all you mamas with infants and toddlers....

Awwww, what a cutie!!

This thread caught my eye because we're going in Sept and will be taking our baby who will be turning 6 mo's old while we're there. I was thinking about starting a new thread asking for tips on strollers (we're bringing our own) or slinging (what kind is best for carrying baby all day) ride swap (or whatever that's called) etc.

Can you give me some tips?

I'm a local SoCal resident so my boys (3 and 7 months) have been there so much its not even funny! My 3 years old went for the first time when he was just months old and now my newest started going when he was 5 weeks old!!

My 3 yeard old just LOVES DL and always talks about it and my babe enjoys the sights and sounds as long as I let him nap in the stoller every now and then!!

I have people tell me I'm silly for wasting my money and taking them this early on but I just ignore what they say! Silly non-Disney folks!!

LOL! Thanks for the encouragement. We haven't been in two years and we really don't want the two older kids to miss out, so we're going. And the baby is still BF'ing so she goes too!

Can you give me any tips? So you take a stroller then? What are your favorite attractions that you can take the baby on? Which ones of those don't let the stoller in the queue? Stuff like that...

Have you thought about starting a separate thread on this subject?? Lots of moms on this board and we all have different experiences. We could give some really good advice - but it could get lost on this thread!

We love to bring our double stroller for our two younger kids. They are bigger now, but I still bring it because there is such a lot of walking and they get soooo tired.

i would definitely take a stroller, or you could also rent one there. especially if you have a diaper bag and stuff; i loved that i could hang it on our stroller b/c it got soooo heavy to just be carrying around all day (and a baby would get pretty heavy too;) ) you could also bring the sling to give baby a break from the stroller, but for naps its also nice to have.

i loved taking my son on POTC, HM, Buzz lightyear, winnie the pooh, and anything they would let him on :rotfl2:! surprisingly, theres a lot they can do!

and i agree...no baby is too young to enjoy DL! the earlier they get to experience the magic, the better:goodvibes !

you are definitely not wasting your money! some people just dont get it:rolleyes: lol i would have LOVED to take my son at a really young age, but i had a bad labor/delivery and it took me months and months to recover. so i think you're great for taking them while they're still so little:thumbsup2 and thats so cute that your 3 year old talks about DL...it must be nice to be able to share that with your child and be able to see the look on his face when you say "we're going to DL!"! priceless:goodvibes haha i cant wait for my son to understand that!

Our DD was 2.5 for her first trip and we did two days straight and then got annual passes - Yippee!!.
She had a hard time getting used to the characters even though she loves MM clubhouse and all the playhouse Disney shows. Minnie was very patient with her and she did great for those photos. I think the size can freak them out, because some of the others scared her a bit more - Sully, Goofy, etc.
BTW- she loved the Playhouse Disney show at DCA. That was a hit!! She also did really well in Aladdin - that is now her favorite movie - who would have thought, since that is a long show.

Strollers- I used our McClarren the first day since we could have naptime at the DH. The second day, I used our big graco since it reclined almost flat. That made for a great nap location - we just found a shady spot in DCA and took turns sitting with her. She actually slept about 1.5 hours. The Disney rentals don't recline and I liked having more storage space with the Graco. It was also easy to manuver and push for everyone. It was definately worth the hassle of getting on and off the Tram.

Thank you all for the encouragement! I need it because it's had me a little concerned. Mostly because I know it will be so much harder than just going with our two older ones.

Thanks for the suggestion to start a new thread. I will do that! :)

so you went on the ladies trip?? thats so neat, how was it? i bet you made lots of new friends!

oh and i must say...you are BRAVE. wearing brand new heels??!! your poor poor feet! i bet they looked good though!:cutie:

if you have any pics of the water areas i would love to see them! thanks so much!

Oh I wish I could have gone! My solo trip depleted the funds, and even though we tried to get me to the ladies trip, I couldn't. :( I've committed to going in '09, though. Not sure how we'll manage it, but we're working on it. You should go! I'm from San Jose, though I left at 17, and it's always fun to hear how things have changed (the day I flew up to college the paper was announcing that the city had hit the million mark in population).

