All Stars Movies or outside Disney Hotel?

I'm starting to plan our holiday for October 2005. We've only been once before and that was at the beginning of last December when we spent 2 weeks there, (we're from the UK BTW). We stayed at the Radisson Resort Parkway in Kissimmee, but to be honest it was a bit of a waste as we were out all day, everyday and only used it for sleeping. This time we're thinking of staying in Disney at the All Stars Movies. What I really want to know is, what are the dining facilities like? We liked going to the Ponderosa for breakfast, loads to eat, it was very cheap and kept us going for a fair part of the day. Are the same sort of breakfasts available at ASM and how do they compare in quality and price? And what about dining in the evening, what are the choices, quality and prices like compared to outside Disney?
Also, what's the best character breakfasts to go for. I have 2 girls of 8 and 10.

Hope I don't sound too sad asking these questions!

Thanks

I'm going to move this to the restraurant board for you - you will get better advice there!

Will you have a car? The AllStars offer a food court. Others will have to speak to its value. I'm sure the breakfast buffets off-site are a better deal price-wise, but will eat into your park time.

As for character breakfasts, everyone has their favorites. Mine are Donald's Breakfastosaurus at AK, and the Crystal Palace in MK. For a non-character treat, the best bargain buffet in WDW is Trails End Buffeteria over at Ft Wilderness, a short boat ride from the MK.

Thanks for the info both of you. We will have a car for the 2 weeks we will be there so we wont be too restricted where we eat. I think I'd pretty made up my mind that we were going to stay inside Disney this time instaed of an outside hotel. The food prices aren't too bad and I imagine it's of a standard sort of quality. It's the same price to stay at the ASM as it is to stay at the Radisson where we were last time.
Time to book it now then...only 17 months to wait!!!
BTW...how busy is it last 2 weeks in October compared to first 2 weeks in December?

Thanks once again

My vote is to stay at the Movies. It is much easier staying on property. We stayed at the Movies in 2001 and were very pleased by the resort, the service and the food court. We ate there a few times during our stays and the portions are a good size.

As far as character meals, I really enjoy both the Crystal Palace & Garden Grill. I found the food hot & tasty and the character interaction was very good. I will recommend Chef Mickey's, but only for breakfast (had dinner last trip and it was the worst meal I had ever had at WDW). A fun meal can also be had at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Hope this helps!
