OK, we are going in Nov! Myself and 3 kids, 9, 6 &4 are going to go early, and to save money we are looking to spend 3 nights in a less expensive hotel. $77 for All Stars or $98 for PORS. We have never stayed in either. When my hubby and 3 other kids come down we are going to AKL!(thanks dreams!!)

Which would my kids enjoy more? Is the $ difference worth a mod? What about transporation from both to parks? Is one easier than the other?

Thanks for all your help!

I would think the kids would prefer AS, though you might prefer POR. I would probably save the money and let the kids enjoy a very "Disney" hotel.

When my DD-10 and I go to WDW without my DH we always stay at one of the AS. She loves it. I don't find it to bad myself. The layout is like a normal hotel room- 2 beds,1 nightstand in between, small table and 2 sitting chairs, 1 dresser with a tv on it-then a framed doorway which has a vanity, mirror and a place to hang clothes- then the small bath. You have to shut the door to sit down and use the toliet but who wants to leave the door open anyway!!! The themes are overdone- Disney style. My DD loves Surf's Up at AS Sports- the Rock-n-Roll at AS Music and we have never stayed at AS Movies only because it is always booked. It looks FUN though.
As for POR(alligator bayou)- we have stayed there with DH and it is shady and quiet with a "river" but as far as my DD loving it- no. The theme is more adult but it is nice. The rooms aren't much larger but it has 2 sinks instead of one. The beds are cool and have trundles under them. It also has an armore that hold the tv.
Take the kids to AS and then AKL and they will LOVE it!!!

Based on the ages, I would go for the All Stars. I like the Movies myself.

Another vote for the AS. We have been to AS Movies, AS Music and POR within the last year. I like the All Stars much better. But I guess that is because I am a kid at heart. I'm sure the kids will enjoy the AS much more since the themes is directed more towards them. The food court at the AS seems to have more selections for children.

The transportation is the same. The only additional mode of transportation at POR is the boat to Downtown Disney. The bus stops for POR are almost the last - just before the AS. That's the worst part of staying at a value or moderate resort. Your bus stop is always the greatest distance away!

For older kids I would definitely recommend POR. For your kids ages I would recommend AS. They will love the theme. :p

Thanks for all the responses! The All stars was my bet, but not having stayed in either just wanted to check and see what the "experts" felt.
