50.00 (200 in total) to save $40.00 (80.00 in total)!:confused3

This is what I consider BULLY TACTICS!

I said to the Rep that that was neither fair or good business, that Allegiant treat their customers that way.

In essence what Allegiant is saying is that you should NOT book with them until the price comes down. In my opinion this is very bad business practice.

The Rep was not very forthcoming on the phone, I asked her if I can talk to a Supervisor, she said that she is the supervisor. I then asked for a manager, she said there wasn't any. I asked if there is anybody i else I can speak too, she said no. Nor could she offer me any contact names or numbers.

This is not the first time I used Allegiant, BUT it will be the LAST time I ever use Allegiant Airlines.

Not nice, Not nice at all!:headache:

I'm sorry you're upset, but I don't think you'll find an airline which will treat you differently. Virtually every airline, with the exception of Southwest, would make you do the same thing. They simply do not allow you to change to a lower airfare for free. In addition, it is usual and customary to quote airfares before taxes and not after.

I never heard that before....rule was always book now so you are protected if the $ is raised, and if lowerd you get a refund.!

Gonna go back to driving!:thumbsup2 This whole airline thing is too deceptive for my liking.

I thought that was odd about not knowing all the fees...I did email them regarding this, but I never heard back!:confused3

try going onto cheap tickets and kayak and putting in airfair from abe to sanford, ,1 there is no direct flights and second $300 is the norm, $11 for seat assignments and $5 for a bag is getting to be the norm, that's life..

Wow. Did you ask her if she flies and maintains the planes herself, too? I mean, I know Allegiant is small, but that small? ONE person in the office?

Anyway, you have two PMs. I mean, right now you have one, but I found more information :)

If you want no service then fly a low price airline. If you what a low price with no service, shop at Wal_Mart. You will not get what you do not pay for....

Yes this is the Only direct flight from ABE!

However I could easily leave from Newark or Philly! Its NOT so much the original price, its the 'secret read the fine print prices"added and then they lowered them and tell you "Sorry But you shouldnt trust us" attitude!:confused3

Thats all

Yup SHE WAS IT! no one else I can talk too!
:lmao: It does sound like a episode from Green Acres though!

:confused3 what service???????????? Have you ever flown them??? Pretty much the same service you get on any airline today. Glorified Busses!

I do not mind paying the rates they want, in fact I am paying a HIGHER RATE than those who book NOW.

I am being penalized for being a early flight booking customer?

Why is this any different then if I pre Ordered a Book today from Amazon.com for $50.00, that wont be released to August! Then THEY charged my CC $50.00 TODAY.

Then Next week the book price is lowered to $20.00. Amazon will refund the difference...as would any other retail company. Why should the Airlines be any different. They use to do this all the time.

Sorry you are so upset about Allegiant. I know when you are angry it makes a scenario look and feel really bad.

We also fly ABE to Sanford on Allegiant, in fact we have been flying Allegiant before they even serviced ABE and only last year tried the ABE to Sanford option for the first time.

I have been a frequent flyer for a long time and have never had an airline refund me the difference when a price went down AFTER I had purchased tickets.

With respect to Allegiant... We have NEVER opted to pay for assigned seating. I always skip that option and in more than 6 family trips with 3 small children, our party has never been separated.

With the exception of the $2.00 each way baggage fee, all of the other fees have nothing to do with Allegiant. They are added on by the airport, government, TSA, Department of Homeland Security, etc.. They have to charge it.. And no Airline that I know of (I fly 4 on a regular basis) include these government mandated taxes and fees in their price quotes.

I also have to say..That I have called Allegiant using the NV number several times, and while I can relate with the very long hold times while waiting for a Representative, I have never spoken to the same person twice.

We love Allegiant and are glad they fly from Allentown to Sanford. Its so much easier than using a larger more expensive airline and going from Philly to MCO...UGH!! That is just awful.. And we have a wonderful driver that picks us up at Sanford and takes us right to Disney.

We just booked for our Sept. trip at $59.00 each way.. Still at $79.00 its a real bargin.. You would be charged the extra fees (again with the exception of the $2.00 each way baggage fee) by any other airline..period.

Again, sorry you are having such a bad experience.. But all of the terms, conditions, fees, etc are in the fine print that you have to agree that you have read before clicking purchase for the final time when booking.

Again, sorry you had a bad experience, but we absolutley love Allegiant and are so glad we can fly from ABE to Sanford instead of having to fly out of Philly, Newark, or MCO..:thumbsup2

Thanks! I dont fly often anymore...(thinkin of going back to driving) so there have been way too many changes in the past few years that I am not aware of. I really had no problem with Allegiant, until this year.

I am starting to think that "fine print" should be outlawed!:thumbsup2 It never does any consumer any good. But this CR rep...just had me flippen with her "I am the only one here" attitude. Why couldnt she explain to me what you just did. :yay: (that was a rhetorical question!)

Thanks for rubbing in you got the 59.00 fee:headache:
;)

I'm a huge fan of Allegiant as well. The bottom line is it's just the chance you take when booking. I came very close to booking 2 weeks ago at the $69 (each way) rate from TYS to SFB, but I rolled the dice and waited. In three days that rate went down to $39.

Not trying to be harsh, but every bit of that info is on Allegiant's website about change fees, etc. And I agree there is no need to select specific seating.

We're flying to Vegas at the end of the month for a week, and our Disney trip is at the end of Sept. Had I booked similar flights through Delta, I would have shelled out $1,438.00 more for two trips.

Allegiant is a bargain ... and you're still going to save money. Let it pass and enjoy Disney! :thumbsup2

I agree, even with a 100+ dollars added on!:headache: However it is really really not the $, more so I felt that I was taken advantage of.

This is what I learned
1) Never book Allegiant Unless they are having a sale!
2) Since their Cust Service rep really peeved me off (normally I couldnt care less...really...even in my TR I mention how great Allegiant was last year), I will NEVER book with them again.
3) Never trust a company with more than 3 lines of fineprint!

Yes this is a sort of "cut my nose to spite my face" attitude. But her only answers were "thats not our policy" and "I am the only one here" really blew me away! I really felt like I was duped after talking with her. If she just answered me like the poster above did, I would be ok with that!

So much so that I will go either Newark or Philly next time and take Advantage of Magic Express...or DRIVE.(talk about cutting your nose to spite your face...Huh!):confused3

You may have a point about the need for fine print being illegal!! LOL But for the meantime, everything really is spelled out there.

I did not mean to rub in the fact that we got the $59.00 fare, but hey since you brought it up, all I have to say is.....NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH!!:woohoo:

LOL...Only joking! Enjoy Disney! :thumbsup2