The brand new heels were super-cute for about a long block. Then I started getting blisters and my feet started swelling from the heat. So they did NOT look cute for anyone else to see. It was just a bad move on my part. But there's that older song with the line "all the girls walk by, dressed up for each other"...and I surely find that to be the case with me. I'll dress up much "cuter" to meet female friends than I will to see guy friends! Silly me.

so you also had a bad labor/delivery? it just makes you love your little ones even more..all the pain and suffering we have to go through. how long was your labor? i had 24 hours of pure torture:eek: :scared: and after everything your poor body goes through, you just know its going to be a looooong time until you get to see DL again:sad1: lol

bumbershoot,

you're from san jose:) ? ive lived here my whole life; now im in south san jose, but ive always lived closer to the cupertino area (where i went to school). i always think about moving closer to DL, but im just not sure if ill be happy. how did you feel when you left?

haha im the same way about dressing for women more than men! probably b/c women notice every single little thing about other women, and men really dont:rotfl2:

oooh and i love those pics! it looks like so much fun, i cant wait for my son to enjoy it. do you know if it will be open in october?

I dealt with more than that (though not the 6 days of labor that my 5'1", 100 lb malnourished MIL did with her 10+ pound kid in rural Korea! man I wish she had shared that with me BEFOREhand so I could have called her for moral support) and it was all caused by my midwives and WA law that restricted them and forced them to do stupid things, then later the hospital.

For me, I've had to separate the two, there's DS and there's the labor. I mean yeah, he was posterior and had his hands up like Superman, but it wasn't HIS fault that WA law with midwives causes them to flip out once you go beyond 40 weeks (we have long pregnancies on both sides...hubby himself was a 44 week baby...but that is incompatible with the malpractice insurance agreements with midwives 'round here and most OBs too), and it wasn't HIS fault that they didn't know his position. I remember feeling that it was a dance we were creating, but we kept getting cut in on by the professionals. So at the end, it was two separate things for me.

DS was my saving grace, the thing that got me through the aftermath of it all, but I'm not sure that *for me* it's related in the same way your feelings are with your guy. :goodvibes

I think it worked that way for my husband, though!

oh wow i didnt know there was a playhouse disney show at DCA, ill have to check that out! thanks! i also havent seen the ALADDIN show..every time we go its always full and we cant get in:headache: i hear its amazing though, and i know ill love it b/c aladdin is my all time favorite movie (i love princess jasmine:lovestruc ). its neat that your DD loves aladdin, ive never seen a child that young like it! maybe she will want to be princess jasmine for halloweenprincess: ! i love seeing little girls dressed like her..its ADORABLE! im trying to be jasmine too..just gotta get rid of this baby belly though:lmao:

and about the strollers, that is exactly why i didnt rent one, b/c i heard they dont recline! if you dont have your own with you i would get it, but i agree that its best to bring your own for naps and stuff. Graco strollers are great!

wow both of our sons are 17 months. Mine will be 18 months next week though. No I have never been there during October. My mom went last year and said it was nice during halloween time so that is why we are going. I have been there tons of time during the summer and once during christmas time so I finally get to see it during the fall. Yes We are doing the trick or treat party, are you? I have no idea what my son is going to be yet. I hope disney releases some cute costumes this year, last year he was eeyore lol. We will probably go back at least 1 more time next year, maybe in april or may. How old was your son when you first took him? I cant wait to take mine but im really nervous that hes not going to like it! He loves mickey and everytime the commercials for disneyland I tell him thats where mickey lives and that were going there soon so hopefully he isnt scared when we get there.

thats so cute that your son was eeyore:) i made my son be nemo b/c im totally obsessed with that movie :rotfl2: i think this year hes going to be mike wazowski, from monsters inc. its hard with boys because there is not much they can be (that would be comfortable to wear all night, and something they would actually keep on!) but that costume looks comfortable enough. i wanted him to be jack sparrow b/c i loooove him, but he wouldnt keep that wig on lol. we are going to the trick or treat party too, if we can get tickets of course! lol
we first took him on his first bday to DL, and he looooved it. i was so surprised and very happy of course. aww and dont worry about your little one not liking DL...i highly doubt thats gonna happen;) and you're going to love experiencing DL with him for the first time...its such a great feeling to take your child somewhere thats so close to your heart:love:

thats funny, I was also thinking about my son being jack sparrow but I dont think he will wear the wig either. I was also thinking maybe Handy Manny lol I dont know, I will find something eventually. Thats cute, mike wazowski. We have already bought our tickets because I have a disney visa. We just need to buy our ap's and we are set. My son loves nemo too...he actually really likes alot of characters so I think he will enjoy it. He really likes wall-e too, so hopefully by the time we go he will be there. We took him to see it opening day and he was so happy to see wall-e everytime he came on screen and kept calling for him.

We'll be at DL Oct 1-5. DS will be 8 months while we're there. I was so nervous he wouldn't enjoy it, but hearing all these positive reviews from other moms of babies makes me so happy. :goodvibes
