Although I was extremely excited when Allegiant started flying direct from Duluth to Orlando, that excitement was short-lived when I realized they fly into Sanford. I knew some cities had been moved to MCO, but Duluth wasn't one of them.

Until now... maybe...???

Allegiant's website says they are currently booking flights through 1/31/11, which they are, if I want to fly from Duluth to Vegas (our only other option directly from Duluth).

But for flights from Duluth to Orlando, they are only booking through September 4. Could it be that maybe after that we will switch to MCO??

I can only hope! :cloud9:

I'm not aware of any announcements. As of this moment, Allegiant service remains scheduled to Orlando Sanford only.

We'd use Allegiant too if they flew into MCO.

Did you know that they don't fly every day though? That was also an issue but we'd live with that if we could at least get to MCO. LOL I'll keep watching too for any changes and let you know if I hear of any!

I am leary of Allegiant, though my friend swore by them when they were flying Rochester to Las Vegas. He loved the $29 one way fares. He flies alone and doesn't check bags, so no priority seating or baggage fees.....

I do look at Duluth to Las Vegas once in a while, but prices are pretty high...

I grew up northwest of Duluth, straight up hwy 2, so I like the area. Now I am a MSP guy through and through.

You maybe seeing the Sept end date because they stop flying into Orlando for a few months. We take Allegiant out of Appleton, WI and they discontinue service during what seems to be low travel (hurricane season) and pick back up later in the year. We too go into Sanford and it is actually quite easy. Much smaller than the Orlando airport and less security lines. You do need a car though...

Flying into Sanford isn't that bad. I flew from Fargo to Sanford last August, and I really, really enjoyed it. It's only about 30 miles from Disney World. Unfortunately, Magical Express doesn't go there, but even with the price of a rental car, it's probably cheaper to fly Allegiant into Sanford and rent a car than fly into MCO on another airline and and take Magical Express.

You've piqued my curiousity now... I'll have to go check out Allegiant's website and see if they nwo fly from Fargo into MCO :surfweb:

Poking around on their website, it does still go to Sanford from Duluth, BUT you can fly from Duluth to Sanford for $89 one way around Christmas :yay: (that's where I was on the calendar because that's when we're thinking of going). You might want to go check that out :)

Hi! Thanks for your feedback. Seeing as we avoid driving like the plague do you know if taxi service is readily available at Sanford? Curious what a 30 mile taxi ride would cost. LOL

Just this morning I booked a round trip ticket for a family member to meet up with me while I'm in Orlando a couple weeks from now in June. It was just under $70 round trip :cool1: and it flies into MCO, not Sanford.

So, at least some of their operations are already shifting to MCO. Don't know about Duluth.

The flights out of Springfield MO to Orlando switched from Sanford to MCO earlier this year. YAY!!!! Keep your fingers crossed and don't give up hope because it could happen!

I called Allegiant about the lack of service from Fargo to Orlando-Sanford from late August through the beginning of October and was told they were on a 6 week hiatus. I'm assuming the same is for Duluth.

From KY we fly allegiant directly to MCO. It used to go to Sanford which was really easy.
