All you new cruisers - listen up!

Are there times of the year when the seas are roughet than others so the boat rocks more? Can you feel it less on the bigger ships?

I get motion sickness in the car :/
For me sea bands, from an hour before boarding until the cruise is over (I can't even take them off to shower) and bonine at bedtime (starting a couple days ahead of time) and I'm just fine.
The patch makes me really sick which isn't totally uncommon.
Motion sickness is much easier to prevent than to treat.

I get motion sickness from rides that go up and down like a swing (I keep thinking of this big boat ride at SeaWorld where I thought I might throw up on everyone!). I take a Bonine the night before we leave on the cruise and then only continue taking them if there are rough seas. My 12 year old still gets sick from riding in the car- he also takes Bonine and wears sea bands. I also take ginger chews (I buy mine at Whole Foods) and I might have 1-2 throughout the day. Our cabin steward told us that green apples are what the crew eats when they feel bad.

Sea Bands got me through the worst of my pregnancy morning sickness. Those things are miracle workers for me. I know they don't work for everyone but I will for sure be bringing mine! I haven't cruised before but I grew up in New England and have spent plenty of time on boats of all sizes. I've never had an issue but I know a cruise ship is a different ball game. Fingers crossed!
