Yes, addonitis comes quickly, doesn't it?!?!

Someone on another thread said that add on points go for about $92 per point - was this specific to a certain property or for all of the properties?

We bought a reasonably sized contract re-sale but I'm interested in another 25-50 points and wondered about buying re-sale and paying closing or just buying directly through DVC - which way would I come out better?

One last ?? - our home is SSR - for those of you that add on, do you add on at your home resort when you add on a small number of points but at other resorts when you do larger point add ons?

There are a couple ways to look at this...

Personally, I would buy where I wanted to stay. With banking and borrowing a 50 point contract, you can have 150 points at the 11 month window every third year. This may be nice if you want to experience another resort during busy times.

On the other hand, the extra 50 points at SSR may come in handy if you should ever want a GV at SSR. I would think the 11 month window would be needed for that.

I don't think there is any one answer to your questions. I just recently sold three 50 point packages, two at OKW for 74 per point and one at HH at 72. The buyer paid closing and transfer fees (which I now understand have been eliminated). I have one 50 point left at HH.
It depends on where you would like to stay and when to have the 11 month window. If BWV then I would buy in order to have a shot at the Standard view villas. If HH in the summer I would buy there. If VB in the winter I would buy there. If BCV for SAB pool and close to Epcot buy there. Small point packages are hard to find.
Your best deal may be to add on at SSR and use the 7 month window for other resorts if you have flexibility in your travel dates. That way you have no costs and can use DVC financing if you need it.

I would be inclined to agree that you have many options.

I was thinking along the same lines of adding on smaller 25-40 point contracts at BWV or BCV thru DVC (if available). However, I know that I'd only be able to utilize that 11 month window on those limited number of points. So if I got a 25 pointer at BWV, I'd have to bank and borrow to get a standard studio for a week (non weekend stay) and only be able to do that every 2 or 3 years. On the bright side, I'd only be spending $2300 (for a 25 point contract) each time rather than financing a much larger purchase.

Oh, and all of the sold-out resorts (OKW, BCV, BWV, VWL, HHI, VB) go for $92 per point... SSR goes for $98 per point.

Vascubaguy - I didn't notice how long you've been on the boards but you and I both purchased resale right about the same time - you must have the "addonitis" bug as well since I keep seeing your name on all of the same posts that I keep drifting towards! You've obviously done more homework than me though because you always seem to be one step ahead of me with the answers!
