Right now we have a room at CSR for me, DH, DSS AND DSS10 for 12-14 through the 21st with FD. Now it looks like my DSS21 will be joinin us.
What's the cheapest way to do this?
Change resorts or get him a room of his own? What would you guys do?

To add him to the same room you would need to be booked in a room that can accommodate 5 persons. Not sure CSR has any of those.

What I would do depends on how much it would cost to change resorts, whether I wanted to change resorts, how much it would cost to get him a room by himself, whether I would actually want to have 5 persons in one room, how many days he will be there, and what discounts might come into play.

A standard or at CSR won't sleep 5.

Your options are:
  • Switch up to a Deluxe that sleeps 5, like GF, Poly or Contemporary
  • Switch to a mod that sleeps 5, if available -- I think to keep Free Dining you'd need to be looking at Caribbean Beach; Port Orleans Riverside is not included for your dates
  • Switch to a family suite at AOA or All-Star Music, which would downgrade your free dining (if available)
  • Cabin at Fort Wilderness
  • Second room at CSR
  • Two rooms at any Value (downgrades your free dining, if available)
  • Tell the kid to stay home and not to trash the house

From what I've read, I'm not sure rooms for 5 were even a part of the CBR FD deal. Seems like the pirate rooms were the only ones offered and they only fit 4. But other than that OP the above are pretty much your options.

Lol, I'd love for a romantic trip with just DH but his guilt will never allow it.
I didn't know CBR had rooms that sleep 5. I'm definitely going to look into that.
We really can't afford anything but a mod resort. And we need FD with at least one table service a day. DH and DSS10 are huge eaters! Lol

The risk in switching is that I don't know if any of the rooms that sleep 5 at CBR were included for your dates, as someone else mentioned.

You may not be able to add a person and keep a mod with free dining.

You can request a cot aka roll away bed for $10 a day and it's first come first serve. You can request one but they dont have many to go around.

I would price out both options - rooms that will accommodate 5 under FD during your travel dates and getting him his own room at CSR.

You can't add a person with a cot if it exceeds the room occupancy.
Exactly this.

A Coronado Springs non-suite does not accommodate 5 persons over age 3, and you cannot request a cot to do so. If you try to sneak a 5th person in and housekeeping notices, you are liable to be asked to upgrade to a room that serves 5 AND lose your "free" dining to boot.

Besides, if you sneak a person in without registering them, they won't get any dining credits or access to DME if you need it.

I would call and find out what is available for a party of five durning your dates, a CM on the phone can price things out for you. Maybe look into somewhere like OKW or other DVCs that can accommodate bigger parties?

I wonder if you and your family's needs would be better served off site without free dining? You can get a 2 or 3 bedroom condo for under $100/night. Then you could use all the money you saved on the mod and or deluxe upgrade and eat with that.

There is a standard room at Caribbean Beach for 5 people available right now.
