New Airline to our area.
Non stops to Orlando
You can pre-reserve your seat on the plane
(no ABC from SWA)

But how are they ?
Safety record of MD80's ?
On time ?

Anyone fly them ?

How many seats on a MD80 & how many in seats in a row ?

Thanks!

We just flew them on our return trip from Sanford last Sunday and we were very impressed with them!! The flight left a few minutes late but we still arrived in Portsmouth on time. One of the Allegiant Air employees personally took us to our truck which was parked in the C&J Trailways parking lot a couple of miles away...talk about service!! We called for a taxi when we got to the airport, the taxi driver got lost trying to find her way to the airport (it was dark and apparently she had never been there before). After 30 minutes had gone by the Allegiant Air folks realized we were still waiting for the taxi and several of them offered to run us over to the bus terminal which we were very grateful for. They are a no-frills airline but I would absolutely fly them again!!

I thought the planes had more leg room than the Southwest or Song planes. Our plane had 3 seats on each side and I'm not sure exactly how many seats there are but we were in row 22 and there were still 6 or 8 rows behind us. We didn't pay the extra for pre-reserved seats. They assign seats for you once you arrive at the airport at no charge (the plane was about 2/3 full so we were easily able to get 3 seats together).

I think it'll take about seven or eight more months before we get a good read on Allegiant, both in terms of long-term viability, and long-term customer satisfaction performance. Right now, it's still a new airline, getting its feet wet, trying very hard to make a good impression.

just flew Allegiant, see post on title "allegiant air" by toyztory. we loved it--no complaints here. Sanford airport was great also.
